As a tennis fan, I’d like to introduce my role model, Zheng Qinwen, a rising star in the tennis world. Her story
of perseverance and courage has deeply inspired me.
Zheng Qinwen was born on October 8, 2002, in Shiyan, Hubei ing from a family of athletes,
she developed a strong passion for sports early on. She first picked up a tennis racket in 2010. Like many Chinese
tennis fans, she was inspired by Li Na’s historic French Open victory in 2011, which planted a championship
dream in her heart. After years of hard work, she turned professional in 2019. Her efforts paid off when she won
the women’s singles gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, making her a national hero.
What makes Zheng my role model is not only her achievements but also her qualities. She never gives up,
even when facing injuries or setbacks. It was determination and diligence that brought her success. She once said
in an interview, "Every failure teaches me how to improve." This mindset encourages me to stay positive when I
meet challenges in my studies or life. Her story shows that role models can light up our path. Her devotion and
fighting spirit on the court influenced me so deeply that I am determined to work harder to make my dream a
reality.
听力材料:
Text1:M: Good morning! Can I help you
W: Oh, yes. I left a bag when I was shopping. It’s brown leather and quite old and it’s got a pocket on the front.
M: All right. I’ll look at my list.
Text2:M: Sid, hi, so sorry I can’t meet you for dinner at six thirty.
W: Oh, okay, what time will you get here
M: By seven o’clock at the latest I think. There was a car crash ahead of me just ten minutes ago.
Text3:M: Did you enjoy your holiday in Australia, Annie
W: Yes, but it was wet most of the time.
M: Really Isn’t it always sunny and hot in Australia
W: Not when I was there.
Text4:W: Do you know where our food is We’ve been here for almost half an hour.
M: I’m sorry. It must be ready now. I’ll go and check.
Text5:M: Your piano teacher said you wanted to quit the lessons. You know you don’t have to worry about the
money.
W: No, dad, it’s just that I’ve realized my true interest lies in solving difficult math problems. Music is just not
my thing.
Text6:W: The department store has reduced all its prices by forty percent during the sale. Don’t you think it’s time
to replace our sofa We’ve had it for a long time.
M: Do you think so I think it’s comfortable enough. What we really need is a proper lamp to go on the table next
to the sofa. It’s impossible to sit and read there at the moment.
W: Let’s move one of the lamps down from the bedroom then. The blue one would look good on that table.
M: You’re right.
Text7:M: I made us a pizza for to night’s dinner. I baked apple pie, made the tomato sauce from our tomatoes in
the backyard and I bought the cheese from a local farm about five miles away.
W: Yum! I can’t wait to eat it. You’ve been cooking a lot lately. Why the change
M: I’ve gotten really into watching cooking shows. I’ve been interested in cooking for a long time, but I just
decided to give it a try recently.
W: I’m an OK cook, but I don’t enjoy it very much. It takes a lot of patience which I don’t have.
Text8:W: Sorry, Peter, I can’t go on a trip with you this weekend. It’s my mother’s birthday. She has made plans
with our entire family for the weekend.
M: No worries, Cindy. I just finished a big work project, so I thought I’d take a short trip. That sounds fun though.
What will you and your family do
,
W: We’ll go around the city. We have so much fun together from playing games to rid bicycles around town. That
my absolute favorite activity is cooking food with my grandmother. We always prepare large lunches for the
family.
M: That sounds like such a fun weekend.
W: Definitely. Where will you go
M: Either to the beach or to the mountains. My brother’s wife is away, so I’ll travel and spend the weekend with
him, but he is such a beach person, so we’re very likely to spend our days surfing and swimming in the sea.
W: Sounds lovely.
Text9:W: Henry, I heard you saved your little brother’s life last night. Could you tell me what exactly happened
,
M: Yes Mrs. Brown. I was in my bedroom, playing the guitar with my friend Jason and my three year old brother
Mike when my brother put a piece of a toy in his mouth.
W: When did you notice it
M: I didn’t notice until I found he was fighting for breath.
W: What did you do
M: I immediately asked Jason to find my father, who was somewhere near the house, but then I noticed Mike was
turning purple.
W: You must have been very worried.
M: Certainly, but I knew what I should do. Luckily I’d learned how to perform first aid skills. Finally I helped
might cough up that little thing.
W: You’re really great. Without you, your brother might have been in great danger.
M: Yes, when my father finally came, Mike was crying, but he was totally fine.
W: Good. Can you share your story a bit later in class today
M: Certainly, Mrs. Brown.
Text10:W:Duolingo is a free language-learning website and app. It offers ad-free courses for those who want to
learn a new language. As of 2016, Duolingo has fifty-nine different language courses for twenty-three languages.
Over 120million people are registered with the program. Duolingo was created in 2011 by Professor Luis von
Ahn and his graduate student Sever in Hacker, who was born in Switzerland. Prof. Luis von Ahn was born in
Guatemala, and he was upset by how expensive it was for people in his town to learn English. He wanted to create
a program that offered free education to anyone in the world. Because most of the services are available free of
charge, Duolingo originally used a special business model to make money. Members of the public were able to
translate content and vote on correct translations. The content came from large websites such as Buzz Feed and
CNN. com, which paid Duolingo to translate their web pages. Many private investors have given money to the
company, including actor Ashton Kutcher’s firm. Duolingo has also been used in public schools in Costa Rica
and Guatemala.

Peter Kline has run over 100 marathons. But what makes him so extraordinary is that he has finished 45 of those marathons while pushing young people with disabilities in front of him. Kline wants them to know the joy of running, too.
Kline started hitting the road when he was in his early fifties after running a 10K and then he began running marathons. His friend Scott Patrick suffered from a brain cancer, and asked Kine to run to raise money for cancer research. Kline helped Patrick and other volunteers raise about $60,000.
Being able to help others through his beloved sport made an impression. Kline knew of a father and a son who would run races together—the father pushing his son with disabilities as he completed the course. But, he wondered, “What about kids who don’t have a dad to do that ”
After being connected to a woman with two daughters who have cerebral palsy(脑瘫), he decided to run the Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon in 2024 with one of the girls. The little girl loved it, and Kline said his mission to share his love of the sports just started rolling.
He has been calling the mission “Marathons with Meaning”. Kline has a business card that says “Marathons with Meaning” and wherever he sees young people with disabilities, he just goes up to the parents and says, “If your kid ever wants to run a marathon, let me know.”
Kline said he paid for everything having to do with the race himself out of his own pocket. “It feels better that way of giving back to society.” The young people he pushes have ranged in ages from 8 to 32 and have many types of disabilities. “They love it,” Kline said. “They absolutely love the sounds, the noises, the feelings. The other runners are always very kind. They give them high-fives.”
24. What causes people to notice Peter Kline
A. He is a disabled marathon runner.
B. He has run more than 100 marathons.
C. He has helped disabled kids to run marathons.
D. He has accompanied a father and his child to finish a course.
25. How did Kline help others through running for the first time
A. By sharing his love of sports with others.
B. By helping raise money for cancer research.
C. By advocating his project “Marathons with Meaning”.
D. By assisting a child without father to run in a marathon.
26. What do we know about “Marathons with Meaning”
A. It is funded by people interested in marathon.
B. Kline promotes it every time he has a chance.
C. It only welcomes disabled children to participate.
D. Kline wishes people to contribute to society through it.
27. Which of the following can best describe Peter Kine
A. Generous and caring. B. Frank and reliable.
C. Persevering and sensitive. D. Energetic and knowledgeable.
C
Go to any movie theater or sports venue, and it’s obvious there’s an invisible connection that forms from laughing, crying, and simply feeling while being close to others." Researches have long studied this feeling of togetherness, but some aspects of the phenomenon remained unclear. Now, a new study is offering insight.
Writing in the journal Royal Society Open Science, Victor Chung of the cole Normale Supérieure in France and his team reported how they examined the matter by inviting strangers to watch videos together in the same sex pairs.
Pairs of strangers watched three types of videos together: positive, negative, and neutral with a curtain between them that was either open or closed. At the start of the experiment the researchers asked each participant whether they’d like to meet the other member of their pair. After watching each video, participants reported their emotions and feelings of connection, and after seeing all three videos they were asked once again about their feelings towards the other participant.
The results showed the emotional films produced stronger responses than the neutral film. Critically, the team said participants’ feelings of connection within the pairs was strengthened when they experienced more intense emotions. However, this was only the case when participants watched the films with the curtain between them open. The researchers said that whether or not the pairs could see each other had no impact on how positively or negatively they felt about the films.
“We found that silently watching emotional films together with another individual is associated with social bonding, even when this person is a stranger and without any verbal (口头的) communication,” said Chung, the study author.
The team added that the findings may help explain why people seek out group activities that produce strong emotions, “even participating in some activities that may cause negative emotions.” In other words, because emotion bonds us, and humans have a basic desire to belong, we’re willing to try things that most people would probably avoid.
28. What does “the phenomenon” in paragraph 1 refer to
A. Shared emotions bond people.
B. Physical touch helps address stress.
C. A chance encounter leads to a friendship.
D. Entertainment is a significant part of human life.
29. How did the researchers get their findings
A. By analyzing participants’ emotions.
B. By comparing participants’ self-reports.
C. By recording participants’ video responses.
D. By encouraging participants’ desire for interaction.
30. The study found that strong bonds were indeed created between pairs only when ______.
A. they were familiar with each other
B. they watched neutral films together
C. they reported their feelings to each other
D. they could see each other while watching the films
31. What is the last paragraph about
A. An explanation of the findings. B. Possible significance of the findings.
C. Supporting evidence for the findings. D. The basic logic behind the findings.
D
Emergency Mask Pod (面罩舱) is a plastic, 3D-printed and football-shaped case that contains a mask that protects the lungs of someone trapped in a fire until they were rescued. Alexis got the idea for the Emergency Mask Pod after hearing that a mother had thrown her baby out of the second floor window of their smoke-filled apartment during a fire in the building. The family was stuck in their apartment by the smoke.
Alexis wondered whether there was a way for people waiting outside, such as neighbors and first responders, to deliver smoke masks to people stuck in the second floors of burning buildings. Her research showed that there was no such delivery system, so Alexis set about to invent one.
First, she found a small, lightweight smoke mask. The next step was to develop a way to launch or throw the mask up into an open second-story window. Alexis built several different pods, which were tested by local firefighters. Each pod was thrown into a second story window more than 290 times by a total of 37 firefighters. The football-shaped pod, which Alexis printed on her MakerBot 3D printer, was the clear winner, with an accuracy rate of over 70 percent.
The firefighters testing the Emergency Mask Pod told her that it is needed by firefighters arriving at the scene of a fire. They told Alexis that when they find people stuck inside, they wish they could give them some form of relief so they can breathe safely while firefighters try to reach them. A smoke delivery system could be used to provide that relief.
The Emergency Mask Pod requires no special equipment, training, or permits; people at the scene of a fire could help fire victims (受害者) trapped inside smoky rooms without hesitation. EMTs, police officers, and firefighters could keep the mask and EM Pod in their vehicles and apartment complexes could store them in approachable places like community centers. The mask could easily be retrieved by victims and put on, giving them precious time for firefighters to rescue them and potentially saving hundreds or thousands of lives.
32. Why is the Emergency Mask Pod invented
A. To improve the design of smoke masks.
B. To provide a way to deliver smoke masks.
C. To help firefighters practice throwing skills.
D. To protect first responders’ eyes from smoke.
33. How did Alexis test the effectiveness of different pods
A. By burning them in the local fire departments.
B. By studying different materials for making pods.
C. By doing a survey of people trapped in a fire before.
D. By having firefighters throw them into windows many times.
34. Which word is closest in meaning to “retrieved” in the last paragraph
A. Returned. B. Obtained. C. Relieved. D. Shot.
35. Which of the following can be the best title for the text
A. Surviving the Flame: New Rescue Skills
B. Smoke and Masks: The Future of Fire Safety
C. A Lifeline through the Smoke: The Mask Pod
D. Breaking through Barriers: Firefighters’ Creations
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。
People who are in the same age group are called peers. When they influence each other, or try to get other people in this age group to do something, it’s called peer pressure. It’s something everyone has to deal with — even adults. 36
Peers can have a positive influence on each other. For example, if you are involved with a group of people that are ambitious and are working to succeed, you might feel pressured to follow suit to avoid feeling excluded (被排除) from the group. 37
38 Many young people spend large amounts of time in fixed groups regardless of their opinion of those groups. They may together experiment with things like cigarettes, alcohol or drugs because they lack the maturity to handle pressure from “friends”. The idea that “everyone is doing it” may influence them to leave their common sense behind.
You’ve probably had a parent or teacher to advise you to “choose your friends wisely”. 39 If you choose friends who don’t use drugs, cut class, smoke cigarettes, or lie to their parents, then you probably won’t do these things either, even if other kids do. It’s great to have friends who behave well with values that are similar to yours.
Even if you’re faced with negative peer pressure while you’re alone, you should stand firm, though it is tough to be the only one who says “no” to negative peer pressure. 40 Inner strength and self-confidence can be a help in this situation. And paying attention to your own beliefs about what is right and wrong can help you know the right thing to do.
A.You can get help from yourself.
B.How does peer pressure affect us
C.You are to handle peer pressure wisely.
D.Let’s talk about the causes of peer pressure.
E.Peer pressure is a big reason why they say this.
F.Sometimes peers influence each other in negative ways.
G.Therefore, you would be pressured into improving yourself.

On a bright and sunny day, Ariel Rojas began her exciting adventure of hiking and bird-watching at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge in Queens, New York. Little did she know that she would run into something completely unusual the day.
Just a mile into her walk, her eyes were drawn to a sight near the water’s edge. There lay a magnificent female mute swan(疣鼻天鹅). Rojas, who has experience working at the Wild Bird Fund recovery center in Manhattan, was well aware that mute swans could be quite aggressive. However, this particular swan was different. It remained still and made no move or attempt to attack as she got closer. It was clear to her that there was something wrong with the swan and that it was in need of medical help.
Rojas took immediate action. She covered the swan’s head with her jacket, hoping to keep it calm. Then, with extreme care, she picked the heavy bird up, holding it softly in her arms. The next challenge was discouraging. The recovery center was across the East River, on the other side of town. She was unable to carry such a huge swan out of here on her own. The thought alone almost made her anxious.
Just when hope seemed to grow weaker, a cyclist appeared at the end of the road and got nearer and nearer. There on the back seat of his bike was fixed a big-sized backpack. Rojas made two steps forward with efforts, “Help!” Confusedly, the man stopped in front of her. He asked, “what’s wrong with you ” Rojas made a brief explanation as soon as she could, while the man listened carefully, his eyes concentrated on the swan with concern.
