What Theme: Entertainment Activities Category: Self and Society The text talks about why "fun" is important in life. Why The text is to convince readers that fun is not just for free time. It's essential for a good life. How The text uses clear structure to discuss the importance of fun in life. And the writer supports his/her opinion by giving an example, giving a quote and research, which can be easy for students to imitate.

学习活动 学生自由回答问题，不做评价。 教学活动 教师呈现孤岛图片，介绍This is an island。请学生闭上眼睛，描述孤岛的景象（You feel the wind, listen to the birds. The sand is soft and warm... There are no classmates, no teachers, no parents... There is only you. You are alone...），解释imagine, alone。引导学生睁开眼睛，通过动画演示帮助学生理解list上已有的物品，着重提一下tool（What tool will you bring Why ），最后提问What would you like to bring with you as the fifth one 教师板书学生回答，追问：Why do you choose it

学习活动 Let's guess 学生选择A。 Skim and choose: A; B Let's match: ACEDB 教学活动 教师呈现文章，引导学生朗读标题，圈出work和play，呈现两种情绪，猜测dull的意义后推测标题含义。 教师呈现文章，请学生略读语篇的首尾两段及每段的第一句，选择语篇大意： 1. What’s the passage about A) The passage is about playing, having fun and enjoying life. B) The passage explains how to survive on a deserted island. C) The passage discusses the importance of hard work only. 2. What's the structure of the passage 教师呈现文章结构图，学生匹配选项到正确的位置： Uses an example to show that fun is as necessary as food or water. Work hard, but also make time for fun. Fun makes us happy and removes bad feelings. Fun helps people connect. A quote by George Bernard Shaw says fun keeps us young.

学习活动 Let's underline 学生画出para 1前4句。 学生选择B Let's complete Watching a funny film...; feeling youthful; B; connects; C Let's write T or F TFF 学生根据框架：Opinion Reason supporting detail写下自己的答案。 I think too much fun can (not) be bad for us. Because... 教学活动 教师呈现段落一，请学生画出作者开篇使用的例子。教师提问：The author uses the "island example" to ______. A. show how to survive alone B. prove fun is as important as basic needs C. describe a boring situation D. teach packing skills 教师总结：How to give your opinion → creating a situation → asking a question → answering the question 教师呈现表格，请学生阅读段落2、3、4完成表格内容。 核对答案B的时候教师追问：What did George Bernard Shaw say ; Which sentence has the closest meaning to: We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing. Playing keeps us young, and stopping play makes us old. We stop playing when we grow old, and that's natural. Staying active is important, but aging is inevitable. 教师总结The writer supports his / her opinion by giving an example, quoting a famous person and referring to research. 作者用举例、引用名言、引用研究的方法支持论点。 教师呈现三个句子，请学生阅读段落五后判断正误并划出判断依据。 教师追问：Can too much fun be bad for us You can give an example or use a research or a quote to support your opinion. 教师分享学生答案，开拓学生思维，引发学生思考。(教师可以根据学生情况灵活设置本题)
