Su Qingwu,a post-90s girl from Wenzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province, has built a pavilion(亭子)in her garden by hand. It's a copy of a pavilion in the Palace Museum.
As a photographer, Su often had chances to visit local handicraftsmen(手工艺人)and take photos when they were working. Slowly she became interested in traditional handicrafts and searched for information about them online. "It all began with a photo of a pavilion in the Palace Museum I saw on the Internet. I fell in love with the colours and structure of it. Why don't I build one at home " she said. Soon she began to bring the idea to life.
Building a pavilion without glue or nails(钉子) wasn't that easy for Su. She started to learn the woodworking skills by reading books and watching videos. She also searched every corner of the town for the things she needed. It seemed easy at first, but it was a different story when she was building the pavilion. She had trouble making a drawing of the pavilion at the beginning. She kept trying and found her own way, but the mortise-and-tenon joint was a big headache for her. In order to solve the problem, she visited the Palace Museum in person, found the pavilion in the photo, and studied the mortise-and-tenon joint carefully. Finally, her pavilion was completed.
It took Su 150 days to build her first pavilion. Later, she spent 200 days building a Tang-style pavilion. It is bigger and more difficult to build than the first one. She is now planning to create another copy of the pavilion in the Palace Museum in the near future. "These traditional handicrafts show the confidence in Chinese culture. I want to promote the Chinese traditional handicrafts through building more pavilions, so more people can see them one day. " Su said.

Have you ever heard of the Silk Road Do you know what an important role it plays in the whole world Did you visit any famous places along the road Although it's called the Silk Road,people bought and sold much more than silk. The Silk Road went through Asia, the Middle East,North Africa and Europe. It was 6, 500 km from Xi'an to Rome.
My dad is very interested in the Silk Road and he has told me many things about it. Last summer, my family got away for a holiday and went to some places on the road.
We started at Lanzhou and went on to Wuwei. Wuwei was a very important city on the Silk Road. It connected (连接) three main cities in the area. In ancient times, it was also a capital. Although it's now a modern city, you can get a feeling of history when you visit it. We saw lots of very old stone monuments(纪念碑)and people there were very proud of their city's long history.
The next stop was Jiayuguan. It's on the edge (边缘) of the desert, and was also an important place on the Silk Road. It was a busy city with a lot of people coming and going. Even today, it's a city that many business people travel through. An important part of the Great Wall was also built here.
After that, we went on to Yumenguan. I first found out about Yumenguan in the famous poem written by Wang Zhihuan. It was in the Gobi Desert and was the only connection between Central Asia and China. I wonder how people ever made it through the hot desert so long ago.
This trip wasn't just a scenic (观光的) journey. It helped me understand the history of the area and see how people from different places influenced (影响) each other in many ways.
