You may not realize it, but you are doing much more than just studying when you are at school. School is also
the place where you learn to get on well with people. But this is not always easy. What can you do if you just don’t
like one of your classmates
If you discover that you have problems getting on with your classmates or friends, the most important thing to
learn is tolerance. Tolerance is the ability to realize and respect the differences in others. We can not change the
way that other people do, so it is important to learn to live happily with them.
Tolerance will make everyone get on better with each other. Getting to know someone may help you
understand why they do things differently. Something different does not exactly mean that it is bad. Tolerance
teaches us to keep a temperate(温和的)and open mind.
You need to remember an old saying, "Treat others how you want to be treated". If you tolerate something, it
does not mean that you have to like it. No one is asking you to change who you are or what you believe in.
Tolerance just means that you should respect the differences in others and not try to make them change.
It is important to practice tolerance, because it will make everyone’s life easier. Learn to accept people for
their different abilities and interests. The world is very different, and practicing tolerance in your own school and
city can help make a difference.

Every school has rules for students to follow. But what happens when students break the rules
In the UK, when students don’t behave well at school, they will be given a warning. But if they go on
behaving badly, like talking over the teacher, they’ll be punished. And there are a lot of ways for students to be
punished!
Normally, there are five punishments in UK schools: detention(课后留校), isolation(隔离)education unit
(IEU), supervision(监管), suspension(停学)and expulsion(开除)。
If you receive a detention, you’ll find yourself sitting in a room with your teacher during break, lunch or even
worse, after school. The longest time for a detention is two hours. Depending on how naughty you’ve been, you can
get two detentions in one day!
If you get IEU, you have to stay in a room alone all day to finish your lessons.
Supervision means that you cannot take part in PE lessons. In other classes, a teacher will always keep an eye on
you while you sit in the front of the class. Suspension means you cannot go to school for some time. The most
serious punishment you can ever receive is expulsion. You can’t go to the school any more. You’ll have to find
another school to go to, and it will be on your school record.
Punishments are a good way to discipline students. If you don’t want to get punished, behave well!
36. How many ways are mentioned(提及)to punish students who break the rules

A. train someone to behave well B. improve one’s studies

40. The best title of the passage could be “______”.

When a movie is made, different kinds of camera shots are used to create a mood for the story. The shot means
the kind of picture we see in a moment of a movie.
A close-up shot is taken of a person’s head from just above the head to his chest. It can also be used to film a
person or a thing closely. It has little or no back ground. Since it is taken closely enough to see a person’s feelings,
a close-up shot is often used to show a new character.
A long shot is taken from a distance. It shows the whole person and other characters, but background takes up
almost the whole picture. A long shot allows the viewer to understand the relationship between the characters and
their environment.
A POV shot shows the point of view of a character so that we can see what he sees. In this shot, you’re
expected to see yourself in the mirror or people watching over you. POV shots are most used to make people scared.
For example, it helps to see the word through a killer’s eyes.
Top shot, also known as a “a bird’s eye view” shot, a top shot is taken from a high angel as if seen by a bird in
flight. A top shot looks down directly on the subject. This shot does, however, put the viewers in a godlike position,
make them feel for the film. In this way, they can get a better idea about the whole situation. A shot like this is
usually taken in the open air.
41. A close-up shot is used to ______.
A. explain relationship B. show the environment
C. introduce new characters D. get a general idea
42. POV shots are most often used in ______.
A. scary movies B. love stories C. news reports D. Traveling films
43. We can know that a bird’s eye view is taken ______.
A. in a room B. by a bird C. through killers’ eyes D. from high places
44. If you want to show the relationship between the characters and the environment, you can use ______.
A. close-up shot B. POV shot C. long shot D. top shot
