“Drip...drip...drip...”(滴答)
The sound was a tiny, persistent drumbeat in the quiet of the kitchen. For a week, it had been Mark's constant companion during his breakfast. He'd learned to tune it out, just like the pile of schoolbooks on the desk.
One evening, his father came home from work, set his bag down, and headed straight for the kitchen sink. He didn't sigh heavily or complain about the water bill. Instead, he laid out a small toolkit, a shiny new washer, and a bucket on the floor.
“Assistant needed,” he announced, looking directly at Mark.
Mark rolled his eyes quietly. Homework was waiting. But he dragged a chair over and watched. His father didn't just quickly fix it. He showed Mark how to turn off the water valves(阀)under the sink, explaining why it was the first and most important step.
“Always know where your 'off swvitch' is, son. For anything," he said, his voice calm.
Then,he carefully took apart the faucet(水龙头)handle, letting Mark see the rusty,worn-out washer inside. "See this A small thing, broken. But it's the source of all that noise and waste. Fix the small thing, and you solve the big annoyance."
He let Mark place the new, flexible washer into the groove(凹槽).Together, they settled everything. When his father turned the water back on, Mark held his breath. He turned the handle. The drip was gone. The kitchen was peacefully, wonderfully silent.
His father wiped his hands on a rag. "Some problems aren't meant to be ignored, Mark. They're little invitations to learn something new."
Mark looked at the tidy toolbox and the silent sink. He realized his father hadn't just fixed a leaky faucet. He had shown him that being a man wasn't about being loud or strong, but about having the quiet competence to face a problem, understand its parts, and make it right. It was a lesson no textbook could ever teach.
24. What was Mark's response when his father asked for an assistant
A. He unwillingly helped his father.
B. He refused to help for heavy schoolwork.

D. He immediately started doing his homework.

A. Mark had a habit of ignoring his homework.
B. The water bill would become a great problem.

D. He was criticizing Mark for not fixing the faucet earlier.
26.Which words best describe the father

27.Which of the following is the best title for the passage
A.The Sound of Silence B.My Father,My Teacher

C(必修一 U1 Lifestyles)
Reaching for phones upon waking, standing in the same point on the station, enjoying a sweet treat after the evening meal-we all have habits that shape our lives. The majority of our daily actions are performed automatically, according to our new study.
How much of our day-to-day lives are shaped by habit We sent cues (提示)to the phones of 105 participants aged 18-73 years old, six times a day over one week. Each cue asked four questions: what were they doing How unconsciously was it initiated To what extent was it performed automatically And how much had they wanted to do it The prompts(提示信息)showed, whether working, studying, or doing household chores, that 65% of actions started out of habit, 88% on autopilot. This suggests that around two-thirds of our daily decisions are automated.
However, this does not mean that we simply act mindlessly, without awareness or free wwill. We would not apply the effort needed to repeatedly do these actions if they served no purpose. Our habits align with our goals. We may reach for our phones automatically, but that can help us stay informed. We might instinctively stand in the same spot on the platform, but that may help us find a seat on the train.
Habits are adaptive. We have limited mental resources at any one time. If we had to deliberate over all our routine decisions each day- like when to have a shower-we would have less capacity to focus on more important matters, like preparing for the upcoming presentation in the day. In fact, deliberating over actions usually done habitually can backfire. One 2017 study showed that when motivated to peform effectively, participants tended to avoid relying on their habits and engage in more mindful performance. Ironically, people who chose to think twice performed worse than those who acted habitually.
Habits are not, therefore, the enemy of free will. In fact, they can make life easier. What needs our attention is that the downside of habits appears when they stop serving our goals.
28.How does the author introduce his topic
A.By analyzing facts. B.By giving examples.
C.By imagining stories. D.By showing classifications.
29.What do the underlined words “align with”mean
A. Go against. B.Depend on.
C.Break away from. D.Fall in line with.
30.What is the primary benefit of habits
A.They require more mindful performance.
B. They enhance creativity for important tasks.
C. They conserve our limited mental resources.
D.They improve the quality of our daily decisions.
31.What may the passage talk about next
A.How to form a good habit. B.How to get rid of bad habits.
C.Examples of habits' drawbacks. D.More benefits of habitual actions.
D(必修二 U4 Information Technology)
Across the U.S., human therapy access is harder than ever-high costs, few licensed therapists, and limited insurance. Faced with this gap, many turn to AI tools like ChatGPT for emotional support.
For example, 32-year-old Kristen Johansson, a mom, relied on the same therapist for five years to cope with her mother's death, divorce, and childhood trauma(创伤).But when the therapist stopped taking insurance, her $30 personal cost for each session jumped to $275. Even when the therapist charged less, she still couldn't afford it. Six months later, Johansson used ChatGPT daily-paying $20 monthly to remove time limits-and found it helpful in ways humans weren't.
One key reason AI mental health tools are popular is accessibility. Unlike human therapists, who have long waitlists and fixed session times, AI chatbots are available 24/7. Johansson said she could reach. AI at 2 a.m. after a bad dream-something no therapist offered. Users also value no judgment: AI doesn't rush or make them self-conscious.
Yet experts warn of risks. Dr. Jodi Halpern, a UC Berkeley psychiatrist, noted AI mimics empathy with lines like "I care about you," creating false connection. This makes users form strong attachments, but AI lacks ethical training to handle them. Worse, AI prioritizes engagement over mental health-offering excess reassurance or comfort to keep users. Little regulation exists: AI firms aren't bound by HIPAA, the therapist-patient privacy law. Only one AI therapy bot trial exists, and its product isn't widely used. Tragedies happened, including teens who shared suicidal thoughts with unresponsive AI.
AI leaders are addressing these risks. Sam Altman, CEO of ChatGPT-maker OpenAI,wrote of "tensions between teen safety, freedom and privacy" and said the company prioritizes safety over privacy for minors. Dr. Halpern doesn't want to ban AI-instead, she says it should stick to structured therapies, work with human therapists, and never replace them. The key, she argues,is using AI as a tool, not a substitute for human care.
32.Why does the author mention Kristen Johansson
A.To explain how fast ChatGPT has been developing.
B.To show ChatGPT is affordable than human therapists.
C. To prove ChatGPT is better at treating trauma than humans.
D. To give an example of people tuning to AI for mental health.
33. Which is the major reason for AI mental health tools' popularity
A.They can cure emotional problems.
B. They offer free services to all users.
C. They are available at any time day or night.
D.They are more experienced than human therapists.
34.What risk of AI chatbots does Dr. Jodi Halpern point out
A.They often refuse to help with social anxiety.
B. They share users' data with other companies.
C.They are too hard for older people to operate.
D.They may cause users to form unhealthy attachments.
35.What is the main idea of the passage
A. Patients benefit a lot from AI therapy.
B.People should use AI wisely for mental health.
C.AI chatbots have solved the mental health care gap.
D. Experts advise banning AI chatbots for mental benefits.

The faded poster outside the community center announced a piano competition that aroused something in sixteen-year-old Liam. He had stopped playing after his grandmother's passing a year ago. The piano had been her passion, her gift to him. Now, seeing the announcement, he felt a familiar ache mixed with a strange sense of longing.
That evening, he found himself standing before the old piano in their living room. The dust cover lay folded on a nearby chair, exactly where he had left it a year ago. His fingers trembled as he lifted the fallboard, revealing the yellowed keys that had once felt like an extension of his hands.
He played a scale (音阶),the notes sounding hollow in the silent room. His fingers felt stiff and uncooperative. Frustrated, he was about to close the piano when he noticed an envelope inside the music rack(乐谱架). It was addressed to him in his grandmother's elegant handwriting.
With shaking hands, he opened it. "My dearest Liam," it began. "If you're reading this,it means you've returned to the music. Don't be afraid of the silence between the notes. That's where the truth lives. There's something I never told you: your great-grandfather was a composer. His final work,'Lunar Whisper for the Beloved', was never completed. I've left you the first movement. The rest... well, that's for you to discover.”
Beneath the letter lay sheet music with his grandmother's notes. At the bottom of the page, she had drawn seven stars next to specific notes, with the words:"Follow where these lead you."
