Have you ever thought about how rubbish can be put to good use Have you heard of a famous rubbish hotel in Rome, Italy This is the first hotel in the world that is largely made from rubbish. This hotel was part of an environmental project called Save the Beach. The project aimed to teach people about the importance of keeping beaches clean.
The hotel was created by German artist HA Schult with 12 tons of rubbish collected on European beaches. The idea came from Corona Beer, a company that cares about the environment. They wanted to show how much waste humans leave behind. The hotel was open for only four days in early June, the same time as World Environment Day. Surprisingly, all the rooms were fully booked!
Next to the hotel, there was a sign with a clear message—This will be the future of our holidays if we do nothing to protect our beaches. The hotel served as a warning. It reminded people that pollution harms the sea and coastlines. If we continue to throw rubbish carelessly, our beautiful beaches might disappear, and our vacations could become unpleasant.
The project hopes to encourage people to take action. Cleaning beaches and reducing waste are small steps everyone can take. The rubbish hotel in Rome is just the beginning. The team plans to create more creative projects to protect nature.
Let’s learn from this story. Protecting the environment is not just for adults—students like you can help too. Always remember: a cleaner world starts with us!

Chinese traditional tea art has a long history of more than 1,000 years. There are many careful and old-fashioned steps. First, people choose tea leaves very carefully. Then, they control the water temperature exactly. Finally, they pour the tea in a beautiful way. Each step shows great skill. But modern life is fast, especially for young people who are always busy. This makes it hard to do traditional tea-making. In recent years, an interesting drink is becoming more popular among Chinese young people.
To make this special drink, first, cut a medium - sized pear into four parts. Then, cut each part into about 8-10 small pieces. Put these pieces, 500 milliliters (毫升) of water, and some tea leaves (usually green or oolong tea) in a pot. Then, cook it over a low heat for about 15 minutes. Slowly boiling makes the natural sweet taste of the pear go into the tea, making a nice mix of smell.
More and more young people like pear tea, and numbers show this. In a recent big survey of 200 teenagers aged 13 to 18 in a busy city, 150 of them said they had tried pear tea at least once. Also, 80% of them said it was a great way to enjoy traditional tea in a way that’s easier and more convenient.
Pear tea not only keeps the deep meaning of traditional tea art but also fits well with the active lifestyle of young people. It’s a great example of how old traditions can be changed to match modern ideas. This helps young people like and understand their heritage (传统) better.
31. What can we know from Paragraph 1
A. Traditional tea-making requires patience and skill.
B. Young people dislike the taste of traditional tea.
C. Modern tea art is faster than pear tea.
32. How much water is needed to make pear tea
A. 3 hundred milliliters. B. 5 hundred milliliters. C. 8 hundred milliliters.
33. What is the main advantage of pear tea
A. It uses expensive tea leaves.
B. It requires no cooking time.
C. It combines tradition with convenience.
34. How does the writer develop his idea in Paragraph 3
A. By comparing different drinks. B. By using numbers. C. By telling stories.
35. What’s the best title for the passage
A. The History of Chinese Tea Art
B. How to Cook Sweet Drinks Quickly
C. Pear Tea: A Bridge Between Tradition and Modern Life

On December 19, 2024 in Linxia, Gansu, at about 1:00 p. m., four middle school students—Ma Dongla, Wang Wubin, Ma Bin and Gao Yifan were taking Bus No.14 to school. When the bus got near Longwangmiao Station, something unexpected happened. The driver suddenly fell forward, his eyes closed and his foot left the brake (刹车) onto the gas pedal (油门踏板). The bus turned sharply into the wrong way, going straight towards the cars coming from the opposite direction.
Without thinking twice, Ma Dongla, who was sitting right behind the driver, jumped into action. He rushed to the driver, pushed his foot away from the gas pedal, and pressed the brakes as hard as he could. The bus stopped immediately, but it was still in the way. “Turn the wheel!” he shouted. Right away, Ma Bin and Gao Yifan held the wheel, carefully moving the bus back to the right road. At the same time, Wang Wubin tapped the driver’s shoulders, trying to keep him awake.
The four students worked together. They turned on the warning lights and pulled the handbrake. Finally, the bus stopped safely by the roadside. Because of their quick thinking, bravery and teamwork, all 18 passengers were saved. Doctors came soon to check the driver, and later they found that the driver had a sudden health problem.
This event shows why it’s important to stay calm when something bad happens. The students’ bravery and working together not only saved lives but also encouraged others. Wonderful time in 15-minute break
The 15-minute break between classes is important for students. There are a lot of advantages of it. First, longer breaks help students relax. After studying for a long time, we feel tired. A 15-minute break gives us time to play sports or take a walk. This helps reduce stress and makes us more energetic for the next class. Second, breaks are also chances to communicate with classmates. We can talk about interesting things, share stories, and make new friends. A longer break makes it possible to have deeper conversations. What’s more, longer breaks encourage us to take part in outdoor activities. We often go to the playground to play basketball, or simply run around. These activities help improve our health and make our school life more colorful. In my opinion, the 15-minute break has made my life happier and more meaningful.
