Stephenson, a retired officer and Titanic historian, was walking slowly around the Titanic’s digital copy: a one-for-one computer model created using advanced 3D technology. This model allows researchers to explore every part of the ship in great detail, something that’s impossible when swimming to the actual wreck (失事船舶).
Stephenson first saw the Titanic wreck in 2005 and has visited it twice. But during those experiences, he could only see what was right in front of him through a small viewport. It was like being in a dark room with a weak flashlight. The digital model, however, offers a 360-degree view of every detail, even something like tables and chairs in a room.
The digital model was made by Magellan, a deep-sea mapping company, in 2022. Over three weeks, two robots named Romeo and Juliet took 715,000 photos and millions of measurements of the wreck. The result is the largest underwater 3D work ever made, which is so exact to help researchers like Stephenson explore the truth about the Titanic.
The ship has been divided into two main parts. The front part is largely without any destroy and directly embedded into the ocean floor, while the other part is broken into pieces. Researchers have long puzzled over how the back of the ship broke apart. But with the digital model, Stephenson could immediately see what might have happened to this part. This model is not just a copy; it’s a new way to understand history.
4. Why was Stephenson’s past experiences mentioned
A. To stress digital advantages.
B. To describe research challenges.
C To compare old technology with 3D.
D. To reproduce the accident on the Titanic.
5. What does the author think of the digital model
A. Costly. B. Practical. C. Perfect. D. Simple.
6 What can be a suitable title for the text
A. Secrets of the Titanic Discovered
B. Robots Explore the Ocean Floor
C. A New Window into the Titanic
D. The History of Underwater Scans
7. Where is the text probably taken from
A. A story book. B. A research report.
C. A travel brochure. D. A science magazine.

Pandas, native to southwest China, are famous for their love of bamboo. Interestingly, despite having a digestive (消化) system similar to that of meat-eating animals, pandas prefer eating bamboo. Scientists have uncovered some fascinating reasons behind this unique dietary choice.
Pandas can spend up to 16 hours a day eating bamboo, during which they get a special genetic (基因) material called microRNA (miRNA) into their bloodstream. According to research led by China West Normal University, miRNA influences how genetic information is expressed in pandas’ bodies, shaping their behaviors and senses.
Dr. Li Feng, a senior researcher, explained that miRNA affects pandas senses of smell and taste, which are closely linked to their feeding habits. As a result, young pandas gradually develop the ability to select the freshest and most delicious bamboo, which is important for their survival in the wild.
While nearly all of a panda’s diet is bamboo, pandas occasionally eat other plants or even small animals like mice. However, bamboo remains their food source due to its harvest and the miRNA in it.
The study did researches on blood samples (样本) from six adult pandas and one baby panda. Scientists found 57 different types of miRNA, likely coming from bamboo. These findings offer valuable insights into how plant miRNA impacts animal health and could potentially lead to new treatments or preventive measures for diseases.
In summary, pandas eat bamboo because the miRNA in bamboo influences their genetic expression, affecting their behavior, senses, and health, which allows them to live on a plant-based diet, despite their meat-eating digestive system. Understanding this unique relationship between pandas and bamboo can help us deeply understand the close connections in nature.
8. Why do pandas eat bamboo instead of meat
A. Bamboo is more delicious than meat. B. Bamboo is easy to digest for pandas.
C. Bamboo grows fast and contains miRAN. D. Bamboo benefits pandas’ digestive system.
9. What is the function of miRNA
A. It shapes pandas’ living conditions. B. It controls pandas’ digestive system.
C. It impacts on pandas’ body functions. D. It has an influence on pandas’ bloodstream.
10. What can we learn about the miRNA study
A. It was conducted by Dr. Li Feng.
B. It tested pandas’ blood for research.
C. It focused on pandas’ digestive system.
D. It was designed to research pandas’ habits.
11. What might be the influence of the study
A. Developing disease treatments. B. Improving pandas’ senses.
C. Training pandas behaviors. D. Protecting bamboo forests.
D
According to new health guidelines, even a minute or two of physical exercise is better than nothing: just walking upstairs and down again, makes for healthier life than if you hadn’t done. The previous recommendation was for at least 10 minutes, but for years, the general direction of research has been toward the conclusion that there is no limit at all. This doesn’t just go for exercise, either. Five minutes in nature can also improve your health. If you are wondering whether or not some tiny but healthful activity is worth it, the answer, almost always, is yes.
It’s a little strange, actually, that this is even a topic of debate. Of course anything is better than nothing. For one thing, it’s a good start for building habits. For another, tiny actions are valuable in themselves. Human bodies aren’t digital equipment, and health generally isn’t a matter of reaching fixed thresholds. What is good for the bodies in large amount is usually good in smaller one, too.
The real reason for the debate is that information is dangerous. When public bodies recommend, say, a 10-minute minimum (最小值), it’s because they worry that if they don’t, people who might otherwise have exercised for 10 minutes will stop after two.
Ideally, we would stop thinking about healthy behaviors in terms of minimums. You should be doing as much exercise as you can, not as little as you can get away with. Remember that nothing is too minor to be not worth the bother. This is a sensible way to much of life, I would say, from being a good friend or paying attention to your kids, to saving money or reducing your environmental impact. However much you do, it will never be enough. But that is not a reason to do nothing — on the contrary, it’s a reason to do something.
12. What was the previous exercise recommendation
A. Two minutes daily. B. Ten minutes minimum.
C. Five minutes minimum. D. No fixed requirement.
13. What does the underlined word “thresholds” in paragraph two mean
A. Digital demands. B. Mental goals.
C. Common standards. D. Healthy challenges.
14. What might happen without exercise guidelines
A. People will exercise more.
B. Researches will be stopped.
C. People may not do enough exercise.
D. Exercise results will become unclear.
15. What does the author suggest people do about healthy behaviors
A. Take daily exercise usually. B. Get away with the bother.
C. Focus on achieving minimums. D. Do sports as much as possible.

The forest was filled with towering trees, colorful wildflowers, and all kinds of animals. The villagers often warned them not to go too deep into the forest, as it was said to be dangerous.
One sunny morning, Mia and Leo decided to go on another adventure. They packed some snacks, and a map. As they walked deeper into the forest, they were amazed by the beauty of nature. They met with rare birds and followed a sparkling stream.
But as the day went on, they realized they had gone further than they had ever been before. The trees began to look all the same, and the path they were on seemed to disappear. Mia started to feel worried. “Leo, I think we’re lost,” she said, her voice trembling (颤抖) a bit. Leo tried to stay calm. “Don’t worry, Mia. We have the map. We’ll find our way back,” he replied, though he was also feeling anxious inside.
They tried to go back exactly the way they have come, but every path seemed familiar yet different. The forest, once a place of wonder, now felt deathlike and unwelcoming. The sun was beginning to set, and the shadows grew longer. Mia and Leo knew they had to do something before night fell.
Just as they were about to sit down and work out a plan, they heard a strange noise coming from the bushes nearby. It was a low angry sound. Mia held Leo by his arm, her eyes wide with fear. “What was that ” she whispered. Leo shook his head, not knowing the answer. They gathered their courage and carefully approached the bushes.

47. Once, in a small village at the side of a big forest, lived two best friends, Mia and Leo. They were both curious and adventurous, always exploring the nearby woods together.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
To their surprise, Mia and Leo found an injured hiker lying there. The man’s ankle was swollen and covered in mud, and he explained that he’d slipped on a wet rock while chasing a rare butterfly. Though weak, he managed to tell them his name — Mr. Johnson — and that he’d been lost for hours. Mia immediately took out the first-aid kit from their backpack, while Leo used branches to make a splint for Mr. Johnson’s ankle. As they helped him, the hiker shared his knowledge of forest landmarks, pointing out a distant mountain peak visible through the trees. “That peak always faces east,” he said, “so if we head opposite, we’ll reach the village before dark.”
With the hiker getting better, Mia and Leo knew they had to find a way out. They supported Mr. Johnson between them, following his directions through the increasingly dim forest. The trio relied on the mountain peak as their compass, chatting about Mr. Johnson’s butterfly studies to ease their nerves. When they finally spotted the village’s faint lights, Mia and Leo felt a rush of relief and joy. The villagers, who had started a search party, cheered as the three emerged from the woods. That night, as Mia and Leo lay in bed, they realized the forest’s danger had taught them more than survival — it had shown them the power of courage and kindness, turning a scary adventure into a story of hope.
