Everyone has a hero in his or her heart. The hero in my heart is Yuan Longping because he was one of the world’s greatest scientists.
As a young man，he saw that many Chinese people suffered from hunger, so he dreamed of developing better rice plants. He started work after he received his degree in 1953. Though more than 3000 of his experiments failed at first, Yuan Longping had a strong will. Whatever happened, he never gave up. Finally, he developed new kinds of rice plants, including one that produces 30% more rice than normal. His rice is grown in over 60 countries now. He helped millions of people stop worrying about hunger, so he was a true hero.
He is simply a good role model. To learn from him, I decide to try to do my best to keep learning. No matter what happens, I will never give up my dream of being an astronaut.

My parents had to go away on business for a few days, so I needed to stay at home alone. That was a special experience for me.
At first, I was happy because I was so bored with their orders that I wished they would leave me alone. As soon as I got home from school the first day，I happily threw my school bag on the sofa and ate lots of snacks. Then I played computer games until midnight. I was so crazy about the game that the next morning I woke up late. Without doubt, I was late for school and I couldn't hand in my homework. I felt tired and sleepy at school all day long. That made me feel awful. When I got home, I tried to cook some simple meals, but I burnt them. Then I realised that being home alone is not easy. At that time, although I wanted mum and dad to come home soon, I tried my best to cook and tidy up.
When my parents came home, they were happy to find that I could take good care of myself now. I think it was simply a good chance for me to learn to do things on my own.

Huangguoshu Waterfall is the biggest waterfall in China and it is also one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world. It is in Anshun, Guizhou, 137 km away from Guiyang. People will be surprised at how big it is: 77.8 metres high and 101 metres wide. Its loud sound can even be heard miles away. People can choose to take a bus, a train or a plane to get there. Every year, especially in summer, a large number of tourists from China and abroad visit it.

Hello, everyone! This is my favourite photo. It was taken when I first took part in school table tennis competition. In the picture, I’m getting ready to play. I look very careful.
To tell the truth, I liked playing table tennis, but I was afraid to play in the competition. My friends encouraged me to have a try. At last, I agreed. I practiced so hard for the competition that I won the first prize in the end. From the experience I learn that nothing is impossible if you put your heart into it.

Pollution is our great enemy, and we have to fight it. That’s because the less pollution we cause, the better environment we will have. If we want a clean world for our grandsons and granddaughters, there are three ways to do it: reduce, reuse and recycle.
The first step is to use less. We should avoid wasting things. For example, before we buy something new, think whether it is really necessary. The second is to use things as long as pared with using paper cups and plastic bags, it is better to use china cups and cloth bags. Besides, although it takes energy to change things into something else, it is better than throwing things away or burning them. For example, we can divide our rubbish into plastic, paper, rubber and glass. Finally, we can draw up/develop a recycling policy for our community as well.
If everyone starts to do something, the world will be saved. We can't hope for rapid change but every little bit helps! Let’s start taking action now.
