散文的“情感”多体现在文中的议论抒情句中,如本文首段中的“I have often thought it would be a blessing if each human being were stricken blind and deaf for a few days at some time during his early adult life.”及尾段中的“Use your eyes as if tomorrow you would be stricken blind.”,由这些句子可以推知,作者写本文是为了告诫身体健全的人们应热爱生活,珍惜生命。
1.In the afternoon I should take a long walk in the woods and intoxicate my eyes on the beauties of the world of nature.
2.The following morning, I should again greet the dawn, anxious to discover new delights, new revelations of beauty.
①Guilin is such a beautiful place that __________________________.(心理描写)桂林是一个如此美丽的地方,我迫不及待地想去看看。
②With the lights of the city extinguished, ____________________ in the night sky.

Use your eyes as if tomorrow you would be stricken blind.
She got dizzy and felt ______________________________________________ beneath her feet.
On my second day, I should like to see the pageant of man's progress, and I should go to the museums. I should try to probe into the soul of man through his art.
Who knows ______________________________________, what medical advances you will make or what amazing technologies you will develop!
How was it possible, I asked myself, to walk for an hour through the woods and see nothing worthy of note I who cannot see find hundreds of things to interest me through mere touch.

A
When I was 13, I climbed my first mountain — a fairly gentle 3,900 foot peak. I was overweight at the time and out of breath when I reached the summit. But I loved challenging myself. Soon I'd climbed nearly 100 peaks. My parents were happy I'd finally found a hobby.
I often go climbing with my friend Mel Olsen. She and I drove to tackle 11,240 foot Mount Hood. It's safer to start winter climbs at night when there's less risk of the sun melting the snowpack. That day, we started at 3 a. m. At around 9 a. m., we reached an ice step. It was about three or four feet tall and sloped at a 75 degree angle. I volunteered to go first. I placed my left foot on the ice step.
I gained a sense of the ice when I stuck my ax and crampons (鞋底钉) into it, and it felt good. Confident I was safe, I put my full weight on it. Suddenly, I heard a crack, and as the snowpack became thinner, a whole piece of ice broke off the step, right under my foot.
In an instant, I fell backward, bouncing off the rock face and rolling down the mountain as if I were a character in a video game. I remember thinking, “This is it. You're done.” I stuck out my arms and legs, grabbing at anything. That stopped my rolling down the mountain, but I was still sliding. After a few seconds, I came to a stop on a shallow slope.
I asked myself:Where are you Mount Hood. What's the date December 30. Good. My brain was functioning. Then I checked my body to see where I was hurt. For the most part, I was fine, except that I was suffering from a sharp pain in my left leg. Later I'd learn that I'd broken my femur (股骨) and that the bone was slicing into my skin and muscle.
At the bottom of Mount Hood, I was loaded into an ambulance and taken to a hospital. The doctors told me it would be a year before I could climb again, but I was back on the trails within six months.
1. Why did the author and her friend set out at 3 a. m.
A. It was the best time to enjoy the scenery.
B. It was more challenging to climb at night.
C. They wanted to finish the climb before sunset.
D. They hoped to avoid some possible dangers.

根据第二段中的“It's safer to start winter climbs at night when there's less risk of the sun melting the snowpack.”
2. Why is “a character in a video game” mentioned in paragraph 4
A. To show her strong character.
B. To make her idea more convincing.
C. To help readers imagine the scene.
D. To add to the humour of the description.

根据第四段中的“In an instant, I fell backward, bouncing off the rock face and rolling down the mountain as if I were a character in a video game.”
3. How did the author make sure she could still think clearly
A. By recalling what had happened.
B. By checking whether she was injured.
C. By calling an ambulance for rescue.
D. By asking herself some factual questions.

第五段中的两个问题“Where are you?”“What's the date?”
4. What can we learn about the author
A. She is too brave to pay attention to any danger.
B. She has a strong desire for professional knowledge.
C. Setbacks can't stop her from challenging herself.
D. The love for nature sets her apart from her friends.

B
No doubt there are ups and downs in life. Whatever the situation is, you shouldn't lose your joy of life. Life is for a limited time only and no one knows how long he/she will live, so why do you waste your time in worrying about the things that are beyond your control Be happy, and enjoy your life unconditionally
You enjoy good days, but you also need to learn how to enjoy bad days, even enjoy your pain. In 2016 I suffered a sudden heart attack. My colleagues called an ambulance (救护车) and I was taken to hospital with much pain in my chest. Before reaching hospital, I was totally exhausted with pain and was going to lose control of my emotions. Then the doctor in the ambulance said, “Don't worry; you are in safe hands.” His words took away all my pain because I started realizing that it was no time to worry about pain and it's time to be happy that my life was safe. At that time, I learnt an important lesson that in pain there is a hidden joy and we must see the bright side and enjoy pain.
You not only enjoy success, but you also need to learn to enjoy failure. Celebrating failure will raise your morale and make you more powerful and determined to achieve success. We all make mistakes in life, but only the courageous (勇敢的) people laugh at their mistakes and then they reach success without any spiritual burden. A person who learns from mistakes and knows how to turn the bad situation into his/her favor is the most intelligent person and really enjoys his/her life.
5. What does the author mainly tell us in the first paragraph
A. Life is full of ups and downs.
B. People's lives only last a limited period.
C. We should enjoy our life unconditionally.
D. Bad situations can be changed into good ones.

6. Why did the author still feel happy when experiencing much pain
A. His colleagues were always with him.
B. He could be looked after by his parents.
C. He planned to enjoy the last days in life.
D. His doctor made him realize the value of being alive.

根据第二段中的“His words took ...life was safe.”
7. The underlined word “morale” in paragraph 3 is closest in meaning to “ ”.
A. talent B. confidence
C. pleasure D. inspiration
根据画线词后的“make you more powerful and determined to achieve success”可知,作者是说庆祝失败可以增加你的“信心”,使你更有力量,更有决心去取得胜利。

8. The author thinks that the wisest person .
A. never laughs at others
B. has strong determination
C. is ready to do others a favor
D. is good at learning from mistakes

When he did it, all 16 hours, 46 minutes and 9 seconds of physical and psychological hell, his father told him, “You woke up this morning as a boy with Down syndrome. 9 ”
Chris Nikic. He's 21.
He made the unrealistic into his reality. 10 Last fall, he became the first person with Down syndrome to have completed an Ironman triathlon — a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run.
Chris Nikic is not just an Ironman — he's a superhero. “Since the race, we have received thousands and thousands of messages from people around the world who are inspired by his journey. 11 They have kids with special needs or Down syndrome. And so it's touched Chris and us quite a lot,” said Chris' father, Nik Nikic.
“ 12 Because he lets them use him as a mirror to look inwardly and say, ‘Look, if he can do so much with so little, what can I do with what I've got?’ It's not about him — it's about how he makes other people feel about themselves,” Nik Nikic said. Chris Nikic's story spread among the staff at Special Olympics Missouri.
As it was explained by Brian Neuner, Chief Development & Marketing Officer, “ 13 And so, this was just an amazing example of where his ability was realized, even though he has a disability. We really focus on programs that are designed for helping people move forward and advance. Progress can be measured in so many different ways. Obviously, an Ironman is an extreme achievement.”
A. Then came the big race.
B. You're going home as an Ironman.
C. A lot of the messages are from families like us.
D. We really focus on the ability, not the disability.
E. Chris underwent surgery that left him sedentary(惯于久坐不动的).
F. The native of Maitland, Florida believed in the unbelievable.
G. I think in many ways he helps people to realize that they can do more.

根据第二段中的“It's safer to start winter climbs at night when there's less risk of the sun melting the snowpack.”
根据第四段中的“In an instant, I fell backward, bouncing off the rock face and rolling down the mountain as if I were a character in a video game.”
第五段中的两个问题“Where are you?”“What's the date?”
根据第二段中的“His words took ...life was safe.”
根据画线词后的“make you more powerful and determined to achieve success”可知,作者是说庆祝失败可以增加你的“信心”,使你更有力量,更有决心去取得胜利。
