Dear Chris,
I just participated in a speech contest titled “Technology Changes Life”, which was organized by our school s English club. My speech is about the smartphone. It is an important tool in our daily life. With it, we can stay connected with others, access vast amounts of information, and even handle work and entertainment easily.
What a wonderful experience! It made me realize the power of technology in bringing people together, even if we re thousands of miles apart. It continuously reshapes the way we live and work.
How has technology impacted your daily life Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this.
Yours,
Li Hua
读后续写:
One possible version:
On the day of the reunion, Maycie walked into a room filled with balloons and smiles. There, she saw Sophie, now a healthy and vibrant 8 year old, running and laughing like any other child. The transformation was astonishing, and Maycie s heart swelled with emotion. Sophie ran towards Maycie, hugging her tightly. “You re my hero,” she whispered, tears of joy in her eyes. Maycie held her, overwhelmed by the love and gratitude that surrounded her. The two embraced, a moment of pure joy and gratitude that brought tears to the eyes of everyone present.
Seeing Sophie healthy and lively, Maycie was glad she had made that decision. It was a reminder that kindness could have profound and lasting impacts. After their reunion, Maycie reflected on the emotional experience and encouraged others to consider becoming donors, emphasizing the chance to “give the gift of life”. “Don t even think twice,” she said. “Do it. For sure.” Maycie returned to her classroom with a renewed sense of purpose, sharing her story with her students. She wanted them to understand the power of compassion and the incredible gifts of life that they could all be a part of.

Text 10
American researchers say dust clouds from dry African deserts may be a threat to human health in the United States. They say the dust may contain many small organisms that could be dangerous to some people. Each year, huge storms form in the Sahara Desert of North Africa. Winds carry the dust across the Atlantic Ocean. The movement of dust has been increasing in recent years because of longer periods without rain in Africa. From February to April, the dust settles in South America. From June to October, the winds change and transport the dust to North America, Central America and the Caribbean. More than half of the dust that reaches the United States settles in the state of Florida. For many years, it has caused the skies there to turn red. There is probably a link between the dust storms and the higher rates of breathing problems in people in this area.英 语

Have you ever read a book and found that one of the characters is exactly your carbon copy And you relate to the character so well that you can't help but wonder if the author had somehow observed your own life Well, that is Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables for me.
There are many instances in the book where I particularly felt connected to little Anne, like the one where she does a performance at a school concert. Although she has got up on stage several times before, this is the time she got a taste of stage fright. The same thing happened to me during a poetry competition in high school. Never had I found the stage as intimidating as I did on that day. There's another situation where her friends don't miss home as much, while Anne is terribly homesick. I could imagine how Anne feels. I've always wondered how people can move out of a place where they've spent their entire childhood and not feel even a pinch of sorrow.
Whether it is the world of imagination that she loves to weave, or the experience of growing up as a lonely child, or the beautiful moments of daydreaming, or her fondness for nature—Anne is me, through and through. As I read through the chapters learning about her chattering nature as a kid that grew quieter during adolescence and the respect for her teachers, I saw myself in her.
I grew so close to Anne and her friendships, her school and her dear little Green Gables and its inhabitants, that I couldn't control my tears when I finished reading the last chapter. That's what books do. They give you the freedom to live inside their fictional world even when you're aware that you're only a reader who exists outside. And although your existence inside that fictional world is imaginary and temporary, you end up cherishing that experience for a lifetime.
24.What does the underlined word “intimidating” in Paragraph 2 mean ( )
A.Horrible. B.Competitive. C.Beautiful. D.Boring.
25.What does the author think of those who don't feel homesick ( )
A.She can't imagine their childhood. B.She appreciates their independence.
C.She can't understand their behavior. D.She sympathizes with their sorrow.
26.What kind of person is Anne Shirley ( )
A.Imaginative and nature loving. B.Proud and dream pursuing.
C.Creative but lonely minded. D.Competitive but self centered.
27.Why did the author cry when she finished the book ( )
A.She was moved by Anne's tough experience.
B.She hated to part with her beloved character.
C.She failed to understand the story in the book.
D.She was unhappy with the ending of the book.

The transportation of goods forms the basis of today's globally distributed supply chains, and long distance trucking is a critical link in this complex system. To meet climate goals around the world, hydrogen based options have become a promising strategy.
However, hydrogen has significant limitations when it comes to delivery and refueling. These roadblocks, combined with hydrogen's convincing potential of reducing CO2 emissions, motivated a team of researchers led by William H. Green. They intended to explore a way to transport and store hydrogen using liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHCs), which are organic substances that can absorb and release hydrogen through chemical reactions. The team is developing a new technology that allows LOHCs to not only deliver hydrogen to the trucks but also store hydrogen onboard.
Currently, LOHCs, which work within the existing system of fuel distribution, are used to deliver hydrogen to refueling stations, where it is then processed and delivered onto trucks equipped with hydrogen fuel cells.
“The current approach causes significant energy loss at the refueling station,” says Green. “To address this, our work is exploring a more efficient application, with LOHC powered trucks featuring onboard dehydrogenation(脱氢).”
To carry out such a design, the team aims to adjust the truck's powertrain(动力系统) to allow onboard hydrogen release from the LOHCs, using waste heat from the engine exhaust pipe(排气管). The dehydrogenation process happens within a high temperature reactor, which continually receives hydrogen rich LOHCs from the fuel storage tank. Hydrogen released from the reactor is fed to the engine. On its way to the engine, some of the hydrogen is redirected to a burner to heat the reactor, which helps increase the reactor heat.
Regardless of technical improvements, these existing options remain quite expensive due to the high cost of hydrogen delivery. “Using hydrogen is an option that is globally accessible, and could be extended to countries like the one where I'm from,” says Moreno Sader, who is from Colombia. “Since it works well with existing supporting facilities, large investments in advance are unnecessary. The global applicability is huge. There is also enormous potential to improve delivery and refueling to further reduce the cost, and our system is working to do that,” says Sader.
28.What has kept hydrogen from being widely used ( )
A.Its potential threat to the environment.
B.Its complex process of power generation.
C.Its restrictions on shipment and refueling.
D.Its inconvenience in production.
29.What can we know about the team's new technology ( )
A.It enhances trucks'carrying capacity.
B.It is intended to carry dangerous gases.
C.It helps design a new type of transport truck.
D.It makes innovations based on present LOHCs.
30.What does Paragraph 5 mainly focus on ( )
A.Added information about LOHCs.
B.Challenges of redesigning the truck's powertrain.
C.An explanation of the onboard dehydrogenation process.
D.Advantages of using hydrogen in long distance transportation.
31.What does Moreno Sader imply about the application of hydrogen ( )
A.It is a double edged sword. B.It requires huge investments.
C.It is worth promoting worldwide. D.It facilitates technical improvements.

Few insects strike greater fear into the hearts of farm owners than rosy apple aphids(蚜虫), which feed on the leaves of apple trees, causing them to curl up and harden. This provides shelter from pesticide sprays and a severe outbreak can reduce the yield by 80%.
To fight against rosy apple aphids, some suggest using tiny parasitoid(拟寄生物昆虫) wasps. Unlike predators that kill and eat their prey, these wasps allow their offspring to feed on and ultimately kill the host.
Females inject their eggs into rosy apple aphids after mating, and the hatching offspring consume the hosts'organs before emerging as adults. Employing these wasps could reduce or cut out the need for chemical pesticides, saving money and helping fruit growers achieve the premium price generating “organic” label that prohibits such chemicals.
Using wasps for pest control has a long history but has often failed. Researchers at the Catholic University of Louvain believe this is due to a focus on the dietary needs of the flesh eating larvae(幼虫), neglecting those of the honey loving adults. They suggest planting flower banks beside trees to address this issue, as detailed in the Annals of Applied Biology.
To test this idea, they ran an experiment in an organic apple farm. They divided it into six plots. Three were planted with strips of a mixture of 30 wildflower species. The other three they left flowerless, as controls. As aphid season approached, they attached to each of the nine trees per plot a tube containing about 1,250 wasp larvae. Then they examined selected trees on a ten day basis for aphids.
The presence of flowers, they found, was associated with a one third reduction in aphid numbers, compared with the controls. Though that is not as impressive as the 80%-90% drop achieved with pesticide treatments, it is a proof of principle. And improved management and understanding of the wasps'ecological needs could benefit fruit growers looking to maintain their “organic” label while still harvesting crops.
32.Why are rosy apple aphids a source of great anxiety for farmers ( )
A.They will easily go unnoticed. B.They may cause a sharp output drop.
C.They provide shelter for bugs. D.They reproduce on apple leaves.
33.Why may farmers prefer employing wasps for pest control ( )
A.It requires little monitoring. B.It's convenient to operate.
C.It increases insects'populations. D.It's economical and eco friendly.
34.What can be inferred from the experiment ( )
A.Flowers can enhance aphid control.
B.Wasps can wipe out aphids completely.
C.Wasps are cheaper to apply than pesticides.
D.Flowers compete with aphids for resources.
35.(高考风向题)Which of the following is the best title for the text ( )

Wildlife documentaries are known for offering breathtaking images of animals in their natural habitats. You might be thinking that these shows offer a totally real portrayal(描绘) of these animals—an objective window into their lives as they hunt, rest and raise their young. 36( ) While the images we see are filmed on location, many of the sounds are recorded in a sound studio and added to the programs later by human “Foley artists(拟音师)”.
37( ) Usually, documentary filmmakers can film their subjects from a great distance, but they typically can't get close enough to capture clear sounds without disturbing the animals. 38( ) There will probably be background noises such as crew members chatting or walking around if sounds are recorded on location. In other cases, the animals might make sounds of a frequency or volume that most microphones simply can't capture clearly.
“Foley artists” will use a variety of tools to simulate(模拟) the sounds made by animals. And most of them will create the close up sounds of animals chewing or yawning with their own mouths. These sounds are created as the artist watches the videos, making sure they perfectly match the actions they're paired with. 39( ) Animal cries—which are far too complex to be simulated—will have to be taken from library recordings.
Watching “Foley artists” at work on wildlife projects gives me a thrill like the one we get when we see how a magic trick is done. 40( ) Sounds have the ability to affect how we understand a given species. The way certain animals are portrayed in popular media may affect support for conservation efforts.
A.But this isn't quite the case.
B.There are some exceptions, though.
C.The Foley process involves a large team.
D.“Foley artists” are creative and resourceful.
E.Wildlife documentaries also tend to require large crews.
F.Admittedly, the significance of the technique goes further.
G.This is an unavoidable outcome of modern wildlife filmmaking.

Maycie Fuselier was a warm hearted young woman with a genuine care for others. Three years ago, during a charity event, she signed up to be a bone marrow(骨髓) donor, hoping to make a difference in someone's life. As time passed, the memory of that selfless act faded into the background of her busy life as a high school English teacher.
In September 2022, Adam and Candace Cromer learned that their daughter, Sophie, then only 6 years old, had been diagnosed with aplastic anemia, a rare and serious bone marrow disease.
“It was severe,” Candace said. “We did our own research and found the only cure option was to have a bone marrow transplant.”
It was an ordinary afternoon when Maycie's phone rang and she answered, expecting a routine call, but the voice on the other end brought unexpected news.
“Hello, Maycie This is calling from the National Bone Marrow Registry. We have a potential match for your donor profile. A young girl named Sophie, who is suffering from a rare and severe bone marrow disease called aplastic anemia, needs your help. Are you still willing to donate ”
The news that she was a match for Sophie left her both surprised and nervous. Unsure of what to do, she sought guidance from her father.
“He said that I should think about it and I did,” she shared.
After taking his advice, she made the life changing decision. “I'm so glad I said yes,” Maycie added, reflecting on the experience.
The process was swift and efficient. Maycie underwent a series of tests to confirm her compatibility, and soon, it was confirmed that she was indeed a match for Sophie. The thought of being able to save a child's life filled her with a profound sense of purpose and joy.
In January 2023, Sophie's life was saved by a bone marrow transplant from Maycie. The Children's of Alabama organized a special meeting for them in September 2024.
注意:续写词数应为150左右。
On the day of the reunion, Maycie walked into a room filled with balloons and smiles.

Seeing Sophie healthy and lively, Maycie was glad she had made that decision.
