There is always the danger that a gift given to Mama will bounce back to me. If I buy her something to wear, it turns out to fit me perfectly. Papa stopped trying to shop for Mama long ago. On Mother’s Day or her birthday, he composes a short poem. Papa is not a good poet, but Mama doesn’t mind. She says, “It doesn’t have to rhyme (押韵) as long as it’s from the heart.”
This year, finally, I think I have found a wonderful gift for Mama. I am going to give her an article, unrhymed but from the heart, in which I wish her “Happy Mother’s Day” and tell her that her love is priceless.
