“I’ll be there in a few minutes. I’m playing a game with a friend, a guy named Snoopy.” My 15-year-old son shouted from his room. “Oh, what is Snoopy’s real name ” I asked. “I have no idea,” he said. “Where is he from ” I continued. He responded, “I think somewhere in Canada. Oh, wait, it doesn’t even matter because Snoopy just left the game and he has been replaced with a robot.”
“Your friend is replaced by a robot ” “It doesn’t matter, Dad. It happens all the time! The game continues.” My son doesn’t mind playing with a person or a robot, which is typical of gamers these days. I wonder whether the face-to-face experience of friendship that I grew up with will be lost by our children.
Aristotle, the great Greek thinker and educator, has pointed out that shallow friendship is easily formed but also easily abandoned because such bonds(纽带) are weak and uncertain. Deep friendship, by contrast, is when you care for your friend for his sake, not for any benefit you can get. This is selfless friendship. You can have only a couple of these friends because they require lots of time and effort. You must make sacrifices(牺牲) for each other.
Presence in friendship requires “being with” and “doing for” . Perhaps the most typical feature of deep friendship is “doing for”, as my friend has my back in trouble or brings me soup when I’m sick. Only strong bonds have the power to motivate real sacrifices. But it is unclear why online “friends” would bother to do the hard work of friendship. When I asked my students whether they had people in their lives who would bring them soup when they were sick, they laughed at my Stone Age question and said they'd just order soup online.
Digital life fills and absorbs waking life time so that people do not join in example case of friendship, like sports, collective arts, free range childhoods, etc. In this way, digital life produces false friendships.
24. How does the author lead in the topic of the text
A. By introducing a game. B. By quoting mottos.
C. By showing robots gamers. D. By presenting a conversation.
25.What can we know about the author
A. He was troubled by his son’s addiction to online games.
B. He was concerned about his son’s attitude towards friends.
C. He tried to stop his son from playing with a robot.
D. He could not get along well with his son.
26. What does the underlined word “abandoned” in paragraph 3 mean
A. Kept B. Reflected. C. Strengthened D. Quit
27. What is the text mainly about
A. The formation of deep friendship. B. Digitalized friendship.
C. The significance of online friends. D. The disadvantages of digital life.
C
There has been a very serious decline(下降) in the numbers of shallow-water fish as a result of overfishing. People still want to eat fish, so the fishing industry must look at other sources, especially the deep waters of the Atlantic. This has resulted in a sharp decline in the numbers of many of the species caught.
Protective measures will have to be put into effect if these deep-sea fish are to survive. Research on five such species shows that numbers have reduced by between 87 percent and 98 percent. This puts them on the list of “extremely endangered”. Many species could well disappear completely if the present trend continues. These are species that have been swimming in our oceans for hundreds of millions of years.
The problem is stressed by the fact that the decline in numbers happened in less than twenty years. Deep-sea fish take a long time to reproduce and normally live for many years. Unfortunately, their reproduction rate is very low. The average size of such fish also declined, with one species showing a 57 percent decline in average size. This is of typical concern, as large fish tend to produce more descendants than small ones.
None of these facts has been taken into consideration by the fishing industry. The deep-sea species have been caught as if they were the fast-breeding(快速繁殖) fish like sardine and herring. It is like killing elephants as if they reproduced at the same rate as rabbits.
The damage done by overfishing goes beyond the sea environment. Millions of people make a living in the fishing industry. Billions of people rely on fish for protein. Measures must be taken to not only preserve ecosystems, but also sustain livelihoods and ensure food security.
28. Why did people start fishing for deep-sea fish
A. Because deep sea fish tastes better.
B. Because there are not enough fish to eat in the shallow sea.
C. Because technological development makes it easier to catch deep-sea fish.
D. Because water pollution in shallow sea areas is serious.
29. According to paragraph 3, what serious results have been caused by the fishing of deep-sea fish
A. There are deep-sea fish species that are completely extinct.
B. Deep-sea fish have lost their ability to reproduce.
C. Deep-sea fish reproduce more slowly.
D. The size of deep-sea fish has decreased.
30. What can be inferred from paragraph 4
A. The fishing industry catches deep-sea fish in a ruinous way.
B. Elephants reproduce at the same rate as rabbits.
C. Sardine and herring are also endangered like deep-sea fish.
D. Elephants are being killed in large numbers.
31. What can we learn from the passage
A. Fast-breeding fish do not need protection.
B. The decline in deep-sea fish has occurred in the last 20 years.
C. The results of overfishing should be taken seriously.
D. The destruction of the deep-sea environment does not affect human life.
D

Then those with a proper color plan, such as LEGO or Facebook are likely to perform more strongly on the market. Research has also shown that men and women like different colors. Men prefer blue, green, and black while women prefer like purple and pink.

Language is part of our daily lives, no matter where we live in the world. Similarly, music is a part of many people’s lives. 36 Here are some of their similarities.
Both language and music have a writing system
37 Similarly, we use notes to keep a record of music. Just as you are reading this collection of letters on the paper and find meaning in it, musicians read notes and create meaning in the form of music which we can hear. By reading pieces of text or music, we are able to share experiences through time. For example, we can read the ideas or hear the composition of someone who lived hundreds of years ago, which is really quite exciting.
38
You can make a good guess at where someone is from by listening to the language they use. In the same way, we know that styles of music are different around the world, which gives us the opportunity to explore many different cultures through their music and providing us with music for every situation.
Both share emotion
How do you know that I am angry Of course, you may be able to see it in my face, but you will know for sure through my words. 39 Music can show you exactly how the composer was or is feeling, and allows us to share that emotion. When you feel happy, you might want to sing and dance to a happy song. 40
A. Both vary with culture.
B. Different culture makes different music.
C. Similarly, music can sound angry, sad or happy.
D. Both language and music play a huge role in our lives.
E. We use music to express emotions, combining it with language in form of lyrics(歌词).
F. In contrast, you have probably also listened to sad music when you feel down.
