Aarrav Anil is an 18-year-old student from India. He has had a deep interest in mechanics (机械学) since
childhood. He has taken part in more than 20 robotic competitions around the world.
But he didn’t create the smart spoon to win a prize. It was just because of his uncle, Arjun, who has Parkinson’
s disease (帕金森病). The disease makes Uncle Arjun’s hands shake, and he can’t control it. One day, they were
having a meal together. Uncle Arjun ate with a spoon, but the food kept falling off the spoon and onto his clothes,
which made him look in mess. When Aarrav saw this, he wanted to do something to help.
Aarrav soon started to act. He used a 3D printer to make tiny sensors (传感器) and controllers. The sensors
can find out the shaking of the hand. The controllers will then start working to stop the shaking. Thus keeps the
spoon stable (稳定的). The smart spoon finally came out.
The spoon can be washed. It is easy to clean and can also take the place of a fork. Aarrav has made the spoon

Could you imagine being in a car driven by a computer, not a human Recently, China has made a big step
toward self-driving technology. Since August, driverless taxis can run on roads in Wuhan, Chongqing and
Shenzhen.
Why do we develop self-driving cars Self-driving cars have many advantages. They use computers with
many cameras which can sense all the objects close to the car and give the computers another route (路线). Then
the car can take people to the place where they want to go. For disabled or blind people, self-driving cars can also
help them get around more easily.
According to US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, each year, more than 1.35 million people are
第 7页/共 16页
killed on roads around the world. It’s reported that self-driving cars could reduce road accidents by 90 percent. The
main cause of car accidents is human error (错误). By using computers, self-driving cars don’t make poor decisions
or lose attention like humans do.
But self-driving cars aren’t perfect. If something unexpected on the road happens, self-driving cars can’t react
as fast as a human driver can. Also, during weather events like heavy snow, self-driving cars wouldn’t see the lines
on the road easily. It might lead to an accident. The car’s computer system would be broken by someone, causing it
to crash or change its direction.
It’s clear that there is a lot of work to do to make self-driving cars a common and safe sight on our roads. And
China is taking the lead in making this happen.
62. Which cities are driverless taxis already common in
A. Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. B. Wuhan, Chongqing and Shenzhen.
C. Nanjing, Hangzhou and Suzhou. D. Tianjin, Dalian and Qingdao.
63. What is the main cause of car accidents according to the passage
A. Bad weather. B. Car trouble. C. Human error. D. Poor road conditions.
64. What is Paragraph 4 mainly about
A. What to do when there is bad weather. B. The advantage of having a human driver.
C. How to deal with the traffic accidents. D. The weakness of self-driving cars.
65. What can we know from the passage
A. Self-driving cars have caused many problems.
B. China is going to cut its costs in self-driving cars.
C. Self-driving cars are already commonly seen in the world.
D. China is trying to make self-driving cars safer and more common.

“Ne Zha 2”, which came out on January 29, 2025, has been really popular and won the love of audiences (观

It was made by the great director Jiaozi. The story continues (继续) from the first movie. After amazingly
surviving (幸存 ) the “Heavenly Tribulation”, Ne Zha and Ao Bing got a new chance to live because of Taiyi
Zhenren. Ne Zha used to be a bit rebellious (叛逆的), but now he starts a trip to find himself and grow up. For
example, when his friends are in danger, he quickly goes to help them, which shows his loyalty (忠诚) and new
sense of being responsible (责任感).
The friendship between Ne Zha and Ao Bing is very important and moving. They help each other all the time.
There’s a time when they face difficulties, instead of giving in (屈服), Ne Zha says, “If there’s no way, I’ll make
one!” This sentence not only shows his strong will but also makes their friendship stronger.
The movie is really cool! At the beginning, there are scenes of flowing hot stuff like lava (熔岩), and big sea
monsters popping out of the water. It’s so exciting! The battles (战争) are also really thrilling. The final big fight
against the powerful Tianyuan Ding is made even cooler with the amazing special effects (特效).
Besides being fun to watch, the film also teaches us good things. It makes us brave when we have problems,

I once beat myself
Once, I faced a difficult challenge that seemed insurmountable.
It was a math problem that had me stumped for days. The numbers and formulas swirled in my head, and I felt
overwhelmed. But I refused to give up. I took a deep breath, calmed my mind, and tackled the problem step by step.
Finally, I solved it! The feeling of overcoming my own limitations was indescribable. It was a sense of
empowerment and accomplishment. I realized that the biggest obstacle in my path was not the external challenges,
but my own doubts and fears. To beat oneself, one must believe in oneself. Face challenges head-on, stay calm and
focused, and never give up.
Remember, the journey to success is filled with obstacles, but with perseverance and courage, we can
overcome them all.
