During the years people change a lot. Five years is enough to compare yourself now and then. I think that I have changed a lot in the past five years.
Firstly, there are changes in my thoughts. Five years ago my thoughts were the same as a child's. I believed that the world was a place without problems. I thought that I could always have time for games and friends wouldn't change. Also I was sure that if I had any problem, my parents could always be around me offering help. Now I still believe that the world is a great place to live in, but sometimes there are different problems you have to face. And at times you have to deal with these problems alone without any help. And that is one of the changes that have happened to me in the past five years. Now I'm much more responsible (负责任的) and serious than five years ago.
Secondly, there are some changes in my interests. Now I spend less time with friends and I spend most of my time studying for exams. Five years ago, it wasn't so. I believed that there was nothing more important than playing football or watching cartoon movies during those days.
Although I have changed in some ways, there are some similar ways between now and then. For example, I still like spending time with friends. And I am still sure that childhood is the best time in our life.

Many students have experiences to volunteer. Some people think it's a waste of time for students to give up several hours to help others every week. But I think this may help us succeed in the future.
Volunteering can help meet new people and build community. Everyone loves new friends! Being a part of a team with a common goal will help you connect with strangers. It can change your life. Volunteering means helping people, and that means you'll create meaningful relationships with others.

Volunteer programs can give you the opportunities to bring people into your social network. You can learn from those who come from different walks of life.
Volunteering can help you get your future dream job. Volunteering will offer you skills that can be used in your work. When you have a volunteering experience, you will have more advantages in getting a dream job than those who don't take the time to give back to society.

From my father I have learned a lot. And I'm very thankful to him. I remember when I was a child my father always got up very early, quietly putting on his clothes and going off to work. To arrive in time to open his tiny store at 8:30, he needed to leave our apartment at 6:30. After all, he had to take a bus and then the subway. The last journey was a long walk through a neighborhood much of which was full of the smell of rubbish. I learned: it is very important to work. No excuse.
When I was 12, I would, on some Saturdays, go to my father's store to help out. After helping set up the outside clothing display, for the rest of the day, I'd watch to make sure no one stole anything. When I noticed someone looking unusual or strange, I would look the person in the eye, smile and say, "May I help you " Usually that worked, but sometimes someone would run off with something. The first time, I ran after the thief but my father shouted, "Martin, stop! There is no need to do that." It's true that safety is more important than money.
After 10 years of hard work, he saved up enough money to buy his first car, a cheap one—he wouldn't buy one until he could afford to pay for it without borrowing money. I learned: buy only what you can afford. Buying necessary food and clothing won't make us go in debt (债务). The unnecessary things won't give us happiness which comes from achievement only.

A. To enjoy something unnecessary.
B. To send their children to school.
C. To rent a house for the family.
D. To buy enough food for the family.
69.What is the passage mainly about
A. How to live a happy life.
B. What makes a person successful.
C. What the author learned from his father.
D. The help the author got from his father.

When I need to make a decision, I always talk to people that I trust. Sometimes it's enough to talk about the problem and listen to what others think of it. Other time, I ask for practical advice. I usually ask my friends or relatives. They are patient and always have time to listen to.
BRYAN 9:24 a. m. I think it's wrong to make decisions quickly so I prefer to think carefully about all the choices. For example, I had to choose a topic for a history speech about Ancient Rome.
