Early on Wednesday morning, a big rocket called Long March -2F Y19 took off from Jiuquan in Northwest China. It carried three astronauts on a trip to the China Space Station.
After about 10 minutes, the Shenzhou -19 spacecraft separated from the rocket and entered its designated orbit (轨道). This meant the launch was a success!
The China Space Station will welcome the new Shenzhou -19 crew, led by experienced astronaut Cai Xuze and newcomers Song Lingdong and female astronaut Wang Haoze, about 6.5 hours after takeoff.
Commander (指令长) Cai is going back to space just 22 months after his last trip, which is a record for the shortest time between missions in the history of Chinese astronauts. Song and Wang, both born in 1990, are on their first space mission. Wang is also China’s first female spaceflight engineer.
This is the fourth time that astronauts have flown to the space station to work and do experiments, and it’s the 33rd mission in China’s manned space program. The main tasks include switching crews with the Shenzhou -18 astronauts, staying on the station for six months, doing space experiments, going outside the spacecraft and managing cargo (货物) and so on.
After launch, Shenzhou -19 will connect to the Tianhe module of the space station about 6.5 hours later. During their stay, they will get supplies from the Tianzhou -8 cargo spacecraft and be visited by the Shenzhou -20 crew. They will come back to Earth in late April or early May.
The Shenzhou-18 crew will return to Earth on November 4 after the new crew arrives.

You’ve been learning words since you were a tiny baby. At first, you learned them only by hearing other people talk. Now that you’re a reader, you have another way to learn words. What should you do when you come to a word and you think you don’t know what it means 1 .
Say it
First, sound it out. Then say it to yourself. 2 . Sometimes you know a word in your head but you don’t know what it looks like in print. So if you match up what you know and what you read—you have the word!
Use context
If this doesn’t work, take the next step: look at the context—the other words and sentences around it. Read this sentence: When it rained, the dog looked for shelter in the doorway. 3 . Rain and in the doorway might give you helpful information.
4
If the context doesn’t help, look at the parts of the word. Does it have any parts you know These can help you understand what it means. If you don’t know the meaning of “miner”, try looking at parts of the word. You might know that a mine is a place underground where people get coal and other valuable things. A lot of times, -er at the end of a word means “a person who does something”. So a miner might be someone who works in a mine.
Look it up
If the three steps above don’t work, you can look it up. 5 —either a book or online.
Nobody knows the meaning of every word, but good readers know how to understand words they don’t know.
A.Look at the words
B.Use word parts
C.You can find the word in a dictionary
D.It might sound like a word you know
E.Following some easy steps can help you
F.If the word shelter doesn’t look familiar, look at the words around it

37.A designer is a person who has ideas. But that’s not all. A designer plans how to make those ideas happen. A set of steps should be followed.
Step One is defining (界定) a problem or need. A theater puts on a show. Actors wearing costumes act on a lighted stage. Set designers design the stage sets. Lighting designers decide what lights to use. Costume designers choose clothes for the actors to wear. Together they form the design team. They share the same need, which is making the show happen.
Step Two is defining a successful result. The desired result is different for different kinds of designers. A fashion designer designs clothing styles. Because stores need people to keep buying, fashion designers need to design clothes that people will buy. The clothes should be different from older clothes.
Step Three is to describe the situation as it is now. A landscape designer plans outdoor areas. The designer looks carefully at the piece of land. Is it flat or hilly What kind of soil does it have What plants grow well in that soil How do people want to use this land The designer uses all the information in planning.
Step Four is to understand the user. The designer needs to know who will use the product. Software designers write computer programs. They think about the user sitting in front of the screen.
Step Five is to make a detailed plan. Architects design buildings. They plan the size and shape of each room, and decide what materials to use. All the details are on a drawing called a blueprint. The builders will follow this blueprint. The building will be exactly like the plan.
Last but not least, designers should work with other people to turn the design into the real thing. Fashion designers need people to sew the clothes. Landscape designers need workers to plant the plants.
Designers are artists, scientists, and inventors. They work in the present, but they are planners for the future.

38.September is a big month for students in China since the new term begins from now on. In ancient China, the school entrance ceremony (入学典礼) was one of the most important ceremonies.
Children began school at the ages of 4—7 in ancient China. Since there was no certain time to begin a new term at that time, the most important thing for parents was to choose a lucky day for their children to enter school. Next, parents would prepare some school things for their children, including desks, chairs and four treasures of the study.
In ancient times, teachers were usually very knowledgeable local persons. Parents would prepare many gifts, and then write a letter of invitation to ask a knowledgeable man to be their children’s teacher.
On the day their children entered school, parents would take them to take part in the First Writing Ceremony. Before that, children would kowtow (叩头) to the statue of Confucius (孔子像) 9 times and then to their teacher 3 times to show their deep respect. During the ceremony, the teacher would put a red point on the students’ forehead (前额) as it meant opening the wisdom eye. Children would also ring a certain bell to start a new term. After that, they could finally sit down in their seats and begin to study. The First Writing Ceremony was a very important ceremony for every student.
Every day, students would arrive at school earlier than their teacher, and kowtow to the statue of Confucius, and then go back to the seats. Usually the teacher would give every student a new name, which was used for future Imperial Examination (科举考试).
Today, some schools are starting to hold an entrance ceremony like they did in ancient times. Students put on traditional costumes and bow to the statue of Confucius and their teachers. This means that from this moment, they take a step in the lifelong journey of learning.
