Why did Li Hua decide to learn Tujia brocade ”
Her grandmother said, ‘This art carries our ancestors’ souls.’”
答案:To inherit her cultural heritage.
观点:明确表态(Agree/Disagree)。
文本依据:引用关键句(如“Li Hua’s persistence saved the craft”)。
预测题目:“What qualities made the boy a hero ”(答案:courage, selflessness)。
预测题目:“How did the girl help her village ”(答案:promoted local crafts online)。
What caused the difference in their
feelings ”
Will she accept Write a possible
ending.”
Red Army, revolutionary spirit, Xiangjiang River
非遗传承 intangible heritage, Tujia brocade, Miao embroidery
乡村振兴 rural revitalization, livestreaming sales, village tourism
文化类:Huxiang Spirit(湖湘精神)、Changsha Huogongdian(火宫殿小吃)。
情感类:gratitude(感恩)、perseverance(毅力)。

When I was in high school, school was a big part of my life. I spent most of my days there,
learning new things and having fun with my friends. But one experience really stood out and has
stayed with me.
One sunny morning in my first year of high school, my English teacher came into the
classroom with a big smile. She told us that we would be putting on a musical at the end of the
year. I had always loved singing and dancing, but I had never really tried it before. This was a
chance I decided to catch.
During the practices, I was filled with both excitement and nervousness. Sometimes I
would forget my words and feel really worried, my heart beating wildly in my chest. But when we
performed well, I felt so proud and happy, like we had achieved something truly special. Through

before.

and to keep trying even when things are hard. I also learned that it’s good to try new things and
step out of my comfort zone.
Looking back, I’m really thankful for that opportunity and all the lessons it taught me. It

As the world’s largest real-time ticketing platform, 12306 serves over 700 million daily
users and handles (处理) more than 50 billion daily visits at the busiest time. The “super brain”
behind this platform is Shan Xinghua, the leading researcher at the China Academy of Railway
Sciences Corporation.
Shan began her job in 1996 when she joined a new team with the task of creating a national
ticketing system. Over the years, she has led the system through several key milestones.
When the system was first introduced in 2011, it faced its biggest challenge during the 2012
Spring Festival travel rush. It broke down several times because of the heavy visits. Faced with
this challenge, Shan told her team, “We must find a way, no matter how difficult it is.” Working

visits and doubling its daily ticket sales ability.
In 2017, Shan Xinghua and her team started the e-ticket reform (改 革 ) in Hainan.
Passengers could enter the station through facial scanning Shan found the slow speed
was the biggest problem with the facial recognition (识别) system. Then Shan and her team spent
several months developing a new facial recognition system. With it, passengers can pass through
the ticket gate in about 1.5 seconds.

was losing his memory.
Steve, a professional software engineer, was also a lover of the piano and the only musician
in his family. Music was his true passion, though he had never performed outside the family.
Melissa, his daughter, felt it more worthwhile (值 得 的 ) than anything else to save his
music. So she thought about hiring a professional pianist to work with her father.
Naomi, Melissa’s best friend and a talented pianist, knew about this and showed
willingness to help.
Naomi drove to the Goodwin home. She told Steve she’d love to hear him play. Steve
moved to the piano and sat at the bench to play for the first time in his life for a stranger.
“It was beautiful.” Naomi said after listening. “The music was really worth saving.”
Naomi and Steve met every other week and spent hours together. He’d move his fingers
slowly on the piano, and then she’d take his place. He struggled to explain what he heard in his
head. He stood by the piano, listening for the first time to his own work being played by someone
else.
Working with Naomi did wonders for Steve. It had excited his belief that he could write one
last song. One day, Naomi received an email. Attached was a recording, a recording of loss and
love, of the fight. Steve called it “Melancholy Flower”.
Naomi heard plenty of stops and starts, Steve struggling, searching while his wife Joni
called him “honey” and encouraged him. The task was so hard, and Steve, angry and upset, said
he would give up. Joni praised him, telling him this could be his signature (署名) piece.
Naomi managed to figure out 16 of Steve’s favorite and most personal songs. With Naomi’s
help, the Goodwin family found a sound engineer to record Naomi playing Steve’s songs. Joni
thought that would be the end. But it wasn’t.
In the months leading up to the 2016 Oregon Repertory Singers Christmas concert, Naomi
asked for Steve’s permission to adding his music to the playing list. He considered it an honor.
After the concert, Naomi said that Steve’s music was beautiful and professional. It needed
to be shared in public.
The family rented a former church in downtown Portland and scheduled a concert. By the
day of the show, more than 300 people had said they would attend.
By then, Steve was having a hard time remembering the names of some of his friends. He
knew he was now taking the path of his hard life. But he was brave enough to tell his family he
was at peace.
Steve arrived and sat in the front row, surrounded by his family. The lights faded, and then
Naomi took the stage. Her fingers. His heart.

Long time ago, people hadn’t learned how to make fire, let alone cook food. People ate raw

with torches. The days of eating raw meat had finally ended. When the night comes, people all
gather around the fire, and the wild animals dare not approach them easily.

eyes he tried hard to look into the darkness ahead.
Then, two hours before midnight, the miracle happened. A far-off light struck his eyes. It
wavered (摇曳) once or twice, moving quickly on the horizon, like a fisherman’s boat on the
waves.
His heart hammered (砰砰直跳). But he dared not cry out, “Land!”
“Your eyes are sharp, Alfredo,” he whispered to a young sailor. “Tell me what you see.”
Even as he spoke, the light disappeared.

“Ah, yes, yes! A light. Over there.”
“Quiet! Are you sure, Alfredo ”

the morning. The other two ships loomed (隐约出现) vaguely and in the east the line of the
horizon was clearly defined.
Then came a flash of flame (火焰). The long-awaited signal! Land in sight.

Through
all these ups and downs, my classmates and I became really close. We laughed together,
encouraged each other, and shared our fears and hopes. We became a team, working together
towards a common goal.
On the night of the musical, I stood behind the curtains waiting for my turn. I couldn’t
believe how far we had come. We had worked so hard and now we were ready to show everyone
what we could do. Then the curtains opened and we started performing in front of a full audience.
When we finished, thunderous applause filled the hall. I felt a sense of pride that I had never felt
before.
This experience taught me a lot. I learned how important it is to work together as a team
and to keep trying even when things are hard. I also learned that it’s good to try new things and
step out of my comfort zone.
Looking back, I’m really thankful for that opportunity and all the lessons it taught me. It

After a heavy rain, a spider tried hard to climb up the wall to fix its broken web. The wall
was wet, so the spider kept slipping and falling back down. But it didn’t stop trying.
A man saw the spider. He sighed (叹气) and thought, “My life is just like this spider’s. I
work hard, but I don’t get good results.” This made him feel very sad and he started to worry
about his future.

doesn’t it find a dry place to start climbing ” After that, he always tried to find the easiest way to
do things.
Soon, a third man passed by. He was inspired by the spider. He thought. “The spider never
abandons. I should be like that.” So, he decided to keep going no matter what problems he met.

Faced with
this challenge, Shan told her team, “We must find a way, no matter how difficult it is.” Working
around the clock, they finally improved the system, allowing it to handle over 1.4 billion daily
visits and doubling its daily ticket sales ability.
Shan said, “Technology should serve society and improve people’s lives.” To make travel
more convenient, Shan and her team always listen to passengers’ needs. They hope to improve
