Kindness as Our Virtue
Being kind is a traditional virtue of Chinese people. I believe kindness is the foundation of a
harmonious society. When someone is in trouble, we'll give a helping hand. In this way, we can
make our world better.
When I started middle school, my friend Peter failed the math exam. He was so sad that he
wanted to give up. When I knew this, I encouraged him and gave him some advice. Every day we
did homework together. When he met some difficult math problems, l would explain them to him.
With my help, he got an A in the next math exam. He was really happy and I was also proud.
From this experience, I realize a small kind act can change a person. We should be kind to
others.2025 年江苏省无锡市中考三模英语试题

Shopping for down (绒毛) jackets in summer will save you a lot of money. The information below will help
you choose down jackets of high quality.
What makes down jackets warm
≥50% a down jacket
Down cluster content (充 绒量)
<50% not a down jacket
A down jacket keeps you warm by trapping air in its fluffy (毛茸茸的) filling. This air forms a warm layer (层) that holds in your body heat.
What should you check when choosing a down jacket
√ The quality standard on the tag (标签) should be GB/T14272-2021. √ Fill weight is the total weight of the down in the jacket.
With 100g or less filling Only good for temperatures around 0℃
With more than 200g filling Good for temperatures around-20℃
√ Down cluster content
For most people,75% down cluster content is enough to stay warm. √ Touch
Press (按压) down on the down jacket and then let go. If it quickly goes back to its original
(原本的) shape, it means the jacket is very fluffy and will keep you warmer.
√Smell
A down jacket that smells bad has low-quality filling.
× Types and colours of down
Q1: Is goose (鹅) down warmer than duck down
A1: No! Goose down jackets are more expensive because geese produce less down than
ducks.
Q2: Is white duck down warmer than grey duck down
A2: No! They are both equally warm.

A. The quality standard. B. Down cluster content.
C. Smell of the filling. D. The colours of down.
26. What can we infer (推断) from the passage

B. Different down jackets have different quality standards.
C. We can know down cluster content by pressing down jackets.
D. The type of down influences the quality of a down jacket.
27. What is the main purpose of the passage
A. To tell people why down jackets can keep people warm.

C. To warn sellers not to sell fake (假冒的) down jackets.
D. To explain how to choose high-quality down jackets.

①Have you ever had a home visit from your teachers In the past, home visits were an important way for
teachers and parents to communicate. However, this tradition is becoming less popular now. Instead, new forms of
home visits are becoming more common.
②A recent survey in Zhejiang Province asked 6,200 parents about home visits. Surprisingly, 85.5% of them
said they disliked traditional home visits. Why Many parents worry about privacy, and others feel it takes too
much time to prepare. For teachers, they have great difficulty as well because they already manage heavy work
pressure. Visiting every student’s home adds stress to their energy and time.
③While traditional home visits are fading, schools are finding creative ways to connect with families and
keep communication strong. For example, Wang Hongjun, a school headmaster, believes home visits help build
trust between families and schools. However, he thinks traditional visits need to be changed. Wang changed how
the school communicates with families by holding parent-teacher meetings twice every term. Instead of long
discussions, teachers provide a 30-minute summary (总结), followed by one-on-one meetings with subject
teachers that last 15 to 20 minutes per parent. This saves time and helps make communication clearer and more
purposeful.
④Schools are also creating “parent classrooms.” These are special groups where parents can join activities
like book clubs or skill-building workshops. These activities help parents learn new things, which is also good
their children’s growth. This idea not only improves the relationship between schools and families but also adds
warmth and meaning to education.
⑤Some schools are testing even more flexible (灵活的) methods. In Shanghai, parents can choose between
home visits or online meetings. A few schools even organize meetings in teahouses to make parents feel relaxed.
“These new methods result in full communication and understanding between home and school,” a parent said.
28. Why do most surveyed parents in Zhejiang dislike traditional home visits
A. Because they find it hard to talk with every subject teacher at home.
B. Because they are already under too much work and health pressure. C. Because they either value their privacy or find the preparation tiring.
D. Because they think such communication is a waste of time and energy.
29. What is the new method used by Wang Hongjun’s school every term
A. Starting online classes for parents. B. Holding twice-a-term parent meetings.
C. Paying home visits every week. D. Providing tearoom meetings with students.
30. What is the passage mainly about
A. Modern schools with online teaching.
B. The development of traditional education.
C. New ways of teacher-parent communication.
D. The relationships between teachers and parents.
C
The she-wolf walked deeper into the cave. It was larger inside than at the opening. It was warm and dry.
The opening was small enough for her to stop anything dangerous from coming inside. She lay down and rested.
She had found what she was looking for.
One-Eye entered the cave, but the she-wolf growled at him, and he quickly backed
out again. He was hungry, and he went off to hunt. He was away from the cave for many
hours. When he returned, he heard noises inside. He did not know what they were. He tried
to enter the cave, but the she-wolf growled at him again. She now had five wolf cubs. She
was afraid that One-Eye would eat them. She knew that male wolves sometimes ate their cubs.
One-Eye was not that kind of wolf. He knew he had to find food for his mate and her cubs. He set off to
hunt again. Before long, he saw a small animal. It was big enough to eat, but as he moved toward it, it rolled itself
into a ball. It was a porcupine (豪猪), an animal with sharp spines. When it is attacked, it shoots these spines at its
attacker. He was afraid of the porcupine, so he moved on and looked for other small animals to eat.
He came to the river bank. A large water bird was standing there. One-Eye leapt at it and caught it. He was
hungry and began to eat the bird. He remembered the she-wolf and her cubs in the cave. She needed food. He
picked up the dead bird and began to carry it back to the cave.
He returned to where he had seen the porcupine. Another animal was watching the porcupine. It was a lynx.
The lynx was waiting for the right moment to attack the porcupine. One-Eye decided to watch and see what would
happen.
The porcupine thought it was safe and began to unroll. As soon as it unrolled, the lynx sprang forward and
tried to bite it. The porcupine quickly rolled itself up again and shot sharp spines into the lynx. The lynx leapt into
the air in great pain and then ran off.
One-Eye saw that the porcupine was badly hurt. He waited. One-Eye could see a good place to bite it, but
he waited until he was sure the porcupine was dead. Then he picked it up and carried it back to where he had left
the dead bird. He quickly ate the bird and carried the dead porcupine back to the cave.
The she-wolf let him come in with the food. She knew now that he was not the kind of mate who would eat
the cubs. She knew he would take care of her and her family.

Recently, a great scientific discovery amazed the world. Chinese scientists have
already found a new method to produce water on the Moon, which could change how we
think about living on the Moon in the future! They wrote about their discovery in a science
magazine called The Innovation. Their discovery shows that by using lunar soil (月壤),
scientists can create a lot of water on the Moon.
In the past, missions to the Moon showed that there might be ice at the Moon’s north
and south poles (极). However, there isn’t much water in lunar soil—only a little bit, like
0.0001 percent to 0.02 percent, which makes it hard to find and use water there. So it’s
difficult for people to expect to live on the Moon.
The researchers, however, found something exciting, after studying the rocks and soil from the Moon
brought back by the Chang’e-5 spacecraft. One of the exciting things they discovered is that lunar soil melts (融化)
when it reaches over 1,000℃. When it begins to melt, it produces water vapor (蒸气). They learned that just 100g
of lunar soil can give us 5.1g to 7.6g of water. So, if we had one ton of lunar soil, we could get between 51kg and
76kg of water. That’s enough to give drinking water to 50 people for one day!
All in all, this research opens up new possibilities for finding water on the Moon. It’s important for future
trips to the Moon and people who might live there someday. As we learn more about how to make water from
lunar soil, we get closer to the dream of humans living on the Moon. This discovery could help make that dream
come true!
34. Why does the writer mention the earlier research in Paragraph 2
A. To show that it was totally wrong.
B. To compare it with the new discovery.
C. To prove that there is no running water on the Moon.
D. To explain why people wanted to live on the Moon before.
35. How much water may scientists get if they have 1,000g of lunar soil
A. B. C. D.
36. What’s the writer’s attitude (态度) towards the dream of humans living on the Moon
A. Hopeful. B. Worried. C. Surprised. D. Doubtful.
37. What can we infer (推断) from the text
A. Humans are the builders of the earth.
B. Mistakes often help us find the truth.
C. Scientific discoveries are continually moving forward.
D. Future space exploration faces challenges and chances.

“Lift the dragon head! Stay together! Hold on your position!” The captain’s voice was loud. The golden
dragon shone under the lanterns. The crowd cheered, but I could only hear my own heart beat so fast, waiting for
the order from the captain to start. It was the Spring Festival, and I was about to perform my first dragon dance.
Weeks ago, I never imagined being part of this tradition. As an American in China, I had always admired the
dragon dance from afar. When I was invited to join the team, I excitedly accepted, thinking it would be easy and
fun. However, from the first practice, I realized it was much harder than I expected.
The dragon dance required strength, rhythm, and teamwork. If one person was off, the whole dragon looked
awful. The dragon was heavier than I thought, and after minutes of lifting, my arms ached. My legs burned from
all the jumping, and I kept stepping out of sync (不同步). Watching my teammates move smoothly, I felt
discouraged (泄气) and even considered giving up. But I reminded myself why I had joined—to challenge myself
and experience Chinese culture. I kept practicing, learning to feel the rhythm instead of just copying the steps.
Slowly, I improved.
Now, the real performance had begun. I listened carefully to the captain’s orders and moved with the beat.
The dragon rose and fell, just like the real one. Then came the hardest move—the “Flying Dragon Jump.” I took a
deep breath and lifted the dragon as high as I could. It flew through the air and landed smoothly. The crowd
cheered loudly.
After the performance, I was breathing hard, and sweat (汗水) covered my face. But as I looked around at the
glowing lanterns, my smiling teammates, and the joyful crowd, I felt very proud. I had worked hard, and it had
paid off. More than that, I had truly become part of something special.
58. Where does the writer come from
______________________________________________________________
59. What did the writer think of the dragon dance before the first practice

60. How long did the writer spend on the practice at most
