一般过去时通常表示过去某个时间里发生的动作或存在的状态。
[考点1]动词过去式的变化规则
1.动词过去式的规则变化
规 则 示 例
一般在动词词尾直接加-ed。 pick— picked play— played
以不发音的字母e结尾的动词加-d。 live— lived hope— hoped
以“辅音字母+y”结尾的动词，先将y变为i，再加-ed。 carry— carried cry— cried
以重读闭音节结尾并且末尾只有一个辅音字母的动词，先双写这个辅音字母，再加-ed。 drop— dropped stop— stopped

[考点2]一般过去时的句式结构
1.肯定句
(1)谓语动词是 be动词：
主语+ was/ were +其他.如:
You were late for school this morning. 你今天早上上学迟到了。
(2)谓语动词是实义动词：
主语+动词过去式+其他.如：
I wrote a letter last night. 昨晚我写了一封信。
2.否定句
(1)谓语动词是 be动词：
主语+ was/ were + not +其他.如:
Mike was not at home yesterday. 迈克昨天不在家。
(2)谓语动词是实义动词：
主语+ didn't +动词原形+其他.如:
My little sister didn't go to the cinema.我妹妹没有去电影院。
3.一般疑问句
(1)谓语动词是 be动词：
Was/ Were +主语+其他 如:
Was it sunny last weekend 上个周末天气晴朗吗
(2)谓语动词是实义动词：
Did +主语+动词原形+其他 如：
Did you see Mary in the library 你在图书馆见过玛丽吗
4.特殊疑问句
(1)谓语动词是 be动词：
特殊疑问词+ was/ were +主语+其他 如：
Who was sad yesterday 谁昨天伤心了
(2)谓语动词是实义动词：
特殊疑问词+ did +主语+动词原形+其他 如：
What did you do yesterday 昨天你做什么了
[考点3]一般过去时的用法
1.表示在过去某时间发生的动作或存在的状态,常与 just now, yesterday, last week,two years ago 等表示过去的时间状语连用。如：
I did my homework just now. 我刚刚做作业了。
2.表示过去某一段时间内经常或反复发生的动作或习惯。如：
She always went swimming last summer.去年夏天她总是去游泳。
3.用于叙述性文字(如故事、小说、童话等)或谈论已故的人时。如：
Long long ago, there was a cute dog.很久很久以前，有一只可爱的狗。
