Chen Junhang, a 15-year-old student at Huian No.3 Middle School in Fujian, learns programming(编程) to make the lives of others easier. He has taken his own journey into programming and artificial intelligence(人工智能) without any traditional education in the subjects.
His interest in coding began in the third grade when he won the first place in a contest. This experience made him excited about coding, leading him to compete in the first Huian County Robotics Competition.
“Wanting to learn more, I started studying programming on my own by buying books,” Chen said. He began with graphical programming and quickly moved on to languages like C and Java.
When generative AI became popular, Chen found new ways to use AI for different tasks, like writing articles and planning class activities. “For math problems, I asked AI for step-by-step solutions,” he shared.
One of Chen’s biggest achievements is an evaluation system he created for his mother, a primary school teacher. This system creates comments for students based on certain keywords. It picks the right words to create clear evaluations, saving his mother time and effort.
Looking ahead, Chen wants to develop AI software that talks with users. “It would start conversations, greet users when they turn on their computers and offer help.” he said. However, creating such a system is challenging, especially when trying to figure out how to communicate without being annoying.
49. How did Chen start learning programming

Making new friends isn’t easy. It can be difficult to know what to talk about, so we choose safe topics like the weather, music or books. These conversations are polite but often feel empty and don’t usually lead to a real friendship. But what if there was a way to feel close to someone much faster
Research shows there may be a quicker way to build strong connections—by asking deep, thought-provoking questions. This idea first appeared in the late 1990s, when scientists created something called the fast-friends steps. In these studies, strangers were asked to discuss personal topics such as “What would a perfect day be like for you ” or “What item would you save first if your house was on fire ” After talking for just 45 minutes, participants(参与者) said they felt surprisingly close and some even stayed in touch after the study ended.
Then in 2024, researchers in the Netherlands wondered if this way could also work to improve the relationships between parents and their children. During this experiment, parents spoke with their children, but instead of common small talks, parents asked more meaningful questions such as “What’s the strangest thing you have ever experienced ” or “When was the last time you felt alone ” Before and after the talks, the children completed a short questionnaire about how loved and supported they felt. Even after just nine minutes of conversation, the children’s scores increased greatly, showing that these meaningful questions helped them feel closer to their parents.
Psychologists say the reason asking deep questions helps us to connect with others is because of something called “self-disclosure”. When we open up and share our personal thoughts and feelings, this creates feelings of closeness. Maybe building a close bond with someone doesn’t always take years. Sometimes, it can start in just a few minutes.
52. Which question would you use to build a real friendship with others
A. Did you catch the weather this morning It’s freezing cold.

For many years, scientists have doubted whether Venus(金星) could have supported life since it formed 4.6 billion years ago. A new study suggests it probably has never been a place where life could live.
Venus, which is our closest neighbor, is sometimes called “Earth’s evil twin.” The planets(行星) are similar in size and made of the same materials. But Venus is called “evil” because it is the hottest planet in our solar system, with an average surface temperature of nearly 932℉. It also has the most volcanoes(火山) in our solar system and is covered with thick clouds of acid.
Some scientists believe Venus might have once had oceans on its surface. If it’s true, it would be an important sign of life on Venus because water is completely necessary to the development of life. To test this, a team of scientists from the University of Cambridge, in the UK, carefully studied this planet’s atmosphere(大气层). Volcanoes send out gases from deep inside. Those gases end up in a planet’s atmosphere, and studying them can tell where they came from and what’s under the surface. On Earth, which has a lot of water inside, volcanoes give off mostly vapor(水蒸气).
The team carried out research on what the atmosphere on Venus is made of and found out that it had very little water—only 6% at most. These “dry” eruptions(喷发) show that the inside of Venus has very little water. From this, the scientists concluded that Venus probably never had oceans and difficult for living. “Since it probably never had oceans, it is hard to imagine Venus ever having supported Earth-like life, which needs liquid water,” said Tereza Constantinou, the study’s lead author.
The results of the Cambridge study and future research could help scientists learn more about the possibility of life on other planets. “If Venus was never fit for life, then it makes Venus-like planets less likely to have conditions that can support life.” Constantinou said.
56. How does the writer begin the passage
A. By asking a question. B. By listing valuable facts.
C. By showing the study result. D. By describing information.
57. Why is Venus sometimes called “Earth’s evil twin”
A. It is covered with thick clouds of acid like Earth.
B. It has the same size and rich materials as other planets.
C. It might have once had oceans and gases on its surface for life.
D. It’s the hottest Earth’s neighbor in similar size with the most volcanoes.
58. Why did scientists study gases from volcanoes
A. Volcanoes send out most of vapor.
B. Gases can tell what’s under the ground.
C. Water is necessary to the development of life.
D. Venus has the most volcanoes in our solar system.
59. What does “it” in Paragraph 4 refer to(指的是)
A. Inside of Venus. B. Gas from Venus.
C. Atmosphere of Venus. D. Volcano from Venus.
60. What’s the meaning of the results of the Cambridge study
A. Finding proper conditions to support life.
B. Proving possible signs of life on other planets.

If you find the idea of voicing your opinions in front of others a bit scary at first, don’t worry because many people do. Finding your voice helps you feel strong and it also inspires(鼓舞) others.
What does finding your voice mean
Finding your voice means building up the confidence to speak up and share your ideas. Being together in lessons, sports teams or any group activity is a chance to ask questions and exchange ideas with each other. To join in, you need to speak in front of other people, which isn’t always easy. When you put up your hand, everyone’s attention is on you—and you take the risk of saying something awkward or wrong. You may feel worried about this. Most people get nervous about doing things they find challenging.
What are the advantages
If you’re in a lesson, speaking up is a chance to ask questions and share your thoughts. It also means you’re getting involved in active learning. This is when pupils work together to share ideas and solve problems. As well as making lessons more fun, studies show that active learning helps you understand more clearly and get better results in tests. Finding the strength to speak up also means you’re sharing your ideas, which could inspire someone else and give them the confidence to speak up too.
How can I feel more confident
Author and confidence coach Tiwalola Adebayo says that finding your voice means facing fear bravely. “Fear is simply a negative(消极的) thought of something in the future that hasn’t happened yet,” she explains. “If you’re not sure something will go right,” she asks, “how can you be sure it will go wrong ” Another way to feel more confident is to speak to yourself kindly. You might tell yourself not to put your hand up in class because you’ll get the answer wrong and people will laugh at you. However, “You would never say that to a friend, so don’t say it to yourself either,” Adebayo says. “You are just as worthy of all the love and encouragement you give to your friends.”
Finding your voice
Definition Finding your voice means being 86 to speak up and share ideas in any group activity. It isn’t easy to speak in front of the other people because you may find it 87 to say something awkward or wrong with everyone’s attention on you. most people might feel nervous when they do something 88 .

One possible version:
The most important person in life
On the journey of my growth, there are many people who have cared about me and helped me. The most important one is my primary school art teacher.
She is really kind and patient, always ready to help anyone in need. Once, we had to draw an autumn tree for homework. I tried many times, but the leaves looked messy and the trunk was not straight. I felt so upset that I wanted to throw the paper away. She saw me and came over gently. She sat beside me, showed me how to draw soft leaf edges, and even held my hand a little to fix the trunk. With her help, I finally finished a nice autumn tree.
From her, I learned that being patient and not giving up easily can fix hard things. I’ll always remember her warmth and what she taught me.
