Unit 2 How to open a savings account
(第三课时教学设计)
一、教材分析
1. 教学内容
本课时系教材《英语3（基础模块）》（高教版）第二单元的第三课时，即Language in use 中的Grammar focus部分。通过对非谓语动词作宾语补足语的语法知识归纳和操练，让学生 最终掌握并能在语境中正确使用该语法知识。
2. 教学重点、难点
(1) 教学重点
学生能区分哪些动词后面用 “to do”，哪些动词后面用 “doing”，并能运用 “动词+sb / sth +to do / doing” 表达想要某人、某物做某事的意思。
(2) 教学难点
学生能在具体的语境中正确使用非谓语动词作宾语补足语的语法知识。
二、教学目标
1. 知识目标
(1) 学生能识别 “动词+sb / sth+ to do / doing” 结构。
(2) 能区分哪些动词后面用 “to do”，哪些动词后面用 “doing”。
(3) 能用 “动词+sb / sth +to do / doing” 表达“想要某人、某物做某事”的意思。
2. 能力目标
(1) 学生能够归纳非谓语动词作宾语补足语的语法结构。
(2) 学生能用“动词+sb / sth +to do / doing”表达“想要某人、某物做某事”的意思，并能 正确运用在具体的语境中。
三、教学步骤
Step I Lead-in
1. Read and focus.
The teacher shows the following sentences on the screen:
1) My boss asked me to cash a check, but I don’t know how to do it.
2) The staff just told me to write the account number on the back of the check.
3) The loan officer asked the man to write a check.
4) Sorry for having kept you waiting.
The teacher asks students to read the sentences and focus on the bolded words. Then the teacher lets several students summarize the structure of the bolded words.
That is: verb+ objective+ to do / doing.
（设计意图：通过总结本单元出现的例句呈现基本的语法用法。让学生了解非谓语动词 作宾语补足语的不同情况和哪些动词后使用不定式，哪些动词后用动名词。）
Step II Grammar focus
1. Read and underline. (Activity 15)
Students read the sentences of the activity 15 and underline the same structure as the above four sentences. The teacher checks the answers, especially reminding students to pay attention to the different structure between the following sentences.
1) I advise you to prepare more food for your party.
2) He has taught his dog to perform tricks.
4) He encouraged me to tell a story in public.
5) Please remind me to get ready for the meeting on Friday.
6) I found him reading when I passed by.
and two sentences that don’t contain the structure (verb+ objective+ to do / doing).
3) I hope to apply for a credit card of my own.
7) Can you imagine having dinner with Chang’s on the moon
（设计意图：再次阅读句子并画出相关非谓语动词作宾语补足语的语法结构，让学生再 次明确该结构，并注意与非谓语动词作宾语结构的区别。）
2. Read and find.
The teacher hands out the paper, and students read the dialogue to find out the different structure (verb+ objective+ to do / doing. verb+ to do / doing).
Mary is a fat girl. One day she didn’t feel well. She came to the doctor.
Mary: I don’t feel well, Doctor. Doctor: I’m not surprised.
Mary: I can’t stop eating when I see delicious food. Yesterday my friend invited me
to go to a party. There were so much delicious food. Doctor: So you enjoyed eating them. What did you eat
Mary: Three cakes, two bottles of coke, four sausages, two apples. Oh,I remember having chocolates.
Doctor: I advise you to imagine becoming much fatter if you eat so much food. Mary: What’s the best way of losing weight
Doctor: I suggest you should eat less and take more exercise.
Mary: I want to take exercise. But I need somebody to help me to encourage me to keep doing exercise every day.
Doctor: You can ask your best friend to help you. Mary: It’s a good idea. Thank you.
After reading the dialogue, the teacher asks students list the words:
verb+ objective+ to do / doing: verb+ to do / doing:
1) invited me to go to a party 1) stop eating
2) advise you to imagine 2) enjoyed eating
3) need somebody to help 3) imagine becoming
4) help me to encourage 4) keep doing

3. Read and complete. (Activity 16)
Students read the sentences of activity 16 and choose the phrases according to the meaning of the sentences to complete the sentences. The teacher checks the answers and summarizes the different usage of words.
A类： ask / tell / teach / encourage / remind / prepare / persuade / invite / expect / need + sb to do
B类： keep / find + sb doing C类： have / get sth done
（设计意图：让学生通过练习进一步熟悉非谓语动词作宾语补足语的用法，为后面的应 用练习做准备。)
Step III Practice
1. Fill in the blanks.
Students fill in the blanks in the correct forms to complete the following sentences.
1) My mother persuaded me (stop) smoking.
2) My friend invited the girl (join) the club.
3) When I came in,I found her (read) newspaper.
4) Our teacher told us (close) the windows.
5) With the spring festival coming, parents expect their children (go) home.
6) My hair is long now. I will have my hair (cut) this afternoon.
The teacher checks the answer with the whole class.

2. Look and complete. (Activity 17)
Students look at the pictures in the book and complete the sentences according to the given information. Then the teacher asks some students to read the sentences to see if there are any mistakes.
(设计意图：通过本活动，进一步检测学生掌握本单元语法知识点的情况。)
3. Read and rewrite.
The teacher gives the example on the screen.
My mother said, “You should clean the room on weekends.” My mother told me to clean the room on weekends.
Then students read and rewrite the following sentences.
1) The doctor said to me ,“Take medicine three times a day.” (ask)
The doctor .
2) My English teacher said to us, “ You will pass the exam.” (encourage)
My English teacher .
3) Lily said, “I will go to the barber’s to cut my hair.” (have)
Lily will .
4) My friend was cooking dinner when I came in. (find)
I when I came in.
(设计意图：仿照例句重写句子，以巩固非谓语动词作宾语在句子中的正确运用。)
4. Ask and answer. (Activity 18)
Students work in pairs to interview each other about pocket money by asking the questions of activity 18 and write down the answers in a complete sentence. After that, the teacher asks several students to give a short report about the results of the interview.
(设计意图：学生根据课文中提供的句子就零用钱问题相互进行采访，训练学生在真实 语境中使用非谓语动词进行语言输出。)
Step IV Homework
1. Rewrite the dialogue
Students rewrite the dialogue the teacher handed out in the class into a short passage. (设计意图：让学生将对话改写成小短文，复习巩固非谓语动词的用法。)
