宾语从句（I）
在复合句中充当宾语的从句叫宾语从句，它在句中可以充当及物动词、介词或形容词的宾语。本单元的重点语法是that，if和whether引导的宾语从句。
1．宾语从句的引导词
（1）that引导的宾语从句
当宾语从句的原形是陈述句时，用连接词that引导，that本身无意义，只起引导作用，在口语或非正式文体中常被省略。
I think（that） Tony can swim.我认为托尼会游泳。
重点提醒：在宾语从句中，引导词that在以下情况中不可省略：
①当动词后跟有复合宾语结构，it作形式宾语，that从句作真正的宾语时。
They found it difficult that they would finish their work in two days.他们觉得在两天内完成工作很难。
②当宾语从句中又含有状语从句时。
I＇m afraid that if you＇ve lost it，you must pay for it.我恐怕你如果把它弄丢了，你必须赔偿。
③当两个或多个宾语从句由并列连词连接时，除第一个从句中的that可以省略外，其余的that通常都不省略。
He said （that） he liked English very much and that he had read lots of English books.他说他非常喜欢英语，他看了许多英文书籍。
（2）if和whether引导的宾语从句
①当宾语从句的原形是一般疑问句时，要用连接词if或whether引导。if和whether意为“是否”，不充当句子成分，但不能省略。一般情况下二者可互换，但if常用于口语中，whether常用于正式文体中。
He wants to know if／whether I like English.他想知道我是否喜欢英语。
She asked me if／whether she could come in.她问我她能否进来。
②表示“是否”时只能用whether而不能用if的情况：
与or not连用时，只能用whether。 I don＇t know whether she will come or not.我不知道她是否会来。
所引导的从句作介词的宾语时，只能用whether。 Everything depends on whether you work hard.一切取决于你们是否努力学习。
后接带to的动词不定式时，只能用whether。 I didn＇t know whether to laugh or to cry.我不知道该笑还是该哭。
当引导的宾语从句置于句首表示强调时，只能用whether。 Whether he will succeed，I＇m not sure.我不确定他会不会成功。
2．宾语从句的语序
由that，if或whether引导的宾语从句要用陈述句语序，即用“主语＋谓语＋其他”结构，且句末的标点符号取决于主句。
He tells me that he is going shopping this Sunday.他告诉我他这个星期天要去购物。
Can you tell me if／whether the answer is right？ 你能告诉我这个答案是对的吗？
3．宾语从句的时态
（1）如果主句是一般现在时，则宾语从句可用其所需要的任何时态。
I want to know if he will come tomorrow.我想知道他明天是否会来。
（2）如果主句是一般过去时，则宾语从句必须使用过去的某种时态。
I didn＇t know if they had been here.我不知道他们是否来过这儿。
重点提醒：如果宾语从句的内容表示的是客观事实，真理或自然现象等，从句必须要用一般现在时，不受主句时态的限制。
The teacher told us that the earth goes around the sun.老师告诉我们地球绕着太阳转动。
