It’s nine in the evening and Zhang Luyang is doing her math homework. Then she wants to have a short rest so she opens the app Douyi n on her phone to watch some short videos. But half an hour later, she is still watching.
Zhang is one of many teenagers who enjoy watching short videos (短视频). Now about 20 percent of teenagers watch short videos in their free time. About 10 percent of teenagers watch short videos several times a day.
Sun Zhenyao says he likes short videos because they’re interesting. “It’s the perfect thing to do when I want to kill time,” he said.
Li Fei says she learns a lot by watching short videos. She follows a Chinese vlogger (视频博主) living in the US on Douyin. “His videos teach me about cultural differences,” she said.

What can we do when we disagree with our parents
Sally is a teenage girl who wants to be a dancer. But her parents don’t support her dream. “We want you to be a doctor, ” they tell her. Sally often feels sad. She thinks her parents always tell her what to do and don’t care about her opinion. She wants to obey her parents’ wishes, but she also wants to follow her dreams. A few months ago, she wants to go on a trip with her friends. Her parents said no to that again. “I just want to be my own person, ” Sally thought to herself. “What should I do ”
Being a teenager is hard. You feel old enough to make up your own mind, but your parents always think that they know what’s best for you. So, how can Sally fix her problem
First, teenagers can try to look at things from their parents’ point of view. Parents often have “long-imagined futures for their kids”, US psychologist Nick Friedman wrote in Psychology Today. This means that when our parents control what we do, they’re trying to guide us. Our parents have been through many more things than we have. They were once teenagers themselves. So it makes sense to trust their wisdom and experience. After all, they don’t control us to be mean. They do it because they love us.
But let’s also look at things through a teenager’s eyes. Many teens feel like they should be given more responsibilities. ① _________, parents often don’t agree with their children’s decisions. Instead of just accepting their choice or arguing ② _________ them, you should try sharing your feelings with your parents. US psychologist Carl E Pickhardt wrote in Psychology Today that sharing feelings with your parents can lead to positive changes, while not sharing them can cause misunderstandings.
So, if you feel that a decision your parents have made is unfair, you should sit down together and talk about it. By coming up with a reasonable argument and sharing your feelings, you may be able to change their minds. Their trust in you will also grow. As you get older, you’ll be able to make more choices on your own. At the same time, however, try to find a common ground to build ③ _________ with your parents first.

Tai Chi is an ancient martial art (武术) that forms part of the Chinese culture. There are different kinds of Tai Chi, which makes it a little difficult to the common people. To most people, Tai Chi is just a slow form of exercise to be played at a local fitness class. But to those who deeply enjoy the art, it is far more than that. People do not realize that Tai Chi has a long and interesting history that dates back centuries.
If you wish to take part in Tai Chi classes, truly enjoy the health advantages and understand the true meaning behind the art, having an understanding of the martial art’s history is necessary. In fact, I would like to say that it’s important.
It’s said that Tai Chi was created by Zhang Sanfeng. It was first designed as a fighting practice, and has mostly become a meditative (冥想的) form of exercise now. Over the years, different simpler types of Tai Chi have been created to suit the Western world.
According to a story, Zhang Sanfeng met a crane (鹤) and a snake one day. The crane was hitting the snake but instead of hitting back, the snake was quickly avoiding each hit while moving in unison (协调地) with the crane, tiring it out. The snake appeared to be using the crane’s energy against it. And if the crane were to attack the tail of the snake after all of its efforts, the snake would possibly strike and win.
At least that is how the story goes. It was this relationship of energy between opponents (对手) and the self-defense style that encouraged Zhang to create Tai Chi Chuan. That is what we now know as Tai Chi.A.根据短文内容简要回答问题。

No matter who you are or where you live, the most important thing is what kind of person you are. There are many good qualities (品质) that can make you better in your life. Among them, the following four qualities are the most helpful ones.
Have a positive attitude (积极乐观的态度).
Life is not always a bed of roses. When facing difficulties, don’t lose heart. Do you know what can help you overcome difficulties It’s your attitude. Cheer up! Life is like a mirror. When you smile at it, it will also smile at you.
Keep learning.
Maybe you are very busy now. Every day you have so many things to do that you can’t find any time to study. However, the world around you is changing all the time. Don’t think you are better than others, or you will fall behind others. Keep learning can help you succeed in the future.
Be creative.
In modern society, people with creative thinking are mostly needed. Being creative means thinking up new ideas and having a creative imagination. Those who are creative have more choices in their life.
Be honest.
Honesty is very important. Nobody likes a person who tells lies. The one who keeps his word is popular everywhere.
As long as you have these qualities mentioned above, you will be excellent and make a difference to the world. Albert Einstein once said, “Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value.”

China is making a big change to when people can stop working. The government will slowly raise the retirement (退休) age. Men will retire at 63 instead of 60, and women will retire at 55 or 58 instead of 50 or 55. Why
首先,中国人口正在老龄化。By 2050, about 35% of people will be over 60 years old. With more older people and fewer young workers, there won’t be enough people to support everyone. Delaying (延迟) retirement means more people will keep working. They will also keep paying into the retirement money system, helping it stay strong.
Second, people are living longer and healthier. In the 1950s, the average lifespan (寿命) was about 40 years, but it is 78.6 years in 2023. Many older adults are active and want to work longer. This helps the economy (经济) and keeps older people feeling useful.
Some people worry that older workers will take away jobs from young people. But experts say this is not a big problem. Older workers often have different skills and jobs than young people. Also, the number of young workers is reducing, so there’s a need for more people to fill jobs.
This change is part of a plan to make society fair and strong. It will take effect from January 1,2025. By working together, China hopes to balance the needs of all generations (世代). What do you think Will you encourage your grandparents to keep working when they’re older
