【教学过程】
Teacher: Good morning, class! How are you all today
Students: Good morning, teacher! We are fine, thank you. And you
Teacher: I'm great, thank you. Before we start our new unit, let's have a little chat. Did anyone do anything interesting over the weekend (Invites a few students to share their weekend experiences)
Student 1: I went to the park with my family. We flew a kite and had a picnic.
Teacher: That sounds wonderful! What a lovely way to spend the weekend. How about you, Student 2
Student 2: I watched a movie at home. It was an action movie, and it was really exciting.
Teacher: Nice! Movies can be a great form of entertainment. Now, let's get started with Unit 1. The title of this unit is "This is me". In this unit, we are going to talk about ourselves, our health, and how to describe our feelings and problems.
Teacher: First, let's look at some pictures on the screen. (Shows pictures of different body parts) Can you tell me what these are in English Point to the picture of the head.
Student 3: It's a head.
Teacher: Very good! And this one (Points to the picture of the neck)
Student 4: Neck.
Teacher: Correct. Now, let's review all the main body parts together. Head, neck, back, arm, hand, leg, foot. Repeat after me. (Leads the students to repeat several times) Now, I want you to work in pairs. Point to different parts of your body and say the English words. (Gives the students a few minutes to practice)
Teacher: Okay, everyone. Stop for a moment. Let's move on. Do you know what we should do when we don't feel well For example, if you have a headache, what would you do
Student 5: I would lie down and rest.
Teacher: That's a good idea. Rest is very important when you have a headache. What else
Student 6: Maybe take some medicine.
Teacher: Right. Taking medicine can sometimes help relieve the pain. Now, let's learn some useful phrases related to health problems. (Writes on the blackboard: have a cold, have a cough, have a toothache, have a stomachache, have a fever) Read these phrases after me.
Students: (Read after the teacher)
Teacher: Let's break them down. "Have a cold" means you have caught a cold virus and might have symptoms like a runny nose, sneezing, and feeling a bit unwell. "Have a cough" is when you keep coughing. "Have a toothache", as the name suggests, means your tooth hurts. "Have a stomachache" is when your stomach is painful, and "have a fever" means your body temperature is higher than normal. Do you understand
Students: Yes, teacher.
Teacher: Good. Now, I'll show you some more pictures. These pictures show people with different health problems. I want you to tell me what's wrong with them using the phrases we just learned. (Shows a picture of a boy sneezing and coughing)
Student 7: He has a cold and a cough.
Teacher: Excellent! You're very quick. (Shows another picture of a girl holding her stomach)
Student 8: She has a stomachache.
Teacher: Correct. Well done. Now, let's think about what advice we can give to these people. If someone has a cold, what advice can we give
Student 9: Drink enough water and get plenty of rest.
Teacher: Perfect! Drinking water helps keep your body hydrated, and rest allows your body to recover. What about if someone has a toothache
Student 10: Go to see a dentist.
Teacher: Exactly. A dentist can help fix the problem with your teeth. Let's practice giving advice. I'll tell you a health problem, and you give the advice. I have a headache.
Student 11: You should lie down and rest. Maybe you can also put a cold towel on your forehead.
Teacher: Great advice. Now, I have a cough.
Student 12: Drink some hot tea with honey. It can soothe your throat.
Teacher: Wonderful. Honey has a soothing effect on a sore throat. Now, let's learn a very important sentence structure. "What's the matter with you " This is a very common way to ask someone if they are not feeling well. We can also say "What's wrong with you " or "What's the trouble with you " They all mean the same thing. Repeat after me. (Leads the students to repeat the sentence structures several times)
Teacher: Now, let's do a role - play. I'll divide you into pairs. One of you will pretend to have a health problem, and the other will ask "What's the matter with you " and then give some advice. After a while, you can switch roles. (Gives the students time to do the role - play, walks around the classroom to monitor and offer help)
Teacher: Okay, everyone. Time's up. Who would like to come to the front of the class and show us your role - play (Invites a few pairs to come to the front and perform)
Pair 1:
Student A: What's the matter with you
Student B: I have a fever. I feel so hot.
Student A: You should stay in bed and drink lots of water. You can also take some fever - reducing medicine.
Teacher: Very good. You both did a great job with the dialogue and the advice. Now, let's summarize what we've learned today. We learned many body parts in English, some common health problems and how to describe them, and also how to ask about someone's health problem and give advice.
Teacher: For homework, I want you to write a short passage. Imagine you are a doctor. A patient comes to see you. Describe his/her health problem and the advice you give. You can use the words and phrases we learned today. Make sure to write at least five sentences. I will collect your homework tomorrow. That's all for today's class. Goodbye, class!
Students: Goodbye, teacher!
