“Am I an ‘I’ person or an ‘E’ person ” It is a popular topic among young people around China today. Many people are crazy about it so that they take a personality (性格) test named the Myers-Briggs test to find out the answer.
Many people find the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Test Indicator) useful. It groups people into 16 types, which start with the letter “I” or “E”, such as “ENTJ” “INFP”, or more. “E” is short for “Extroversion” while “I” i s for “Introversion”. “I’m an ‘E’ person. I should go to the party and make more friends.” “I’m an ‘I’ person. I’d like to work by myself. I could be a writer in the future.” They believe different types can help them make decisions for activities, jobs, or even life choices more quickly.
But there are also problems. Some people take the test for a second time and get different results. Some people find it hard to answer some questions. “I like watching TV by myself. But I also enjoy playing with friends. Am I an ‘I’ or an ‘E’?”
When you take a personality test, you may think, “Oh, that’s me.” That’s because the descriptions (描述) are generic. They can be used to describe many people. Research has found that the over 50% of people got a different point when they retook the MBTI just five weeks later. Personalities can change with time, and they are not black-or-white, scientists say. You may be introverted now but become extroverted when you get older. Or, you can be both an “I” and an “E”. Don’t label yourself! Studies have also shown that the test is not real at telling people’s success in different jobs. So, don’t take it too seriously.

There are many ways to get people to do what you want. You can order them around. “Do this!” “Do that!” You can also threaten (威胁) them. “You had better do what I say or else...” But these methods might not get the best results and you probably will lose a few friends.

It’s important for us to keep trying to achieve our goals. I love running and I have kept running for three years.
When I was in Grade 7, I was not good at sports and running was always my headache. I often failed in my running test. In order to catch up with my classmates, I began to practice running every day after school. Sometimes, I was so tired that I really wanted to give up. But I kept telling myself that I could make it. No matter what kind of difficulty I faced, I tried my best to keep running.
Now I do much better in running and I’m very proud of myself.

In 1943, an old boat was found underwater. The boat was very different from today’s boats. Today, people use computers, metal, and large machines to make boats. But a long time ago, people used wood and small machines to make boats. After the old boat was found, a group of people decided to build another boat. They wanted the new boat to be exactly like the old boat. And they wanted to make it the old way, too. The workers used wood from trees in Africa. They put the wood together with rope. They covered the rope with fish oil. The workers learned a lot about the old way of building boats. They finished the boat in 2010.They sailed to Singapore from Oman and traveled thousands of kilometers across the ocean. The boat sailed through storms and strong winds, and it arrived safely.
