1. not only… but also…意为 “不但…而且…”
遵循一下三个原则:
(a)并列原则,连接两个并列成分,其中also可以省略。
(b) 临近原则:not only…but also..连接两个主语时,
谓语动词在人称和数上要与but also 的主语保持一致。

(c) 倒装原则:not only…but also…连接两个并列分句时, not only 置于句首,表示强调,其引导的句子要用部分倒装,即将谓语动词的一部分(情态动词,助动词等)放在句子的前面,而but also后的句子用正常语序。

receive 还有“接到;收到”的意思,与get 同义,其后可接介词 from。

hear from sb.
receive "收到",强调客观上收到这一事实,不表明是否愿意接受。
accept “接受”, 主动地或自愿地接受,带有“满意;同意;认可”等意味,其反义词为refuse。(refuse to do sth.)

prevent v. 阻止;阻挠

stop / keep / prevent sb. from doing三者都表示“阻止某人做某事”的意思”, 一般情况下可以通用。用法上的差别:
在主动式中, stop sb. from doing sth.和prevent sb. from doing sth.中的from可以省略, 但 keep sb. from doing sth. 中的from不能省略,因为keep sb. doing sth. 意思为让某人一直做某事。
