第一节 判断正误
Duanwu Festival, also called the Dragon Boat Festival, is a popular traditional holiday in
China. It is usually celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar year. In Yunnan,
people have their own special ways to celebrate this festival, which mix both old traditions and
new ideas.
One important activity is making and eating zongzi. Zongzi are sticky rice dumplings
wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves. In most families, everyone helps—adults prepare the sticky rice and the fillings, and children wash the leaves. The process is busy but fun. After the zongzi
are cooked, they are shared with friends and neighbors. This shows the value of family and
community.
In many towns by rivers or lakes, people hold dragon boat races. Teams row long, colorful
boats with dragon heads and tails. The races are exciting, and many people cheer for their
favorite teams. There is also music and singing along the banks. It is a good chance for people to
enjoy themselves and show teamwork and strength.
In recent years, some cities in Yunnan have started a new activity called the Eco-Dragon
Boat Race. For this activity, teams build boats out of recycled materials like used plastic bottles,
pieces of wood, and old clothes. The goal is to remind people to care about the environment.
Before and after the races, students, teachers and other volunteers help clean rubbish from the
river. During the festival, there are also short talks where teams explain how their boats were
built and why people should save resources and protect nature.
Through these activities, people in Yunnan not only remember their cultural traditions, but
also learn about ways to protect the earth. As more cities join the Eco-Dragon Boat Race, the
Duanwu Festival in Yunnan has become a happy and meaningful event for both young and old.

Jiang Xingyu became the youngest chief engineer at a well-known energy company in
Yunnan. He was born in Chuxiong, a small city with strong winds and beautiful mountains. As a
child, Jiang was always interested in making small models with his hands. He enjoyed making
simple windmills from paper and old fans, and liked to watch them spin when the wind blew. His
parents encouraged his hobby and bought him science books, so he learned more about how
wind could be used to make electricity.
At university, Jiang studied physics and joined many science clubs. He worked very hard and
never stopped asking questions. His dream was to invent something useful for his hometown and
for China. After years of hard work, Jiang led a team of young engineers to invent a smart
windmill. This windmill could turn itself towards the wind and start or stop working by itself,
saving more energy than traditional ones. After making this smart windmill, Jiang’s team won a national innovation prize for their invention.
Now, as a successful engineer, Jiang wants to give back to society. He has helped build new
windmills in many parts of Yunnan, providing clean energy for thousands of people. In 2025, he
plans to visit local schools to teach students about science and environmental protection. Jiang
believes that young people in Yunnan can become great inventors too if they are curious and
work hard. He hopes his story will inspire more students to love science and protect the
environment.

In recent years, scientists have used cameras and other special tools to watch wild animals
in Yunnan’s rainforests. These rainforests are home to many interesting and rare animals, such as Asian elephants, red pandas, and bears. The scientists sometimes spend weeks or even months in the forest, setting up cameras on trees or near water. These cameras help them record animal activities both during the day and at night, without disturbing the animals.
After watching many videos, scientists found that different animals have special ways to
show what they want or how they feel. For example, Asian elephants often use their trunks and
big ears to“talk”to each other. When an elephant wants the group to follow it, it waves its trunk
forward as a signal. If the elephant feels angry, it moves its ears quickly and stamps (跺) its feet on the ground. This lets the other elephants know that they should be careful or stay away.
Red pandas are another lovely animal in the rainforest. When red pandas feel afraid, they
don’t run away. Instead, they sometimes stand up on their back legs to look bigger and scarier. This special action helps them protect themselves from danger. If red pandas feel safe or happy, they make soft, happy sounds and move slowly, showing they are relaxed.
Bears in Yunnan’s rainforests also have their own ways to live. Bears are clever at finding food. By smelling the air or the trees, they can find honey or fruit from far away. When a bear feels unhappy or worried, it often sits alone under a big tree until it feels better.
These studies are very important because they help us learn how animals “talk” to each other without words. By understanding animal body language and habits, scientists can find better ways to protect local wildlife in Yunnan for the future.

Living a Low-Carbon Life
In recent years, my family and I have started to live a low-carbon life. We try our best to
take buses or ride bikes instead of driving cars. We also bring our own shopping bags when we
go to the supermarket, and we don’t use plastic bags. At home, my parents often remind me to turn off the lights and save water.
I find that living a low-carbon life is not difficult. For example, I have learned to separate our
waste and put it in different bins. We also reuse bottles and old clothes. Sometimes, we use
waste paper to make simple handicrafts. These small changes make our life greener and more
interesting.
Through these actions, I understand that every person can help protect the environment. If
everyone does something small, our world will become cleaner and better. I hope more people
will join us and make low-carbon living a habit.《机密★考试结束前

When the project started, everyone followed a clear 12 : First, a group would check for danger,
then another team would guide the elephants. Some volunteers used 13 to find the best route.
Lisa and Michael, two volunteers, worked together. Lisa tried to encourage Michael, “Let’s 14
our best. Remember, every step 15 .”
Michael was in charge of 16 the group’s equipment. He said,“It’s important to keep all things
in order. If 17 is missing, it could be dangerous.”
After some difficulties, the project ended 18 .“Thanks to everyone’s 19 , the elephants are back
in the forest!” a local reporter said. Lisa and Michael learned that only by helping 20 and doing the right thing in order could they succeed.

After the zongzi are cooked, they are shared with friends and neighbors. This shows the value of family and community.
