When people think about movies, they often discuss what they see. Yet what they hear is equally important. The voices behind the characters help to breathe life into them. Lyu Yanting, 37, the voice actress of young Ne Zha in Ne Zha 2, uses her voice to describe a great character who fights against fate (命运).
“Dubbing (配音) is much like acting,” Lyu explained. Voice actors will get the script before they start. After reading it, they will have their own understanding of the story and character. During dubbing, she needs to show the character’s feelings. Also, she has to match her voice perfectly with the animation’s (动画) scenes. “The director guides us,” she added. “By explaining the scenes, they help us give our best performance.”
Lyu believes it is very important to keep growing as a voice actor. “We need to deepen our understanding, gain life experience and open our eyes. With these things and our professional (专业的) skills, we can successfully act out different roles.”
Lyu is thankful for being part of this great project. She showed her years of training, but she also believes that landing such roles required luck. “You can’t depend on just one perfect role throughout your whole career,” she added. “As a voice actor, you have to get used to different types of roles.”
For young people who want to enter the voice acting industry, Lyu offered her advice: If you love it, go all in. The future’s uncertain, but you can shine today.
24. What is the main reason for Lyu Yanting’s success as a voice actor

B. Her practice of reading the scripts before dubbing.

D. Her patience with the directors’ explaining the scenes.
25. What advice does Lyu give to young people who want to enter the voice acting industry
A. Get life experience first. B. Watch more animation movies.
C. Love it and give 100% effort. D. Try other jobs before luck comes.

Have you ever unlocked a shared bike Have you ever ordered a meal online Have you ever enjoyed watching the short-form videos on the Internet Well, if no one had invented the cell phone. none of these would have been possible.
Luckily, someone did invent the cell phone. That person is Martin Cooper, and he did that 51 years ago, in 1973.
Cooper used to work for Motorola. In the 1970s, the company was competing with AT&-T, a larger company, to make a cell phone system. Cooper didn’t think Motorola’s product was good enough, He didn’t like AT&T’s idea of a car phone, either. The man had a new idea. He wanted to make it possible for people to talk on their phones anywhere.
It took Cooper and his team 90 days to design the world’s first cell phone. The product was called Dyna TAC. People could talk on it for 25 minutes before its battery (电池) died. The phone’s short battery life wasn’t a big problem, Cooper once joked. Why Well, the phone was too heavy (1,100 grams) to hold in hand for more than 25 minutes!
On 3 April, 1973. Cooper made the world’s first public cell phone call. He called Joel Engel, an AT&.T manager. Cooper told Engel, “I’m calling you on a cell phone. It’s a real, hand held cell phone.” On the other end of the line, there was only silence.
Cell phones have changed a lot since that first call. They’re much smaller and can do many more things. Cooper, now 96, is surprised at the progress.
But the man has also kept thinking about life in the future. “Keep learning all your life,” he says, “or you’ll lose the ability to learn-that would be terrible!”
27. Why does the writer raise three questions in the first paragraph
A. To list the usage of cell phones.
B. To show the importance of cell phones.
C. To do a survey about what people use their cell phones for.
D. To do a survey about whether people can use their cell phones in a proper way.
28. What was the big problem that Cooper needed to solve according to his joke in Paragraph 4
A. The weight of the cell phone.
B. The usages of the cell phone.
C. The battery life of the cell phone.
D The appearance design of the cell phone.
29. Why did Engel keep silent when Cooper called him by using the cell phone
A. Because Engel couldn’t hear clearly on the line.
B. Because Cooper didn’t make the cell phone better.
C. Because Engel was busy designing his cell phone.
D. Because Cooper invented the cell phone before AT&.T could.
30. Which can be the best title for the passage
A. Keep Learning All Your Life
B. Rapid Development of the Cell Phone
C. The Father of the Cell Phone
D. The Competition Between Cooper and Engel

Many Westerners think that everyone in China knows how to do kung fu. This is, of course, a silly belief. But it is true that kung fu is a big part of Chinese culture.
Like most people from the West, I was first introduced to kung fu through Hong Kong action films. Some Chinese kung fu stars like Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan made kung fu popular in the Western world. The cool and impressive performances they gave in films like Rumble In The Bronx and Enter The Dragon made them household names in the US and elsewhere.
However, my own personal interest in kung fu was actually encouraged by a hip-hop group. Wu-Tang Clan, founded in the early 1990s in New York City, is one of the most famous hip-hop groups in history.
In their songs, they sometimes mention philosophical concepts (哲学理念) that come from wudang quan—the style of Chinese martial arts from which they take their name—and the Shaolin Monastery. I was just a teenager when I first started listening to Wu-Tang Clan—little did I know that I would actually end up living in China later in my life!
I myself do not practice kung fu. However, the concepts behind it are quite interesting to me. There is a Bruce Lee quote that I often think of when I’m struggling with challenges in life. “Be formless, shapeless, like water,” he once said. By this, he meant that you should be ready to change your attitudes (态度) or beliefs (信念) when you face difficulties. I think this is a good way to deal with life.

Dear classmates,
The summer holiday is coming soon! As middle school students, I think we can do something to make Nanjing more civilized.
First of all, we should pay attention to our manners. Obey the traffic rules when we cross the road. In public places, don’t make noise and be polite to others. Secondly, show love to people in need. We can donate money to charities and be volunteers at nursing homes.
For environmental protection, we can save energy by turning off lights when leaving rooms and use less plastic bags to reduce pollution.
During the summer vacation, I plan to finish my homework on time, read some good books to gain knowledge and travel to different places to broaden my horizons.
Let’s try our best to become civilized students. Wish you all have a happy and meaningful summer holiday!
