Last year, I had the chance to visit the Amazon Rainforest in Peru. It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life.
The Amazon Rainforest is the largest tropical rainforest in the world, covering a huge area of South America. When we arrived, we were greeted by the sound of birds singing and monkeys calling. The air was thick with humidity and the smell of plants. We stayed in a small eco-lodge deep in the forest, which was powered by solar energy.
During our stay, we went on several guided tours. One morning, we took a boat trip along the Amazon River. We saw pink dolphins swimming in the water, colorful birds flying above, and even a family of jaguars resting on the riverbank. Our guide told us that the rainforest is home to millions of species of plants and animals, many of which are not found anywhere else in the world.
Another day, we went hiking through the forest. The trail was covered with leaves and roots, and we had to walk carefully to avoid slipping. We saw giant trees that were hundreds of years old, exotic flowers, and insects of all shapes and sizes. Our guide pointed out medicinal plants that the local people have used for centuries.
We also visited a nearby indigenous village. The villagers welcomed us warmly and showed us their way of life. They taught us how to make traditional crafts and cook local food. We learned about their customs and beliefs, which are closely connected to the rainforest.
Before leaving, I realized how important the Amazon Rainforest is to our planet. It produces a large amount of the world’s oxygen and helps regulate the climate. However, it is also under threat from deforestation and pollution. I hope that more people will realize its value and work to protect it.

C. Giraffes. D. Pandas.
