Long ago, when the God first planted a tree in the garden, it was full of energy and kept moving. Then the God pulled the tree out and planted it upside down to make sure it stayed in one place. What's the tree It’s the baobab, also called the monkey bread tree or the bottle tree.
The baobab is a strange looking tree that grows in Africa and Australia, Just like its name “the bottle tree” , it looks like a large bottle. Some grow as tall a 16-floor building. During the dry season, these trees are standing there without leaves, and look like trunk (树干) sticking up in the air. But when the rainy season comes, leaves appear and then flowers come out. Later, the flowers can turn into fruit.
It is also called “the tree of life”, because it can live longer than 1, 000 years old. In the dry land, the tree can hold 1, 000 gallons of water. Thirsty people can drink the water stored in the tree. The fruit, monkey bread, is good to eat. Leaves are a kind of medicine. People can use the bark (树皮) to make paper or cloth. When a tree gets old, its trunk becomes hollow. An old tree can hold many people. The local people often build their houses inside these trunks. It is such a useful tree that some people could hardly live without it.

Are you an “I” person or an “E” person People have talked about it a lot online these days. The ideas come from a popular personality(性格) test called MBTI. It tests the personality in eight ways. Each way uses a letter to show the meaning. For example, letter “I”means you are shy and letter “E” means you are outgoing. After the test, each person will get a four - letter result to show the personality. In all, there are sixteen kinds of personality in the test.
Why do people want to take the people take the MBTI test Most people take the MBTI test for fun, but some don't. Here are the survey results from three people by Life Week magazine.
“People want to learn about themselves and others,” Guo Yongyu, an expert told the magazine. “When they know themselves and others better, they can learn to be with others. That helps them feel more relaxed.”
Gao Yanyi, a middle school student from Shanxi, thinks that the MBTI test can help her find friends with similar MBTI results with her quickly. She adds, “But that should not be the only way to find friends. Sometimes it could make me lose possible good friends with different kinds of MBTI.”
Ma Ruina, from Beijing No.4 Middle school, took the test once. He doesn’t want to use it in his life again. It made him feel like it’s limiting (限制) how people can be, as if there were only 16 kinds of people in the world. “Everyone is different, and it’s not right to put people into simple groups.” he says.
It can be sure that sixteen kinds of MBTI personality can never tell all the possibilities. I have to say, the personality test is just for fun. Everyone’s personality is different. Don’t let the test tell you who you are.
In how many ways does MBTI test each person’s personality
A.1. B. 4. C. 8. D.16.

25. What does the writer think of MBTI
A. He thinks people can do it for fun.
B. He really agrees with the results.
C. He expects more people to take it.
D. He thinks it's necessary and useful.
26. What would be the best title for the passage
A.16 Kinds of Personalities B. MBTI - A New Test for Students
Don't Be an“I”Person! D. MBTI - Just for Fun or Truly Useful
D
Why do some people eat too much Is it because they’re hungry Or is there a scientific explanation Read this passage, and you will find the answers.
There are a number of ideas to explain overeating. One factor(因素) is the time of the day. “It’s all part of life habits,” says Randy Seeley, a famous expert. “You’re hungry at noon because that’s the time you’ve eaten lunch for the past 100 days.” Another reason we may eat more than necessary is that the body needs a salt and sugar balance. This is why people “make room for dessert”- to meet their wish for sugar.
Overeating can also be a question of biological factors. For example, your body temperature can tell your brain that you feel hungry. “Your body temperature drops when it’s time to eat, and eating warms you up,” says Gina Harlow, a teacher. Also, the smell of certain foods can make us imagine the pleasure of eating them, Harlow adds, “If you love French fries, smelling them will make you want to eat them because you know how good they are. And that can lead to eating too much.”
So, the next time you know you’ve eaten too much, don’t worry about it. You know eating is a must, and then you may eat too much. And you can always blame it on science.
27. Why are you hungry at noon according to Seeley
A. Because I am terribly hungry.
B. Because it’s a part of life habits.
C. Because I need a salt and sugar balance.
D. Because I smell my favourite food.
28. What is the structure(结构) of this passage
A. ①/②③/④ B. ①/②③④ C. ①②③/④ D. ①②/③④
29. What does the passage mainly tell us
A. We can’t eat too much.
B. Overeating is bad for health.
C. It doesn’t matter if we eat more.
D. There are some ideas to explain overeating.
30. In which section of a magazine can you read the text
A. Health and sports. B. History and culture.
C. Science and technology. D. Population and the environment.

Hi, everyone. I agree that “A friend is a second self." It means that a true friend is similar to you. You understand each other and share similar hobbies and interests.
Take my friend. Sophie, as an example. Sophie and I have many things in common. For example, we both love playing the violin. She plays the violin better than do because she practices harder . From Sophie, I learn about the spirit of working harder. She always tells me, "If you try your best, you can get better.”
All in all, for me, a friend is like a mirror - they show what you look like and help you grow.
That's all. Thank you.
