Last year I joined the soccer team at our school because I had an interest in playing soccer. Before long, there was an important soccer ball game held at our school.
Interestingly,I had never played soccer at all before joining the soccer team,so I had to work hard in training.Every day,I spent quite a lot of time practicing playing soccer and I learned passing and blocking skills from my friends. After training and learning,my skills improved so much that I could pass the ball well and shoot with my teammates.
We then had our first game.In the game,we were almost matched with the other team.My main task is to stop the other team's players from scoring and pass the ball.Once I accidentally kicked the ball out of the lines.I said sorry, getting ready to be criticized ( 批 评 ) .But to my surprise,my teammates just touched my shoulder and told me that I was doing well. The crowd even cheered and encouraged me to keep playing!
I felt the support from others and the beauty of the competition as a team member. For the rest of the game,I tried my best.
When the whistle (哨子声) sounded,we tied 1-1,which meant a penalty shoot-out (点球大战) followed. My teammates and I were very nervous because we weren't sure if we could score a penalty, but our leader hugged us with a bright smile on her face. She said,"Don't worry about the score. What you should do is to enjoy every game!
Even though we didn't win the game in the end,I have a new understanding of soccer—honor and victory aren't all that matter;what's more important is teamwork and friendship.

Hundreds of years ago, blackberries ( 黑 莓 )were introduced into Australia. They became popular soon.People loved them not just for their tasty fruits, but also for their ability to stop soil( 土 壤 )from being washed away. But within just 20 years, these once-loved plants turned into a serious problem. They became one of Australia's most troublesome weeds.
Weeds are plants that take over an area, making it difficult for other plants to live.Blackberries spread quickly and in many ways. This is why their rapid growth and spread are so worrying. They grow lots of canes (茎 )from a central point, and these canes can grow up to about three meters long! They grow so fast every day that they often cover other plants, blocking out the light and causing them to die.
As some of the older blackberry canes die, they leave behind a mess. This make it almost impossible for anything else to grow there. But blackberries don't just spread through their canes. They can also grow new plants from their roots.Even a small piece of root that's been cut off can grow into a new plant. And if a cane tip touches the ground,it will start a new plant
there. The one-year-old blackberry canes don't produce flowers or fruits. They make every effort to grow and spread instead.
Because blackberries are such a problem, people often use chemicals(化学品)to kill them, trying to stop them growing completely. So,it's important to remember: never eat wild blackberries! They might look good to eat,but they could be harmful.
