It was a sunny spring morning. The air was fresh and the sky was blue with a few white clouds. This day was special because I finally learned to ride a bike on my own.
For years,I watched my friends ride their bikes with envy(羡慕).Every time they sped by,laughing and enjoying the wind in their hair,I felt jealous. My effort always ended in tears as I couldn't keep my balance.
That Saturday,my father decided to teach me to ride.He took me to a quiet park, away from busy streets and traffic. The grass was green and flowers were blooming, adding color to the peaceful setting.
My father held the back of my bike seat tightly as I pedaled(踩踏板) slowly. At first,I was nervous and tense, expecting to fall any moment. But as I gained confidence,I relaxed and enjoyed the feeling of moving by myself.
After a few rounds,my father gradually let go of the bike without my noticing.I kept pedaling until I turned around and saw him standing a few feet away, smiling proudly. That's when I realized I was riding alone.
The excitement was indescribable.I felt a strong sense of independence and success.I rode faster and farther, exploring the park with a freedom I'd never felt before.
As the day went on,I practiced turning, stopping, and even some tricks. My father watched from the sidelines, offering encouragement and advice.By the time we went home,I was a confident bike rider.
That evening,I realized learning to ride wasn't just a new skill. It was a symbol of growth and strong will.It taught me that with patience, sticking power, and help from those who care,we can overcome any challenge.

15.(2025 通州区一模) Physical literacy(素养) is about the relationship we have with movement and physical activity throughout life.It is an ever﹣changing journey shaped by our experiences and the world around us.
Physical literacy is about more than just developing skills;it is also about enjoyment in physical activity.Research shows that kids with higher levels of physical literacy are twice as likely to be active. The increased activity not only improves their physical health, but also reduces stress. What's more,it builds social connections as kids take part in group activities. The World Health Organization says young people should do at least sixty minutes of activity a day.
Although physical literacy has proven importance,it is not as widely accepted as it should be.Lots of young people find it difficult to do as much activity as scientists say they need. Some kids might think they are not very good at sports;some have trouble finding time to fit physical activity in with school and homework, and some just feel they do not like being active and prefer other things.
Focusing on physical literacy means trying to help more young people to lead active lives.Parents, teachers, and coaches are some of the most important adults who can help kids develop physical literacy.
Taking part in lots of activities that focus on developing movement skills is important for physical literacy. These activities should include different sports.Although technology often draws young people away from being active,it can also be used positively to find out about new activities and clubs.Activities should use games and challenges that are interesting and enjoyable for kids.
Rather than teaching the hard skills that adults use in a sport, adults should break skills down into smaller steps for kids to learn.Kids learn to work well with others,to be good winners or losers, and to take part in decisions being made about the activities.
Physical literacy does not stop when we grow up.As we get older, there are things we can do ourselves to develop our physical literacy, but the most important is to keep moving all our lives,by finding activities we enjoy.
(1)What is the relationship between physical literacy and kids' physical activity?
A.Kids' early physical activity shapes their physical literacy.
B.Higher physical literacy makes it more likely for kids to be active.
C.Physical literacy reduces kids' social connections in physical activity.
D.Kids with lower levels of physical literacy have less stress of physical activity.
(2)What is Paragraph 3 mainly about?
A.Scientists help kids know the importance of physical literacy.
B.Kids find it hard to be active because of different reasons.
C.It is useful to fit physical activity into kids' daily lives.
D.Young people prefer physical activities to other things.
(3)What can we learn from the passage?
A.Adults should design challenges for kids to teach them hard skills.
B.Parents have less influence on kids' physical literacy than others.
C.Kids should avoid taking part in competitive physical activities.
D.Technology offers kids more choices for physical activities.
16.(2024 平谷区二模) When you are supposed to be listening to your teacher, you might be looking out of the window, making plans for after school,or thinking about nothing at all!If so,you're experiencing mind wandering.
Thinking about anything other than the task you should be focusing on is called mind wandering. It can happen on purpose or by accident. Some studies find that people may spend nearly half their day mind wandering.
The effects of mind wandering can vary a lot.Sometimes there are no effects at all.Think about drinking a glass of water:this task is simple and happens often, allowing you to drink without much effort or spilling(溢出),even if your mind is wandering. This kind of behavior is automatic.Other times, mind wandering has minor effects. If you briefly(短暂的) lose focus on your teacher's voice, you may not hear what was said;but by rapidly focusing on the teacher's voice again, you can get back easily. Finally, there are examples when mind wandering can have very serious results.Imagine crossing the street or riding a bike without focusing on your surroundings.
Much evidence suggests that mind wandering is not a rare mistake, but actually a very normal part of the way the mind works!
So why do we mind wander? The likely reason is that mind wandering serves useful purposes.Mind wandering can help in problem solving, creative thinking, and planning for the future.Even when you are not trying to think about anything, your mind is still working in the background.Without trying, your mind might start focusing on memories that could help solve a problem in the present. This can be when creative or unusual ideas are made!
Also, mind wandering can help with learning and memory.Mind wandering helps strengthen recent memories. This benefit is strongest when the memories are about yourself.
Finally, mind wandering offers a time to"rest"and prepare for upcoming thinking. It prevents new information from entering the mind and using up limited attention to deal with the new information. When our minds wander, creative ideas can be built and used to plan or solve problems. When our minds wander, our attention can also focus on useful information, like thinking about plans for later in the day.
The mind actually does a lot when it wanders! So,do not see mind wandering as a mistake. There are many wonderful things in the world that you can notice when you let your mind wander. So,let yourself gaze out the window or stare at clouds,or even close your eyes and simply"be".
(1)You will most probably experience mind wandering when you .

B.pick out your favorite one among many clothes

A.mind wandering can make your memories deeper
B.mind wandering has different effects on your daily life
C.you can rely on mind wandering to get what you want
D.the more wonderful things you wander, the more beautiful life you will have
(3)The underlined word"rare"in Paragraph 4 probably means" ".
A.common
B.serious
C.unacceptable
D.unusual
(4)Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?
A.Mind Wandering:Can Be a Good Thing
B.Mind Wandering:Happening All the Time
C.Mind Wandering:A Great Way to Create New Things
D.Mind Wandering:Helping You Understand the World Better
17.(2024春 东城区月考)Why do we do the things we do?What drives our behavior?Psychologists have suggested different ways of thinking about motivation (动机),including looking at whether motivation arises from outside (extrinsic) or inside (intrinsic) a person.
Researchers have found that each type has a different effect on a person's behavior and efforts to achieve goals. To better understand the influence of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation on human behavior,it would help to learn how each type works.
Extrinsic motivation is when you are motivated to perform a behavior or take part in an activity because you want to get a reward (奖赏)or avoid punishment. You will take action not because you enjoy it,but because you expect to get something in return or avoid something unpleasant.
Intrinsic motivation is when you decide to do something because you find it satisfying. You are performing an activity for what it is not because you are after some external (外部的)reward. The behavior itself is its own reward.
Studies have shown that offering too many external rewards for an already internally rewarding behavior can reduce intrinsic motivation—which is known as the over justification (奖励过当)effect. For example,in a 2008 study, children who were rewarded for playing with a toy they had already expressed interest in playing with became less interested in the toy after being externally rewarded.
This is not to suggest that extrinsic motivation is a bad thing—it can be beneficial in some situations. For example, extrinsic motivation can be especially helpful when a person needs to complete a task that they find unpleasant.
Most people would accept that intrinsic motivation is best, but it is not always possible in every situation.Sometimes a person simply has no internal wish to join in an activity.
Both extrinsic and intrinsic motivation play a key role in learning.Experts have argued that education's traditional stress on external rewards (such as grades, report cards, and gold stars) undermines any intrinsic motivation that students might already have. However, others have suggested that extrinsic motivators can help students feel more knowledgeable in the classroom, which in turn builds up their intrinsic motivation.
As professor David Myers put it,a person's interest often survives when a reward is used neither to bribe(贿赂)nor to control but to show a job well done,as in a "most improved player" award.Put simply, rewards, rightly given, can increase enjoyment and motivate high performance.
Understanding how each type of motivation works and when it is likely to be useful can help people perform tasks and improve their learning.
(1)You do something out of intrinsic motivation when you .
A.do schoolwork to get a good grade
B.work on a subject you find interesting
C.take part in a sport to receive recognition
D.clean your room to avoid criticism from your parents
(2)Why does the writer mention the 2008 study in Paragraph 5?
A.To explain the benefits of offering toys as rewards.
B.To prove external rewards can influence one's interest.
C.To introduce how intrinsic motivation works in children.
D.To stress the importance of understanding intrinsic motivation.
(3)The word "undermines" in Paragraph 8 means .
A.weakens
B.separates
C.improves
D.encourages
(4)The writer probably agrees that .
A.extrinsic motivation is key to one's achievement
B.intrinsic motivation has little to do with enjoying a task
C.properly﹣given rewards can encourage further improvement
D.offering rewards of any kind takes the fun out of an activity
18.(2025 通州区一模) Last month,I decided to buy a second﹣hand bike on an online second﹣hand trading platform(平台).After searching online for a long time,I finally found a bike that seemed perfect. The pictures showed it in good condition, and the price was only one﹣third of a new one.The seller said that it had only been used a few times and had no major problems.Eagerly,I called the seller and we agreed to meet the next day for the deal.
When I met the seller,I carefully examined the bike.It looked pretty good, but had a few small scratches(划痕).However,as I took it for a short test ride,I noticed that the brakes(刹车) didn't seem to work properly. The seller told me that it could be easily fixed.Since I was really attracted by the price and the look of the bike,I decided to buy it.
On my way home,I took the bike to a local bike shop to get it fixed properly. The repairman told me that although the brake problem wasn't serious,it would still cost me some money to fix it.This cost made me
realize that buying second﹣hand things might not always be as cost﹣effective as I thought at first.
My experience of buying a second﹣hand bike was a mixed one.On the positive side,it offered me the chance to own a special thing at a lower price.I got a bike that looks like no other. It was a model that was no longer in production, and I received many praises from my friends for its cool design. What's more,I felt a sense of achievement in giving this old bike a new life and it was in line with my environmental values. However, the quality problems and unexpected additional costs were also things I had to face. This experience taught me that when buying second﹣hand products,it is really important to do a lot of research, check everything carefully, and be ready for any problems that might come up.
(1)Where did the writer decide to buy a second﹣hand bike?

(2)What problems did the writer find about the bike?

(3)What did the writer do on his way home?

(4)Would you like to buy second﹣hand things? Why or why not?(Please give two reasons.)

For years,I watched my friends ride their bikes with envy(羡慕).Every time they sped by,laughing and enjoying the wind in their hair,I felt jealous. My effort always ended in tears as I couldn't keep my balance.

A.Scientists help kids know the importance of physical literacy.
B.Kids find it hard to be active because of different reasons.
C.It is useful to fit physical activity into kids' daily lives.
D.Young people prefer physical activities to other things.
(3)What can we learn from the passage? D

(1)You will most probably experience mind wandering when you A .

Thinking about anything other than the task you should be focusing on is called mind wandering. It can happen on purpose or by accident.(想着你应该专注的任务之外的任何事情都被称为走神。 故选A。
The mind actually does a lot when it wanders! So,do not see mind wandering as a mistake. There are many wonderful things in the world that you can notice when you let your mind wander.(当你的心思漫游时,头脑实际上在做很多事情!
Much evidence suggests that mind wandering is not a rare mistake, but actually a very normal part of the way the mind works!(很多证据表明,心思漫游并不是一种.....
The mind actually does a lot when it wanders! So,do not see mind wandering as a mistake. There are many wonderful things in the world that you can notice when you let your mind wander.(当你的心思漫游时,头脑实际上在做很多事情! Mind Wandering:Can Be a Good Thing"(心思漫游:可能是一件好事)。故选A。

(1)You do something out of intrinsic motivation when you B .
A.do schoolwork to get a good grade
B.work on a subject you find interesting
C.take part in a sport to receive recognition
D.clean your room to avoid criticism from your parents
(2)Why does the writer mention the 2008 study in Paragraph 5? B
A.To explain the benefits of offering toys as rewards.
B.To prove external rewards can influence one's interest.
C.To introduce how intrinsic motivation works in children.
D.To stress the importance of understanding intrinsic motivation.
(3)The word "undermines" in Paragraph 8 means A .
A.weakens
B.separates
C.improves
D.encourages
(4)The writer probably agrees that C .
A.extrinsic motivation is key to one's achievement
B.intrinsic motivation has little to do with enjoying a task
C.properly﹣given rewards can encourage further improvement
D.offering rewards of any kind takes the fun out of an activity

Intrinsic motivation is when you decide to do something because you find it satisfying.(内在动机是指你因为觉得某件事令人满意而决定去做。)
For example,in a 2008 study, children who were rewarded for playing with a toy they had already expressed interest in playing with became less interested in the toy after being externally rewarded.(例如,在2008年的一项研究中,因玩他们已经表示有兴趣玩的玩具而获得奖励的儿童在获得外部奖励后,对玩具的兴趣会降低。)
Experts have argued that education's traditional stress on external rewards (such as grades, report cards, and gold stars) undermines any intrinsic motivation that students might already have.(专家们认为,教育对外部奖励(如成绩、成绩单和金星)的传统强调……
As professor David Myers put it,a person's interest often survives when a reward is used neither to bribe nor to control but to show a job well done,as in a "most improved player" award.Put simply, rewards, rightly given, can increase enjoyment and motivate high performance.(正如David Myers 教授所说,当奖励既不是用来贿赂也不是用来控制,而是用来证明工作做得很好时,一个人的兴趣往往会持续下去,比如"最有进步的球员"奖。
