一、教材分析
1. 教学内容
本课时系教材《英语3(基础模块)》(高教版)第四单元的第三课时,即Language in use部分。此部分内容是培养学生掌握和正确使用原因和目的状语从句的能力。
2. 教学重点、难点
(1) 教学重点
学生了解原因和目的状语从句的用法。
能区分相近含义的连词,如:because ,since ,as, for等,并且能正确使用。
(2) 教学难点
在具体语境中正确使用原因和目的状语从句。
二、教学目标
1. 知识目标
(1) 能识别because, since, as, for和so that引导从句的作用和含义。
(2) 能理解because, since, as, for引导从句和so that引导从句在句中的不同作用。
2. 能力目标
(1) 学生能使用because, since, as, for和so that表达原因和结果,并能正确运用在具体的语境 中。
三、教学步骤
Step I Present
1. Ss read the following sentences and translate them into Chinese.
I’ll have to have my watch fixed because there is something wrong with the alarm. Would you please to show me your receipt so that I can takedown some details. Since we have been partners for so long, I have already found a solution to this problem. The assembly line of our company broke down so that we couldn’t finish it in time. As we have signed the contract, we will pay for your loss.
(设计意图:学生通过阅读例句,在老师的引导下发现黑体部分的特点:
1. because, since, as 引导的是原因状语从句。
2. so that引导的是目的状语从句。
2. Underline and group
Ss read and classify the sentences according to the given example.
(1) I attended an English course so that I could improve my speaking.
(2) He looks tired and sleepy because he stayed up very late last night.
(3) Since he can’t answer this question, we’d better ask someone else.
(4) We are here to tell you the good news.
(5) He got a prize for finding the most mistakes.

(设计意图:本活动的目的是让学生熟悉引导状语从句的连词的功能。通过对连词的归 类,学生可以对引导原因状语从句和目的状语从句的连词有更清晰地认识。老师也可以 帮助同学区分相近连词的含义。例如because与since的区别。)
Step II Practice
1. Read and combine
Students use “because, since, as” or “so that” combine the following sentences together.
e.g., Jane is very confident about getting this job. She has a lot of work experience. As she has a lot of work experience, Jane is very confident about getting the job.
(设计意图:本活动是让学生在控制练习中熟练使用连词,组成逻辑正确的原因状语从 句或目的状语从句。每一个练习的答案都不是惟一的,所以,只要学生的句子符合语法 规则,合乎逻辑,教师就应予认可。)
2. Exercise
Students do some relative exercise in class to consolidate what they have learnt.
(设计意图:学生可以通过一些课堂练习,巩固新学的语法点,教师也可以检测学生掌 握的程度,并再以此进行适当的讲解和说明。)
3. Look and complete
Ss make should complete the story according to the pictures and given sentences.
(设计意图:本活动用图片给出一个语境,让学生通过练习熟练运用表示原因和结果的 连词。在完成短文前,教师可以引导学生先理解每幅图片的内容,然后再将五幅图片的
内容连起来,之后再进行短文写作。)
Step III Homework
在本单元中找出原因状语从句和目的状语从句,并把它们进行归类。
(设计意图:学生能熟练辨别原因状语从句和目的状语从句,也熟悉它们使用的语言情 境。)
