Trees are an important part of our planet. They clean the air that we breathe, help remove pollutants, and provide lovely shade on a hot summer day. In fact, they’re so important to life on Earth that merely living close to trees makes human beings healthier and happier. Making a few lifestyle changes may not seem like a lot, but you’re sure to help make the planet a better place.
1. Avoid products made with palm oil.
Palm (棕榈) oil is often found in makeup shampoo, noodles, chocolate, laundry detergent, ice cream, baked goods, soap, and bread. Palm oil cultivation requires a lot of land, and much of that land is used to contain healthy natural forests. Read labels at the shopping mall to make sure that the products you buy don’t contain any palm oil.
2. Use less paper.
The less paper you use, the fewer trees will be needed. Whenever possible, find ways to reduce the amount of paper you use. Bring a reusable mug with you to the coffee shop and ask them to pour your coffee in there. Buy used books or get an e-reader so that you don’t need to buy paperbacks hot off of the press.
3. Go for cloth products over paper when possible.
Cloth is always preferable to paper since you can wash and reuse it. Sure, you’ll need to use some water to clean it, but it beats using paper products over and over again if you want to save the trees! Get yourself a few washable shopping bags and use those instead of the paper and plastic ones that stores use.
4. Look for chances to ▲ .
There are a lot of non-profit organizations out there that fight to protect trees. Looking online and reaching out to local groups on social media is a great way to get leads on volunteering chances near you. If you can’t get out to volunteer yourself, you can find organizations looking for help near you by getting online and visiting https://arbordaynow.volunteermatch.org/
28. Which part of a magazine is this passage most probably taken from
A. Science. B. Business. C. Culture. D. Lifestyle.
29. The passage above mainly shows us ________.
A. how to save trees B. how to use less paper
C. how to make palm oil D. how to choose paper products
30. Which is the most suitable word for ▲
A. protect trees B. volunteer yourself C. visit websites D. donate money

Let me begin by introducing a mysterious English gentleman called Phileas Fogg. He is very handsome and a true gentleman. He is certainly rich, but no one knows how he made his money. He leads a highly routine (常规的) life, which makes some believe they know him well, though few truly do.
Fogg can name numerous countries and share incredible facts about them. He might have traveled, but some insist he hasn’t left London in years, perhaps only journeying in his mind.
He’s a private man with few friends. The only time he speaks to other people is at the Reform Club, where he reads papers and plays cards for enjoyment, not victory. He often wins, but he does not keep the money. He gives it to charity. He likes to see his games as a challenge; a challenge that does not require any physical effort.
Fogg has lunch daily at the club, in the same room, at the same table and returns home at midnight. His home in Savile Row, central London, is rarely visited, except by his manservant (男仆). This morning, his previous manservant lost the job for bringing too hot shaving water, marking the start of our story.
Between eleven and half past eleven, Fogg was sitting in his armchair waiting for his new manservant, Jean Passepartout, a Frenchman. He’d had a diverse career, from teaching PE and music to singing, circus-riding, and working for the Paris fire brigade. Attracted by the idea of Fogg’s quiet lifestyle, he came for the job. When Passepartout was four minutes late according to Fogg’s watch, Fogg hired him from 11:26.
Fogg, around forty, was elegant, calm, with blond hair and a moustache. He never seemed upset or worried. He was a typical Englishman. It was always difficult to guess an Englishman’s true feelings. Passepartout, attractive and strong, had blue eyes and untidy, curly brown hair. He was a sweet person who understood the meaning of true friendship and loyalty.
After Fogg left, Passepartout explored the house. In Fogg’s room, clothes were divided into seasons; each jacket had a number. In the corner, there was a safe for keeping money, watches and other items. In his own bedroom, he found an electric clock. Below it there was a piece of paper listing the details of Mr Fogg’s day.
8.20: tea and toast 9.37: water for shaving (body temperature) 11.25: Brush Mr. Fogg’s jacket …
The list told Passepartout everything he needed to do from morning until midnight.
“ 2 , thought Passepartout.” A man who is as regular as clockwork! This is just what I was looking for.”

D. With a well-planned routine, Mr Fogg may be unprepared to any changes.

The Yixing zisha, or the purple clay teapot, from the Ming Dynasty (1368—1644), is world-famous for its long history and great artistic achievements.
Yixing city in East China’s Jiangsu Province, known as a “pottery capital”, is rich in purple sand, which makes the teapot very special. Purple clay or zisha, comes from deep in the mountains near the city of Yixing. The most pure zisha clay comes from the mines of Huanglong Mountain area in Dingshu Town. The clay contains many minerals (矿物质), such as iron and quart, which help to create the perfect teapot by keeping the water hot, helping the tea to infuse properly and to “breathe” thanks to its porous (多孔的) nature.
Yixing zisha teapots are popular not only as high-quality containers for brewed tea, but also for their polished design. Craftsmen in Yixing continue to connect Chinese tea culture with court culture and folk art, to make their pots more delightful and functional. Today, Yixing has become a lively place for craftsmen and artists to study the history and culture of zisha pottery.
In a country that values and enriches the cultural tradition of tea drinking, teapots are not only crafts for tea ceremonies.
In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Portugal (中葡建交). Portugal Post has issued (发行) a pair of stamps featuring local teapots.
The new pair of stamps consists of a ?0.53 stamp depicting a traditional Portuguese silver teapot and a ?0.91 stamp showing a well-known Chinese Yixing zisha teapot.
Yixing zisha teapots have been sent to Europe since the 17th century and are considered the world’s finest. It is the second time China and Portugal have cooperated to issue stamps. The first time was in 2001. It was during the celebration of the traditional Chinese New Year in Portugal. The theme of the celebration was sailing ships, which celebrated the history of navigation.
34. The main purpose of this passage is ________.
A. to introduce the Yixing zisha
B. to tell the history of the Yixing zisha
C. to show the importance of the Yixing zisha
D. to describe the friendship between China and Portugal
35. The following paragraph would best be placed at the end of ________.

A. Paragraph 2 B. Paragraph 3 C. Paragraph 4 D. Paragraph 5
36. How does the writer explain the Yixing zisha is a bridge between cultures
A. By showing pictures. B. By presenting reasons. C. By giving examples. D. By drawing conclusions.
37. What can we learn about Yixing zisha teapots

Tasty rice dumplings with local variations in fillings have been a tradition of China’s Dragon Boat Festival for centuries.
The Duanwu Festival, otherwise known as the Dragon Boat Festival, was established in remembrance of Qu Yuan, a ministerial scholar and patriotic poet of the state of Chu during the Waring States period (475—221 BC).
Qu Yuan, who died by committing suicide (自杀) in the Miluo River, was known as a good man. Shortly after he died, the local people, at the time of the event, threw food into the water to distract (分散注意力), and feed, the fish from eating Qu Yuan’s body. They also sat on long, narrow boats, known as dragon boats, making sound to frighten away the fish.
Traditional celebrations of the Dragon Boat Festival include eating zongzi, drinking realgar wine, and racing dragon boats.
The festival date, reckoned on the fifth day of the fifth month on the Chinese lunar calendar, falls on May 31 this year.
You don’t have to live in China long to know that the country’s most popular foods usually have a good story behind them. That’s particularly true of festival foods such as zongzi, the pyramid-shaped rice packages in bamboo or reed leaves that have been associated (有关联的) with the Dragon Boat Festival for more than one thousand years.
Zongzi, rice dumplings wrapped in leaves, remain with us today as the traditional way to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival. They’ve been called “carefully wrapped packages of pure love”. In general, northern Chinese are more fond of sweet versions of these steamed treats, while southerners prefer them to be salty.

Homework helps me level up so I’m really happy here to share my experience with you.
My favourite kind of English homework is making posters because they let me be creative while learning. Instead of doing exercises, I can use pictures, colors, and short words to explain big ideas. It helps me remember things better!
Last year, my class made posters about saving the environment. I chose to focus on protecting forests. I picked photos of forests and animals, and turned numbers into easy charts. My teacher thought highly of my poster. It made me feel proud.
Making posters taught me how to make boring facts exciting. It’s cooler than regular homework because I get to share my ideas in a creative way!(100 words)
