Most teenagers spend their free time playing video games or surfing the Internet,but William Gadoury, a 15-year-old from Canada,had a very different interest.Back in 2016,he discovered a lost Mayan city in Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula.
William has been fascinated by the Maya civilization(文明)since he was a child,especially after learning about the Mayan calendar predicting the end of the world in 2012.His hobby finally turned into serious research.Using an ancient Mayan book,Madrid Codex, he studied Mayan star maps and compared them with Google Earth images(图像)of the Yucatan Peninsula.He found that 117 Mayan cities matched up with the stars in 22 constellations(星座).
