Most people are in a rush nearly all the time. This rushing has a name “hurry sickness”. People with hurry sickness often feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day to complete everything. Rushing often leads to mistakes and then it takes even more time to fix them in the long run. Hurry sickness can make people feel tired and unhappy.
“There’s so much we miss when we rush,” says Amy Arthur. “Slowing down helps us see more.” Slowing down helps us enjoy things more. It can even make you a better friend because you can take your time to notice how others are feeling. Studies show slowing down helps us think clearly and find new ideas to work out problems.
It’s not always easy to slow down when you have lots to do. If this happens, Arthur recommends giving yourself plenty of time for each task. So, how can you develop a stronger sense of purpose in our daily life Joshanloo suggests understanding and practicing the theory of “Purpose As Trait, Habit, and State” (PATHS). At the trait level, a sense of purpose can be viewed as an overall life goal. At the habit level, it involves engaging in daily, purposeful behaviors. And at the state level, it describes the moment-to-moment feeling that one’s actions are meaningful. Therefore, start with small actions.
To practice this “bottom-up” approach, you can start by adding small, meaningful activities into your daily routine. Instead of stressing big life goals, try engaging in enjoyable activities, like taking up a new hobby whether it’s drawing, cooking, or something else. These small, meaningful actions can gradually build a stronger sense of purpose.
In summary, shaping your personality may be not that difficult. By making easy changes in your daily life and developing a sense of purpose, you can take meaningful steps toward personal growth.
