The Mosquito and the Lion
One day,a tiny mosquito set off for a big adventure.The mosquito was very proud and
thought he was better than the other creatures in the forest.He wanted to be the king of the
jungle.
He knew how to make his dream come true.His plan involved the 'other'king of the
jungle-the lion.The mosquito looked for the lion near a river,but he only found an old
snake.
'Hisssssssss!'said the snake.
'I don't have time to waste on an animal which can't even walk,'the mosquito said.
Then he flew to a lake.He was disappointed to find a wild dog with spotted fur.

'Yip!Yip!'cried the wild dog.
'What an ugly animal!'the mosquito said.
He flew away quickly so that he didn't have to look at him anymore.He was flying above a
field when he heard a growl from below.He looked down to see the lion lying in the tall
grass.

'Listen here,Lion!'the mosquito shouted.'You may be brave and strong,but I'm the frue
king of the jungle!'
The lion yawned.
Now I'm going to prove it!'The mosquito flew straight at the lion and stung the tip of his
nose.

The lion roared and tried to hit the mosquito,but his sharp claws cut his own nose.The
mosquito buzzed around the lion's head,stinging him over and over again.When the lion
finally gave up,he was covered with cuts.
The mosquito laughed,'I told you I'm the king of the-!'
Suddenly he flew into a spider's web.He tried to get away,but he was stuck.He looked at

the spider coming to eat him.You can't eat me,'he said.You're just a little spider-and
I'm the king of the jungle!'
But the spider did eat theking'-every proud bit of him!
