Long ago in ancient China, there was a wise judge (法官) named Judge Li who was famous
for his cleverness. One day, a farmer named Wang came to his court (法庭), crying, “Your Honor,
my best horse is gone! I saw it in my neighbor Zhang’s horse barn (马 棚 ). I know it’s mine
because it has a white spot (斑点) on its forehead. But Zhang refuses to return it!”
Judge Li called Zhang, who argued, “This horse has been mine for years. Wang is lying!”
The villagers disagreed—some believed Wang, while others trusted Zhang.
To solve the problem, Judge Li ordered the horse to be brought to the courtroom. He
covered its head with a cloth and asked both men, “Describe the horse’s eyes in detail.”
Wang said at once, “Its left eye is slightly cloudy because it was hurt last year.” Zhang
stopped, then guessed, “Its eyes are big and black, like all healthy horses!”
Judge Li removed the cloth, showing the horse’s cloudy left eye. Zhang’s face turned white.
The judge said, “A true owner knows everything of his animal. The horse is Wang’s.”
But the story didn’t end there. A week later, the horse ran away into the mountains. Wang’s
son ran after it but broke his leg. The villagers sighed, “What bad luck!” Wang, however, calmly
said, “Who knows if this is truly bad luck ”
Soon after, a war broke out, and all young men were called to serve in the army—except
Wang’s son, who didn’t have to go because of his injury (受伤). The villagers then understood:
what seems like bad luck may turn into something good.

A.To hide the white spot and make the test more difficult.

D.Because he didn’t care what the villagers thought.
25.What is the main lesson of this story

Singapore is a small country known for its rules, but these rules also mean that Singapore is
a very clean and safe place. Here are some of Singapore’s most well-known rules.
试卷第 1 页,共 3 页
Singapore tries hard to keep the country clean. Everyone must throw their litter in a bin, not
on the ground. If someone litters, they might have to pay a fine (罚款) of up to $1,000!
Durians (榴莲) have a very strong smell, and the smell can stay for a long time even when
the durian is gone. Because of this, people must not take durians on public transport like buses,
subways or trains.
In 1992, Singapore made a law that people mustn’t buy, sell or chew gum (嚼口香糖). This
is because chewing gum is messy when people throw it away.
If you visit Singapore, be careful when you cross the road. Look for a pedestrian crossing—
a safe place to cross. If there is one near, you must use it. You can get a $50 fine if you cross the
road in any other place.
Singapore’s rules make it a clean and safe place. When everyone, follows the rules, it
makes the country a better place. Maybe Singapore can be a good example for other places around
the world.
根据短文内容,选择正确答案。

In the 19th Asian Games, there are a few unknown ball games, which we may not see
people play in our daily life. Let’s learn about three of them.
Squash (壁球)
People in the UK first started to play Squash in the early l9th century. It became a part of
the Asian Games in 1986. Like tennis, squash is also a bat (球拍) and ball sport, but the rules (规
则) of squash are quite different from tennis. Like other sports, such as tennis and badminton, the
two players take turns to hit (击打) the ball against the front wall. If a player lets the ball bounce
(弹跳) on the floor twice before he hits it, the other player gets a point.
Sepak Takraw (藤球)
Sepak Takraw is a team sport from South-East Asia. Kicking (踢 ) volleyball is another
name for the sport. It’s played by two teams of 2-4 players on a court which is like a badminton or
volleyball court. Players play with a rattan (藤条) ball which is smaller in size than a volleyball. In
order to kick the ball over the net, players need to practice hard to jump high and flips (翻转) very
quickly because they cannot use the arms.
Handball
Modern handball was first played in Denmark (丹麦). A handball game can be played with
a court, two goals (球门) and a ball. A handball game lasts for about 60 minutes. After the first
half, 30 minutes, there is a 10-minute break. If one team throws the ball into the opponent’s (对手)
goal, it will get one point. In a game, one team wins the game if it gets more points than the other
team.

Dear Sam,
You asked me about the weather here and my school life this term. Now let me tell you
something about them.
It’s warm and windy in spring, just right for flying a kite. And in summer, it’s really hot
and rainy.
When it comes to lunch, I have a favorite choice. I always enjoy a medium bowl of cold
noodles at school. It’s delicious!
Our school organizes a variety of colorful and meaningful activities. Last month, my class
went on an unforgettable school trip to the East Lake. We spent hours fishing patiently by the lake.
Then, we worked together in small groups to cook a simple but satisfying meal. After that, we
played exciting games on the grassy shore. The laughter and joy echoed all around. How relaxing

Singapore is a small country known for its rules, but these rules also mean that Singapore is
试卷第 1 页,共 3 页
a very clean and safe place. Here are some of Singapore’s most well-known rules.
Maybe Singapore can be a good example for other places around
the world.
