Letter
Dear humans,
I am an Indian rhino. I live in some parts of Asia. I eat grass and small plants near my home. I am writing to ask for your help to protect the rhinos in the wild.
Many years ago, thousands of us lived happily in Asia. We had enough special plants to eat near our homes. But things changed when farmers started using those plants to feed their own animals. The plants became fewer and fewer. What's worse, people hunted us for our horns. They thought our horns could be used to make some things. As a result, our number started to drop quickly. By 1975, there were only a few of us left in the wild.
Thankfully, the governments of India and Nepal noticed our problem and took action. They made laws to protect us and stopped people from hunting us for our horns. Because of their efforts, the number of us has increased. In 2022, there were over 4,000 Indian rhinos in the wild.
But we still need your help. Please stop using our horns for any reason. Our horns are important for us to live healthy lives and protect ourselves. Without them, we can't survive well. Please help us, or there may be none of us left in the future.
Thank you for reading my letter.
Yours,
Lila, an Indian rhino
