In many countries, people work five eight-hour days or 40 hours a week. But some companies now want their employees (雇员) to work just four days a week and still pay them for five.
Companies with fewer working hours have found that their employees like their jobs more and do more at work. Jan Schulz-Hofen set up his company Planio in Berlin, Germany. Planio offered a four-day workweek to its workers earlier this year. Schulz-Hofen said, “It is much healthier and we do a better job if we’re not working crazy hours.”
Schulz-Hofen first tested the four-day workweek on himself. “I don’t get less work done in four days than in five,” he said. “With a four-day workweek,” he added, “I have to be quick, and I have to concentrate on work if I want to have my free Friday.” Schulz-Hofen added, “We got unexpected news from customers. Most of them did not show any unhappiness.”
Britain’s Trades Union Congress (TUC) is pushing the country to move to a four-day workweek. The group argues that a shorter workweek is a way for workers to share the wealth made by new technologies like robotics.
Kate Bell noted, “It will decrease the stress of dealing with working and family life at the same panies that have already tried it say it’s better for work and staff.”
In a study of 3,000 employees, nearly half thought they could easily finish their work in five hours a day if they did not think they have more time, because of which they were already working more than 40 hours a week anyway.
59. Paragraph 2 mainly tells us that ________.
A. Planio has healthier employees
B. Jan Schulz-Hofen is a successful boss

Serena let her phone fall to her leg as she listened to Tony. Maybe it wasn’t a perfect white sand beach, but it did sound pretty wonderful. She looked out of the window.

Since 1979, Grandparents’ Day has been celebrated in the US on the first Sunday after Labor Day. Here are some simple and fun ways to show your grandparents how much you love them.
Surprise them
Even though Grandparents’ Day has been marked for more than 40 years, many families don’t know about it. In one study, about 66% of grandparents said they had never celebrated Grandparents’ Day. If you haven’t noticed it before, surprise your grandparents this year.

Many grandparents say they wish they had more time with their grandchildren. So one of the best things you can do for Grandparents’ Day is to simply stay with them. You could plan to share a meal, go for a walk, read together, or invite them to one of your activities. Another way to connect is to ask your grandparents to teach you about one of their hobbies and then do it together.
Keep your family history
It’s important that their grandchildren know about the history they share. Many grandparents know the most about relatives and remember stories about when their parents were young. One way to learn more about your family’s history is to spend time going through old photos with your grandparents. Another choice is to interview a grandparent on video and share the result with the rest of your family.
66 Why does the writer mention the study
A. To tell us Grandparents’ Day has a long history.
B. To tell us Grandparents’ Day is not widely celebrated.
C. To tell us Grandparents’ Day is a big day to remember.
D. To tell us Grandparents’ Day doesn’t have many activities.
67. Which of the following can be put in ★
A. Spend time together B. Find out their hobbies
C. Record a message D. Tell them stories
68. How many ways are mentioned to help keep the family history
A. One. B. Two. C. Three. D. Four.
69 What does the passage mainly tell us
A. The importance of Grandparents’ Day. B. How to make Grandparents’ Day popular.
C. Some facts about Grandparents’ Day. D. How to make grandparents feel pleased.
【答案】66. B 67. A 68. B 69. D

Hurricanes (飓风) are very powerful storms that can cause terrible harm. Some hurricanes produce winds stronger than 155 mph that are able to harm homes and buildings. Knowing how and where hurricanes form can help keep you safe if a hurricane does come.
The hurricane forms over warm water after the ocean has been heated up during the hot summer months. Because it needs warm water, it happens most often during late summer and early fall. In the Atlantic Ocean, the hurricane season is from June to November.
Also, since hurricanes need warm ocean water to form, the people that are influenced by hurricanes live in areas near the coast. People who don’t live near the coast needn’t worry too much about staying safe during a hurricane. However, even though hurricanes happen near coastlines, strong winds can still go farther inland with lots of rain.
Hurricanes can be very dangerous. When a hurricane moves toward land, it can cause harm in a number of ways. If you live somewhere where hurricanes might happen, it is important for you to know what to do to protect yourself. First, have a plan to leave the area, and listen to local weather stations for any weather notices. If you don’t have time to leave, then find a safe place to stay. Make sure your shelter (避难所) is on higher ground, that the windows are closed, and that you stay inside until the hurricane passes.
70. What does the underlined word “it” refer to
A. Warm water. B. The hurricane. C. The hot summer. D. The summer month.
71. Which question does the passage answer
A. How do hurricanes form
B. How long does a hurricane last
C. What was the most powerful storm ever recorded
D. How do we stop hurricanes from moving toward land
72. Why does the writer write the last paragraph
A. To encourage the readers to learn more about hurricanes.
B. To ask the readers to live a little further away from the sea.
C. To tell the readers how to protect themselves during hurricanes.
D. To reach an agreement with the readers about the danger of the hurricanes.

Serena let her phone fall to her leg as she listened to Tony. Maybe it wasn’t a perfect white sand beach, but it did sound pretty wonderful. She looked out of the window.
Passing by, just on the other side of the road, was a group of animals! The two of them watched them walk slowly through the grass. She’d never seen animals so close before!
