A new study published in Journal of Traditional Beverages found that daily moderate tea drinking can lower cortisol(皮质醇) by up to 18% and reduce work-related tiredness by 25% among office workers. The finding suggests that tea can be a simple vet effective way to relieve stress in fast-paced urban life. However, many city residents struggle to brew(冲泡) quality tea due to limited experience, which makes it difficult to fully enjoy these benefits.
The key to brewing perfect tea consistently lies in smart tea crewing systems. These systems are equipped with sensors that monitor water temperature, tea brewing time, and water volume, transmitting real-time data to a mobile app. Users recerve instant alerts, such as“Water temperature is higher than the best range for green tc a or“Brewing time is sufficient,” making it easy even for beginners to master tea brewing. “Technology bridges the gap between busy urban life and the slow enjoyment of traditional tea,” explains Dr. Min Li, lead researcher of the study.
One well-known system, TeaSmart, has gained popularity in 10 major cities since pared with traditional brewing methods—— where improper temperature often wastes 30% of tea leaves——TeaSmart delivers precise conditions, increasing tea leaf utilization(利用率) by 60%. User surveys indicate that 85% of TeaSmart users maintain the habit of daily tea drinking after six months, while only 40% of those using traditional teapots do so.
Though smart systems simplify tea brewing, experts stress that patience and sensory experience remain vital. “Tea tasting is about observing the color of the tea soup and smelling its fragrance,”notes Dr. Li. “Even with technology, interacting with tea itself is part of the charm.” This combination of innovation and tradition makes tea drinking a rewarding routine for city residents.
28. Why do many city residents find it hard to brew quality tea
A. They lead a fast-paced life.
B. They struggle to make a living.
C. They are short of professional tools.
D. They are inexperienced in brewing tea.
29. How do smart tea-brewing systems assist beginners
A. By promoting their tea brewing skills.
B. By providing live data to a mobile app.
C. By shortening the time of tea brewing.
D. By adjusting water temperature in time.
30. What is the author's purpose in mentioning TeaSmart
A. To improve tea leaf utilization.
B. To keep the habit of drinking tea.
C. To compare it with traditional brewing.
D. To prove the advantages of smart systems.
31. What can be a suitable title for the text
A. Smart Brewing: Enhancing the Fragrance of Tea
B. Smart Brewing: Replacing Traditional Tea Brewing
C. Smart Brewing: Simplifying the Steps of Tea Brewing
D. Smart Brewing: Bridging Urban Life and Tea Enjoyment

Scientists say they have successfully reproduced corals to improve their resistance (抵抗力) to warmer ocean temperatures. The latest effort seeks to prevent major coral destruction events known as bleaching, which is caused by climate change. Coral bleaching happens when the small ocean animals react to climate pressures by releasing algae organisms that provide them with energy and give them their color. If the bleaching is severe and long-lasting, corals can get sick and die.
The latest research aimed to reproduce corals that can become more resistant to warm ocean temperatures. To do this, the researchers used a method known as selective breeding (培育). This process can produce animals and plants that are better able to deal with, or tolerate, different environmental conditions. Selective breeding is now a main method used by scientists to study how the process can prevent ocean warming from killing off corals.
The research team carried out selective breeding tests involving two ditterent characteristics. The first sought to improve the tolerance to the release of a short, intense heat event-over 10 days with a temperature rise of 3.5℃. The second tested results for a less intense, but long-term temperature rise of 2.5℃ over one month.
The study found that“selecting parent groups for high rather than low heat tolerance increased the tolerance of adult offspring(后代)” The result was observed for corals experiencing either a short, intense heat event or a long-term temperature rise.
Newcastle researcher Liam Lachs helped lead the study. He said in a statement that selective breeding can be a valuable tool in improving the health of corals influenced by warming oceans. However, he noted the tested methods are not a complete solution and that“more research is needed to maximize” breeding results. The researchers said they plan next to lead efforts to carry out large experiments on corals to confirm the study results. These efforts would involve seeding selectively bred corals directly on ocean reefs, or using corals raised in a laboratory.
32. How does the author present the issue in the first paragraph
A. By defining a concept. B. By quoting an expert.
C. By making comparison. D. By giving examples.
33. What is the main purpose of selective breeding
A. To remove dead corals. B. To breed diverse corals.
C. To produce tolerant corals. D. To resist invasive plants.
34. What can we conclude from the study
A. No pains, no gains.
B. Like father. like son.
C. It's never too late to mend.
D. Rome wasn't built in a day.
35. What does Liam Lachs think of the research
A. Rewarding but costly. B. Successful and perfect.
C. Promising but incomplete. D. Satisfactory and beneficial.

Finn threw his backpack onto the kitchen counter, glaring at the writing assignment:“Write about a family story that changed you.” For as long as he could remember, his mom Claire had always been“too busy”. She was always rushing to meetings. She'd missed his middle school graduation, his first band performance, and even forgot his birthday last year.
“Finn, dinner is almost ready! I' ve got a client meeting, Claire called from the hallway, already halfway out the door. Finn rolled his : res—— the same excuse. He walked upstairs, but instead of starting homework, he found himself staring at an old wooden box on top of his mom's closet. She'd always kept it locked, never talking about what was inside. But today it was unlocked. Curiosity took over.
He carefully pulled the box down. Inside were dozens of sketchbooks (素描本) filled with amazing drawings: cityscapes at dawn, lifelike portraits, and a detailed sketch of Paris's cole desBeaux-Arts—— one of the world's top art schools. Then he found a sealed letter, postmarked years ago, addressed to“Claire Reynolds” with“ cole des Beaux-Arts” on the front.
Beneath the letter was a worn diary. The first entry:“September 3,2002—— Finn’ s first bad fever. My art school acceptance letter came. But he's crying for me. I can't leave him. Paris will await.” Another:“ May 10,2005—— Finn’ s bike broke. He’ s heartbroken. I said we can’ t afford a new one, but I' ll take extra shifts at the cafe. He' ll never know I gave up my dream for his smile.” Tears spilled down Finn's cheeks. He'd thought she didn't care, but she'd sacrificed her art career for him. Then a memory clicked:“Her birthday is only three days away.” And he wondered what special gift he could prepare for her— something that would show he'd finally seen all her quiet love.

1.续写词数应为150左右;

第四部分写作(共两节,满分40分)
第一节应用文写作(满分15分)
One possible version:
How to Live a Low- Carbon Life
As we all know, human activities contribute to the release of p enhouse gases and pose a serious threat to the environment. A low- carbon life, therefore, is no longer a choice but a duty.
I start with small steps. Every morning I ride my bike to school, which cuts down CO emissions compared with taking a taxi. Instead of a plastic bottle, I often carry a reusable metal one, so no plastic waste ends up in the dustbin. When I'm the last one to leave the classroom, I would switch off lights and the air- conditioner to save energy.
What the planet really needs is that millions of ordinary people do one low- carbon thing every single day.Let's take action and warm the earth less but people's hearts more
第二节读后续写(满分25分)
One possible version:
Paragraph 1:
Staring at the di:, he came up with an idea. He would turn his mom's hidden story into the writing assignment— and a gift. Rushing to his desk, he pulled out paper and began to write, weaving the diary entries into a heartfelt story: her art school dream, the nights she took extra shifts, every sacrifice she'd made for him. He also dug out the sketchbooks, carefully picking a few of her best drawings— including the Paris sketch— to tape beside his words. By midnight, he finally finished the story, knowing this"story" would say more than any ordinary gift ever could.
Paragraph 2:
Finn presented the story on Mom's birthday. Claire froze when she read the story, her fingers brushing the
Paris sketch gently. As she read Finn's words, tears welled up, spilling down her cheeks.“I…I never told you,” she whispered, voice shaky. Finn hugged her tightly.“I know now, Mom. Thank you for choosing me.” Claire pulled him closer, reaching the final line— where Finn had drawn a tiny heart next to the words,“Your dream still matters.”They sat there for a long time, the soft glow of the lamp wrapping them in a quiet, warm moment that felt like it would last forever.

Text 10
Good morning, everyone. I am pleased to be here to give a talk. Every year, we throw away millions of tons of clothes. However, many of them are still in good condition. Some may just be a little worn out, or missing one or two buttons. This has become a serious problem for our environment.
Why does this happen One reason is that fast fashion makes people buy cheap clothes and wear them only a few times. Another reason is that many people lack awareness of recycling, so a lot of clothes are simply thrown away. What can we do to change this First, we should buy fewer clothes and make them last longer. Second, we can mend old clothes instead of throwing them away. Third, we should donate clothes we no longer need, so that others can use them.
Clothing waste is not only about fashion, but also about our planet. Let's take action together to reduce waste and protect the environment. That's all for my talk. Thank you for listening.
