倡议书
假定你是学校英语阅读俱乐部的主席李华。你注意到学校同学们很少阅读英语文学。请用英语给全校同学写一份倡议书,倡导大家多阅读英语文学作品。内容包括:1.介绍现状;2.你对英语文学阅读的看法;3.发出倡议。
Dear schoolmates,
As the president of the English Reading Club, I can’t help but feel regretful when I notice that countless wonderful works of English literature are gathering dust on library shelves, rarely explored by us students. In our daily English learning, we tend to focus on textbooks, exercise papers, and exam skills, while ignoring the rich treasure trove of novels, poems, and plays that could bring us immense benefits.
In my opinion, English literature is far more than just a collection of words—it’s a gateway to understanding different cultures, histories, and human experiences. When we read Shakespeare’s plays, we immerse ourselves in the vivid characters and profound themes of Renaissance England; when we dive into Hemingway’s novels, we feel the courage and resilience of people in challenging times; when we appreciate Wordsworth’s poems, we discover the beauty of nature through delicate descriptions. Beyond cultural enlightenment, reading English literature can significantly improve our language skills. It helps us expand our vocabulary with authentic, expressive words, learn natural sentence structures, and enhance our ability to understand complex texts—all of which are invaluable for exams and real-life communication. Moreover, literary works stimulate our creativity and empathy: they let us see the world from different perspectives, understand the feelings of people from all walks of life, and enrich our inner world.
Therefore, I sincerely call on all schoolmates to embrace English literature. Here are some small steps to start with: visit the school library and pick a book that interests you—whether it’s a classic novel, a light-hearted storybook, or a collection of poems; set aside 20-30 minutes every day for reading, and jot down your favorite sentences or thoughts; join the English Reading Club, where we’ll hold book-sharing sessions, discussions, and reading salons to exchange ideas with like-minded friends.
Let’s open our hearts to English literature. I believe that in the process of reading, we’ll not only improve our English but also find joy, inspiration, and growth. Let’s make reading English literature a part of our daily life and embark on a wonderful journey of language and culture!

你校与同济中学联合举办了 “英文飞鸽传书” 活动,两校学生随机配对,互相交换英文信。请你为本校英文报写一篇报道,内容包括本次活动的目的、过程及反响。
English Letter Exchange: Building Bridges Through Words
Recently, our school joined hands with Tongji Middle School to hold a meaningful activity titled “English Letter Exchange,” which aimed to enrich students’ campus life, improve their English communication skills, and foster friendship between the two schools.
The activity kicked off last month with a simple yet exciting process: students from both schools were randomly paired through an online matching system, ensuring that everyone had the chance to meet a new friend outside their own campus. After receiving their partners’ contact information, students began writing English letters—sharing their daily life, hobbies, study experiences, and even their dreams and worries. Unlike quick online chats, letter writing allowed students to think carefully about their words, express themselves in a more profound way, and practice formal English writing skills. Over the course of four weeks, each pair exchanged two to three letters, with many students adding small gifts like postcards, stickers, or hand-drawn pictures to make their messages more personal. The school also set up a special “Letter Corner” where students could pick up and send their letters, creating a warm and 期待 atmosphere.
The activity received an overwhelming positive response from students of both schools. “I made a good friend from Tongji Middle School who shares the same love for basketball,” said a Grade 10 student. “Writing letters in English helped me overcome my shyness and improve my writing skills—my partner even corrected my small grammar mistakes gently, which was very helpful.” Another student added, “It’s so interesting to learn about the campus life of students from another school. Their traditions and activities are quite different from ours, and it broadened my horizons.” Teachers also praised the activity, noting that it not only enhanced students’ English proficiency but also cultivated their sense of responsibility, patience, and empathy. Many students expressed their hope that the school would hold more such exchange activities in the future, such as online video calls or face-to-face meetings with their letter partners.
This “English Letter Exchange” activity has successfully built a bridge of communication between the two schools. It proves that language is not just a tool for learning, but also a bond for friendship and cultural exchange.
3.建议信
假定你是李华,为了适应英语听力中的英美混合播音,请你给外教 Smith 写一封邮件,对于他的口语课给出针对性的建议。内容包括:
1.写信目的;2. 你的建议。
Dear Mr. Smith,
I’m Li Hua, one of your students in Class 2, Grade 10. I’m writing to share some thoughts and put forward a few suggestions for our oral English lessons, hoping to help us better adapt to the mixed British and American accents in English listening exams and real-life communication.
As you know, most of us have been exposed to either British or American English separately in our previous learning. However, in many important exams like the college entrance exam, as well as in international communication, we often encounter a mix of both accents, which sometimes makes it difficult for us to follow quickly. We believe that your oral English lessons can be a great opportunity for us to get familiar with these different accents, and we would be grateful if you could consider the following suggestions.
First of all, could you introduce some key differences in pronunciation and intonation between British and American English during class For example, the pronunciation of words like “schedule” (/' edju l/ in British vs. /'sked u l/ in American) or “dance” (/dɑ ns/ in British vs. /d ns/ in American), as well as the different intonation patterns in daily conversations. Simple explanations and repeated practice would help us distinguish them more easily. Additionally, we would greatly appreciate it if you could incorporate more materials with mixed accents into our lessons—such as short English news clips (like BBC and CNN), dialogues from movies or TV shows that feature both accents, or fun dubbing videos. Practicing listening to and imitating these materials would make us more comfortable with the switch between accents. Furthermore, could we have some interactive activities, like role-playing conversations using different accents, or guessing which accent a speaker is using This kind of hands-on practice would make learning more engaging and effective.
We truly value your guidance and believe that with these adjustments, our oral English lessons will not only improve our speaking skills but also enhance our listening comprehension of mixed accents. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and consider my suggestions. Looking forward to your valuable feedback and a more rewarding learning experience in your class!
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

A few weeks later, just as I’d almost forgotten about the national writing contest I’d participated in, a sudden phone call from the organizing committee brought unexpected good news—I had won the first prize! The host’s excited voice on the other end informed me that an award presentation ceremony would be held in two days at the city’s cultural center. I was so overwhelmed with joy that I jumped up from my chair, and the first person I wanted to share the news with was my social studies teacher, Mr. Liu. Rushing to his office, I knocked on the door nervously, and when he opened it, I blurted out, “Mr. Liu! I won the first prize in the writing contest!” His eyes lit up immediately, and he patted my shoulder warmly, saying excitedly, “I knew you would! I’ve always believed in your talent—your article was full of sincerity and unique insights. You truly deserve this honor!” His words made my heart feel warm and full, as if all the hard work and doubts had turned into sweet fruits.
Then came the big day of the award presentation. Dressed in my best clothes, I walked into the grand cultural center, my heart pounding with excitement and a touch of nervousness. When my name was called, I took a deep breath and stepped onto the stage, feeling the spotlight on me and the eyes of the audience. As I received the trophy and certificate from the judge, I turned to the microphone and said loudly, “I want to express my deepest thanks to my social studies teacher, Mr. Liu. Before meeting him, writing was just a boring task for me—I hated putting my thoughts into words, and I never thought I had any talent for it. But it was Mr. Liu who discovered my potential. He always encouraged me to write about what I truly felt, to observe the world around me carefully, and to never be afraid of expressing my unique ideas. Whenever I handed in a messy draft, he would patiently point out the strengths and give me constructive suggestions, never letting me feel discouraged. Without his recognition, guidance, and unwavering support, I would have never fallen in love with writing, let alone won this prize. Thank you, Mr. Liu—you’ve changed my life!” Tears of gratitude welled up in my eyes as the audience erupted in warm applause.
After the award presentation, I hurried back to school to find Mr. Liu. He was already waiting for me in his office, with a big smile on his face. As soon as I walked in, he held my hands tightly, his voice filled with pride: “Congratulations, my boy! This is just the beginning—you’re a gifted writer, so never stop writing, never stop expressing yourself.” I nodded firmly, my eyes shining with determination: “Mr. Liu, I used to hate writing, but now it’s become my greatest passion. I promise I’ll keep practicing, keep exploring, and try my best to create more meaningful works.” He patted my head gently, and in his eyes, I saw trust and expectation.
Since then, I have never stopped writing. I kept a diary to record my daily thoughts, wrote articles for school newspapers, and even started working on my first short story. Over the years, I have published many works and gradually become a well-known writer. Whenever someone asks me about the secret of my success, I always think of Mr. Liu—he is like a bright beacon in my life, guiding me out of the darkness of self-doubt and lighting up my path to writing. I will always be grateful for the day he recognized my potential and helped me discover the joy of expressing myself through words.
