Every year,many tourists come to Beijing to see the Great Wall and the Palace Museum.
Also,the hutongs often leave a very deep impression()on them.
Most of Beijing's hutongs appeared between the 13th and 19th centuries during the Yuan,
Ming and Qing dynasties.To help them keep control over the city,the emperors built hutongs
around courtyards.So,they could have their men stand at the entrances()of the hutongs to

government worked hard to improve the conditions of the hutongs and make them better.
