“I’ve always had a pretty clear idea of what I want to do,” says Mary. You may not be as sure of your career as Mary. But you can start thinking about and planning for your future career. The following helps middle school students plan for careers.
Explore your interests Many middle school students don’t know what they want to do. But in fact, students may change their minds several times. And some of tomorrow’s careers might not exist(存在)today. Focusing on just one job in middle school isn’t necessary. But looking into the kinds of careers you might like can help you succeed.
Learn about yourself Understanding what you enjoy and what you’re good at is the most important step in exploring careers. Discover possible careers Once you’ve thought about the subjects and activities you like best, the next step is to look for careers that put those interests to use. If you love sports, you might consider a career as a P.E. teacher or a soccer coach. If you like English, a career as an English teacher, a translator or a tour guide might be a good choice.
Do your research After discovering possible jobs, you should learn more about them. Talking directly to workers on the phone or by email can help you get information about what they do. Even meeting with them in person is helpful. First-hand information is necessary for you to find out if you’ll really like a career.

If you do not use your arms or your legs for some time, they will become weak; when you start using them again, they slowly become strong again. Everybody knows that. Yet many people do not seem to know that memory (记忆) works in the same way. When someone says that he has a good memory, he really means that he keeps his memory in practice by using it. When someone else says that his memory is poor, he really means that he does not give it enough chance (机会) to become strong.
If a friend says that his arms and legs are weak, we know that it is his own fault (过错). But if he tells to us that he has a poor memory, many of us think that his parents may be to blame (责备), and few of us know that it is just his own fault. Have you ever found that some people can’t read or write but usually they have better memories This is because they cannot read or write, they have to remember the things. Since they cannot write them down in a small notebook, they have to remember days, names, songs and stories. Therefore, their memory is being exercised the whole time.
So if you want to have a good memory, learn from the people: practise remembering things in a way as other people do.
72.Someone can’t have a good memory if ________.
