Where does the waste go People usually burn(燃烧)or bury(埋葬)it. On the other hand, we receive
waste from some developed countries. We get useful materials from it. What about the useless part

Waste pollutes the environment, harms(伤害)people’s health and causes animals to die. It also

China is getting really serious about waste now.
We are taking less waste from developed countries. From January 2018, China started to stop 24
kinds of waste coming into our country. And more laws and rules about dealing with waste have been
made. Anyone who breaks the law will be punished(惩罚).
China also tries to put waste into good use. One example is the waste electricity factories. They
burn waste to make electricity in a green way. No harmful gases or water will get into the environment.
The Chinese government is encouraging people to do waste sorting(分类). Cities like Shanghai,
Chongqing and Beijing have their own sorting systems. More will join them soon. As President Xi
Jinping said during a visit to Shanghai, waste sorting is a new fashion. More and more people are

The first time I ever really noticed a disabled person, I was studying in the third grade. I saw some
disabled people before, but I never really knew or cared about what those persons go through.
When a new student arrived in my third grade class, I thought it would just be a common student,
but this student was different. His name was Derek and he had autism(孤独症). He sometimes had
random outbursts (随意的发作) during class and we would stand there, doing nothing because we didn’
t know why he was doing that. When he sat down at desk, we would try to get away from him. After
class, we would play jokes on each other, imitating (模仿) Derek, and laughing about it.
Then one day, Derek’s mom came to our class and talked with us. She told us that Derek wasn’t
just having random outbursts—he was trying to communicate. Then she chose a volunteer and filled
that person’s mouth with soft sweets. When we found the volunteer had great trouble in trying to speak,
the mother explained that was what Derek was going through every day. We all understood her meaning.
After this talk, no one tried to make fun of Derek or run away from him. We accepted his outbursts
in class and he became one of our friends. Having a class with Derek has taught me to have an open

mind to those who are different from us. My experience in having an autistic classmate has provided me
with a good lesson.
Now whenever I meet a family with a child who’s behaving differently, I always remember what I have
learned in my third grade class and go up to him or her.

Giving gifts is a good way of showing how much you care about someone, especially during the
festivals. (36) Luckily, picking the right gift can be much easier if you keep the following
three tips in mind.
Know the person s interests.
One of the worst things you can do is to give someone something he/she hates. It can hurt your
friendship, because the other person may think you don t care about him/her at all. (37)
So you can make a list of what your friends like. Then try to find gifts that meet those interests. If
they love music, you can give them CDs of their favourite singers .
(38)
Gifts don t have to be flashy (华而不实的) things. They can be something that is helpful in your
friends daily life. So if you are looking for the right gift, you should find out what they need most.
(39) Instead, listen carefully when they talk. For example, a friend may often say that he has
no time to replace his broken schoolbag. Then you can surprise him with a new one.
Think about giving an experience.
Gifts don t have to be physical things. (40) Studies have shown that a person remembers an
experience more than physical things. If your friends are pop fans, a concert of their favourite pop stars
must be a surprise and an experience that they will never forget.
A. Give them something they really want.
B. Choose to celebrate with a hand-made gift.
C. But sometimes it can be difficult to find a perfect gift.
D. That s why you should learn about his/her interests first.
E. They can be special experiences that the person did not expect.
F. Since gifts should be a surprise, don t ask the people what they need.

五、任务型阅读(根据短文的内容回答问题,本题共 5 小题;每小题 2 分,满分 10 分)
Nowadays, people usually shake hands when they meet each other. Do the Chinese always greet
others like this In fact, handshaking was introduced to our country around 100 years ago.
There were several kinds of greetings in ancient (古代的) China. Among them the fist and palm
salute (拱手礼) was a quite common (常见的) one, with a history of about 3,000years. It was first used
by people in the Western Zhou Dynasty. In ancient times, if people met a stranger, their hands were
always ready to hold something used for fighting. Holding out both hands could make people feel
relaxed.
When people meet, men usually use their left hand to hold the right one. It’s believed that people
considered (认为) the left as the important side for men in Chinese history. While for women, the
important side is the right. So when they give the fist and palm salute, they should put their right hand
on the top. When someone presents the fist and palm salute to you, you are supposed to do it back as
well.
In many wuxia or kungfu TV series and movies, people greet each other with the hold fist salute, or
baoquan in Chinese. The gesture (手势) is that the right hand is made a fist, while the left hand is to
cover the right fist. It’s similar to the fist and palm salute, but they are different. Baoquan is widely used
among kungfu masters and students. So, don’t make a mistake. (每个小题答案不超过 6 个单词)。
