Mike was an exchange student from England. He was invited to dinner at his Chinese friend Joe's home. They noticed many differences in table manners.

The eating tools are also different. In China, chopsticks are mainly used, but in England, knives and forks are common.Seeing Mike having trouble with his chopsticks,Joe patiently taught him how to use them. What's more,he also started serving Mike food, which is a sign of being polite and friendly in China, but not a common practice in England.
During the dinner,Mike rested his elbows on the table while eating. But Joe told him it's not proper to do so in China. While in England,it might not be a strict rule and it's often left out. Also,in China,it's important not to eat too fast or too much at once, but in England, the way of eating can be different.Mike ate quite quickly, which made Joe notice the difference.
When they enjoyed their meal,Joe noticed Mike's confusion and explained Chinese table manners to him,and Mike in return, shared the usual practices in England.Soon,Mike got used to it,Joe also tried his best to make Mike feel at home.

Why is your dog so interested in your dirty socks, even to the point of stealing and chewing (咀嚼) on them?PetHonesty,a company for dog health, may give you a better understanding of why your four-legged friend can't help but give in to those dirty socks.
One of the main reasons is the familiar smell of their owners, which is comforting. In fact,PetHonesty says that to your dog, your dirty, smelly sock is like "a bottle filled with his favorite smell—you!" Dogs may chew on things that smell like their owners as a "comforting" way, especially if they are experiencing boredom or worries about separation.
In addition, chewing on socks is a natural behavior for dogs. The texture (质地) of socks can be comforting to chew on,especially for baby dogs who are teething. As PetHonesty explains, "To a dog, socks are soft. They are chewy and the texture of the socks feels comforting in their mouths." This chewing excites their brains and helps keep their teeth healthy.
Finally, dogs may see socks as valuable "resources(资源)" worth protecting or guarding.PetHonesty said that dogs see certain things as important "resources" that they believe are worth guarding with all their power. This could be especially true if the sock smells like their owner.
However, chewing socks can be harmful to dogs as they might eat them and become sick.To prevent it from happening,it's important to make sure they get enough exercise and care.Dog owners should pay attention to dogs' needs to help deal with this worrisome situation.
8.Why do dogs find chewing socks comforting, according to the text? ______
A. The texture feels good and reminds them of their owners.
B. Chewing socks makes them look stronger.
C. Socks help them clean their teeth.
9.Which of your socks will your dog like chewing most? ______
A. B. C.
10.What can dog owners do to stop dogs from chewing socks? ______
A. Give them more socks to play with.
B. Ensure them to get enough exercise and care.
C. Punish dogs immediately when they chew socks.
11.What is the right structure of the passage? ______
A. Comparison → Examples → Opinion

Some of the foods she fed me were home-grown.She believed that the sun is good for my health. So she often took me to the garden. The sun was shining and the birds were singing happily.I usually helped water the garden,or just chatted with her. Most of the time, she left me exploring.Sometimes she threw to me several newly-unearthed earthworms (蚯蚓),which would keep me excited for a whole day. When we were tired, she used to carry in one hand a big tomato, and held my hand with the other."Let's go to the kitchen and the big tomato will be your lunch," she said.
She went back to her home when I was in the fifth year at primary school. "What is my grandson going to eat?Maybe I should stay for another year," She repeated the same words almost every day before leaving, showing the deep worry about me.
