Harms of killing sharks
If shark numbers drop too low, how does it bring danger to all ocean life
If shark numbers drop too low, how does it bring danger to all ocean life
What if sharks disappeared
What if sharks disappeared
Tips
algae 海藻
sunlight
oxygen 氧气
ill fishes
You see, sharks survive by feeding on smaller fishes that feed on the smallest fish. And a lot of these smallest fish love to eat algae sailing on top of the ocean. So if sharks disappear out of this food chain, then the population of smaller fish will grow rapidly which will then feed on the algae-eating fishes to a point they might go extinct too. Then, with no one to clean up the algae, it will flourish and might even cover the ocean obstructing the sunlight to enter the water. And as direct sunlight is how corals get their oxygen, without it, they won’t be able to survive, leading to loss of habitat and eventually resulting in the mass extinction of many marine species.
Another way sharks help the aquatic system is by feeding on the weak or ill members of marine life. Yes, that’s because if these weak and ill members continue to thrive, it will weaken the larger population by potentially spreading illness to the other marine animals.
Plus, when these weaker members of the species reproduce, it weakens the genetic make up of the new generation, putting them at risk of extinction.
Environmental protection groups around the world, such as WildAid and the WWF, are teaching the public about “finning”. They have even asked governments to develop laws to stop the sale of shark fins. So far, no scientific studies have shown that shark fins are good for health, so why eat them Help save the sharks!
