Ability Objectives 1. Train the students’ skill of finding answers by skimming and scanning. 2.Students can use the new words to talk about healthy diet.
Emotional Objectives Learn about what we should eat to ]have a balanced diet. Enhance students’ sense of forming good eating habits.
Learning Key Points 1.Students are able to understand the general meaning of the passage. 2.The mastery of the new words , phrases.

Step1:Greeting and Lead-in Good morning,boys and girls. T:What did you do just now S:Do morning exercises. T:Why do you do morning exercise every day S:To be healthy. T:Great! In fact,besides doing exercise,we should have a balanced diet to keep healthy.Today our topic is healthy diet. Listen to the teacher carefully and answer questions.
Aims:Combine the article with students’ life to rouse students' interest and lead students get familiar with the topic.
Step2:Pre-reading 1.Guessing games Use the PPT to give some hints and ask students to guess what the names of the food are. Pair work: 2.Present a series of questions about diet. Students in pairs to discuss the problems. ①What do you usually have for breakfast ②What kind of vegetables do you like ③What’s your favourite food Play the tape. Listen to the teacher carefully and guess what the names of the food are. Then work in pairs to discuss the problems. Review the new words.
Aims:Review the news words and get ready for the text.
Step 3:While-reading Skim and scan: Finish the exercise in Before you read part by skimming, predicting and concluding. Page 82 Careful-reading: Read the passage again carefully. 1.Finish first group dialogue: Samuel’s order for dinnerDoris’s order for dinner a hamburger,some chocolate cake and a large cola a chicken sandwich, a salad, an apple and a glass of lemon tea unhealthy—too much fat, oil and sugar healthy—less oil, fat and sugar, some vegetables, fruit and bread
Read 10th line to 15th line and fill the diagram 2.What is a balanced diet

S:Read quickly and to catch the information needed by skimming, predicting and concluding. S:Read and grasp information. Fill the diagram.
Step 4:Post-reading Discuss: Discuss with your partner and write down your opinion. Share it in front of the classroom.
Step5:Practice and Consolidation S:Finish exercise quickly to consolidate the vocabulary we have learned. Find students to tell the main idea of the passage to consolidate.
Aims:Check whether students master the new words and phrases or not.
