参考范文:
For the moment she was determined to start our journey. About 200 yards into the forest, the trail began to climb a steep slope. I pointed out some rarely-seen trees and flowering plants, which I explained were endangered species. She didn’t share my enthusiasm. She was thirsty, tired, sweaty and bored. I handed her the water bottle as she sat on a fallen log and took a break. “You know, I think we’re almost to the top,” I told her. “You already said that three times, and we’re not there yet.” she replied. She grumbled another complain as we continued on. She might not have been happy, but at least I was proud that she had the determination not to quit before we reached the top.
A while later we did make it to the top. Jannie looked up, noticing we were no longer under the trees. When she stopped, looked around and saw where we were, her jaw dropped, her eyes opened wide and she shouted: “Oh, I don’t believe it. We’re on top of the world. It’s awesome!” A refreshing breeze brushed the mountaintop, not a cloud was in the sky and miles and miles of trees and lakes spread out below us. We sat on a large rock and took it in the view, while eating our sandwiches and pointing out islands and roads and, of course, the cottage where we were staying. It had taken us almost an hour to make the climb, but it was worth it.实验高中2025年春季学期期中考试

Four Self-Portraits (自画像) by Famous Artists
Raphael (Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino)—“Self-Portrait”, 1506
One of the beautiful self-portraits by famous artist Raphael was drawn at the age of 23. It measures around 45cm×33cm and is located at the world-famous Uffizi Gallery. The Italian painter used oil on board to draw his self-portrait, which was the clearest and the most recognizable self-portraits of Raphael himself.

“Portrait of a Man in Red Chalk”is a self-portrait of da Vinci at the age of 60 and measures around 33.3cm×21.6cm, which is on display in Biblioteca Reale, Turin, Italy. It is drawn with red chalk on paper and represents the head of an elderly man in a three-quarter view. In the portrait, the length of the hair is uncommon in Renaissance (文艺复兴) portraits.
Rembrandt van Rijn—“Self-Portrait with Beret and Turned-up Collar”, 1659
Dutch painter Rembrandt van Rijn painted his self-portrait in 1659 when he was 53 years old. This self-portrait found its place among the Benjamin Altman Collection, which has been exhibited in the Metropolitan Museum of Art since 1913.
Edgar Degas—“Degas Au Porte-Fusain’”, l855
Edgar Degas made this self-portrait only when he was twenty-one years old. It was one of the most remarkable of his fifteen self-portraits. Degas was seated as seemingly without fear and anxiety. The pose in the painting was formal and academic. The painting is located in the musée d’Orsay, Paris, France.

I look forward to my half hour train ride to work every morning. I can look out of the window as it twists and turns itself through neighborhoods with the sun casting its strong lighting on the floor of the train car. I sometimes get lost in thought while following the light. But the reason I love this ride is that it’s a reminder of how neighborhoods can change from block to block.
For almost a year now I have been riding this train as I head into the office where I work as a reporter for a local magazine. I am one of 13 journalists who help report community news in areas that are often forgotten. And for me, that means covering areas like the one I grew up in.
Last week, as I was on the way to my office, I started wondering how neighborhoods have changed since the 2008 housing crisis. I searched addresses on the city’s southwest side, a neighborhood that has seen a significant number of residential homes pulled down, I scanned the street views recorded on my phone and saw how the neighborhood looked in 2007. Then I set out to visit the city block, and that’s when I met 3-year-old Harmony.
Harmony loved collecting rocks for me to hold as I walked down the street with her mother, Marquita. I already knew what the neighborhood looked like in the past, but Marquita shared more details of the people who once lived on her block, who were really friendly to each other. However, people today in the neighborhood are busy with life and seldom say hello to each other. Marquita has lived on this block her entire life, and Harmony has for most of her short life as well. But the neighborhood that Marquita grew up in will be one obviously different than the one Harmony will grow to know.
In the end, they smiled at my camera. And then I got back on the train and headed back to the office to tell their stories.
24.What makes the author love his train ride to work
A.Being lost in thought. B.Knowing the change of blocks.
C.Enjoying the warm sunshine. D.Admiring the outside views.
25.How did the author find out what the city’s southwest side looked like in the past
A.By watching past street views. B.By interviewing local people.
C.By reading earlier reports. D.By searching his memories.
26.How might Marquita feel when she talked with the author
A.Touched. B.Nervous. C.Sad. D.Confused.
27.What is the main purpose of the text
A.To share a pleasant train ride with us. B.To introduce a new neighborhood.
C.To show us a crowded community. D.To tell us the work of a news reporter.
C
Doctors in hospital emergency rooms often see accidental poisonings. A frightened parent arrives with a child who swallowed a cleaning liquid. Or perhaps the harmful substance is a medicine. Or it might be a product meant to kill insects. These are common causes of accidental poisonings.
In cases like this, seek medical help as soon as possible. Save the container of whatever caused the poisoning. And look for information about anything that stops the effects of the poison in the container. Save anything expelled from the mouth of the victim. That way, doctors can examine it.
Millions of people know how to give abdominal thrusts (腹部按压) to save a person choking on something trapped in the throat. The American Red Cross says a rescuer should first hit the person on the back five times between the shoulder bones. If the airway is still blocked, the Red Cross suggests pushing hard five times on the victim’s abdomen. You can do these abdominal thrusts by getting directly behind a sitting or standing person.
The Mayo Clinic’s health centers suggest several steps if bleeding is severe. First, if possible, remove dirt from the wound and press it with a clean cloth or piece of clothing. In the past, people were advised to stop severe bleeding with a tourniquet (止血带). But experts now say tourniquets are dangerous because they can crush (压坏) blood passages and nerves. If a wound seems infected, let the victim rest. Physical activity can spread the Infection. Treat the wound with a mixture of salt and water until medical Help arrives.
To learn more about first aid, ask a hospital or an organization like the Red Cross or Red Crescent Society for information. Training may be offered in your area.
If you know first aid methods, you can be calmer and more helpful in case of emergency.
28.Which of the following is NOT the cause of accidental poisonings according to the passage
A.Poisonous insects. B.An insect-killing chemical.
C.A cleaning liquid. D.A harmful medicine.
29.The underlined word “expelled” in Paragraph 2 can be replaced by “________”.
A.taking up B.coming out C.going away D.getting down
30.From the passage, we can know ________.
A.now people still use a tourniquet to stop bleeding
B.the container of poison is not helpful to doctors
C.rest can do good to an infected wound
D.abdominal thrusts are for the unconscious
31.Where can you learn more about first aid according to the passage
A.The Red Crescent Society or a book. B.A hospital or a magazine.
C.The Red Cross or a patient. D.A hospital or the Red Cross.

When Joy Ryan set out to visit all 63 national parks with her grandson Brad, traveling during a global pandemic wasn’t on the to-do list. But seven years—and countless hours spent in the air and on the road—later, the 93-year-old grandma and her grandson have reached their final and most remote destination: the National Park of American Samoa.
In 2015, their journey began, when Brad discovered that his grandmother had never visited a mountain in person. He invited her on a road trip to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which is between North Carolina and Tennessee, and after that, the pair kept planning more trips.
The journey to the South Pacific wasn’t an easy one. The National Park of American Samoa is the only U.S. national park south of the equator, also making it the furthest from Ohio, where Joy resides. The adventurous pair touched down late Monday after nearly three days of travel with breaks in between.
“We took a two-day break in Oahu before boarding our final flight to Pago Pago, American Samoa, on Monday. Three flights and nearly seventeen flying hours were required before we touched down in American Samoa on Monday evening,” Brad said.
Visiting national park number 63 is a “bittersweet” milestone, Brad continued. It marks both the end of their mission and a historic achievement for Joy, who officially became the oldest person to visit all 63 national parks.
“Standing at the finish line in American Samoa affirms that seemingly impossible goals are in fact possible if you pursue them with passion and pure intention,” Brad said. “Grandma Joy has taught the world that you are never too old to show up and live the adventurous life of your dreams. It has been the greatest privilege of my life to be in the driver’s seat as Grandma Joy made history to become the oldest person to achieve this ambition.”
32.What inspired Joy Ryan and her grandson Brad to start their journey
A.A goal to visit the most remote parks.
B.A desire to escape the global pandemic.
C.A friend’s invitation to explore the South Pacific.
D.Brad’s realization that Joy hadn’t been to a mountain.
33.What was the pair’s biggest challenge on the journey to the South Pacific
A.The inconvenient transport. B.The long distance.
C.Their lacking in experience. D.The financial burden.
34.Why is visiting the National Park of American Samoa a significant achievement for Joy Ryan
A.She achieved her personal goal of visiting all national parks.
B.She became the first person to visit all national parks.
C.It marks the end of a difficult journey during the pandemic.
D.It was done with the company of her grandson.
35.What does the author mainly convey in the last paragraph
A.It is never too old for us to learn new things.
B.It is wise and thrilling to pursue practical goals.
C.Passion and intention lead to remarkable accomplishments.
D.Family members are those who we can always rely on.

This past summer, I joined my sister's family for their annual Adirondack vacation in a rented cottage on a lake, the same place my family has stayed since I was a little kid. There are plenty of activities to keep everyone busy: swimming, fishing and sand castle building on the beach.
By the third day, I had noticed that my ten-year-old niece, Jannie, had spent most of her time watching cable TV and browsing through the gift shops in town. Not exactly the wilderness experience I remembered from my youth. So, at dinner, I told Jannie we should hike to the top of the mountain across the lake the following morning, which was called Rocky Point because the peak is bare and rock-covered.
"Well." replied Jannie, "Tomorrow there are some shows on the Disney Channel, so I'm going to be pretty busy."
"When your mother and I used to come here when we were your age, we were too busy swimming and hiking up mountains."
"Sounds more like punishment than a vacation." She shrugged her shoulders. "Besides, I don't think I can walk that far."
When I said it only took a half-hour of steady walking to get to the top. She grumbled, "Fine, I'll go." I knew she was agreeing just to shut me up, but I would take anything I could get.
The next morning was a perfect day for a hike, with sunshine and clear skies. I got up early and took some sandwiches and water bottles, which I tucked into my backpack along with the bug spray and the camera.
Jannie came shuffling(拖着脚走) downstairs, sighed dramatically, rolled her eyes and announced in a very unenthusiastic, robot-like voice. "I'm ready to go hiking, Uncle David." Anyway, we climbed into my car and drove to the trailhead(小道起点) about ten minutes away. As we stood at the edge of the parking lot and looked down the shaded trail(阴凉的小径) that led into the woods. "I am still not sure this is a good idea, but if you and Mom could do it, I can too, I guess."
