Last week, our school organized a class meeting with the theme “Gratitude and Company". The event featured various activities including speeches, thank-you card writing, and group discussions. Students enthusiastically shared their appreciation for parents, teachers and classmates.
This meaningful activity aimed to enhance the bonds between students and others while promoting the value of thankfulness. Through participating in these events, we learned to better understand and respect those around us.
The meeting proved to be both inspiring and educational. I would be delighted to learn about similar practices in your schools. Please share your experiences with us.

第二节
He saw a ladder (梯子)leading to a smnall basement room. After hesitating only a moment, Chuck climbed down, his pulse quickening with each movement. As his feet touched the ground, the beam of light revealed a small, time-capsule-like room filled with relics of the past-yellowed newspapers, an antique typewriter, some carefully arranged artifacts, and most surprisingly, an old-fashioned trunk with his family name carved on the side. It seemed as if the room had been preserved just for this moment.
Feeling like in a museum, Chuck got an idea. He opened his house as a real museum, which served as not only an honor to his father's legacy, but also a perfect guest room for friends who'd once mocked the house. The news spread fast, and he quickly got many visitors. They took photographs, chatted and admired what was shown in front of them. Tears welled in Chuck's eyes. For the first time in years, the old place didn't feel like a burden-it was a gift. “The house wasn't just a stubborn attachment, but a treasure passed down," he thought to himself. Music is a powerful, evidence-based tool for promoting mental health. As one of the most accessible ways to regulate our mental state, it is often underestimated for in its potential. It is time to accept the healing power of music not only in clinical settings, but also in daily life.
We know music can stir emotions, ease nerves and make us cry. But research reveals it can also change the content of our thoughts. In a 2019 study, participants listened to heroic or sad music while their minds wandered. Uplifting music set off energizing and constructive thoughts, while sad music aroused calmer or more demotivating ones.
Our minds frequently wander, with daydreaming occupying nearly half of our waking time. Even pleasant thoughts rarely improve mood significantly. Why Because the brain's default mode network (DMN) supporting imagination, memory and reflection often causes repeated and negative thought circles.
Recent studies indicate that negative daydreams, especially when accompanied by sad music, engage the brain's pain network and the DMN. Certain brain regions help regulate this link. Unsettling thoughts not only cause mental discomfort but also activate the same brain regions responsible for physical pain.
Fortunately, the DMN has a natural counterpart: the control network, supporting focus and goal-directed behaviour. These two systems are anti-correlated, meaning when one is active, the other quiets down. Music, especially when we engage actively can shift us into this adaptive mode, interrupting negative cycles and providing a cognitive(认知的)“reset”. A 2023 study found that people tapping to music felt less physical pain under pressure than passive listeners, boosting pain-reducing effects to a clinically meaningful degree.
If music can do all this, it needs to be recognised as far more than the lifestyle accessory. Music
should be integrated into schools, public health strategies, and daily routines. And music education should be seen as a way to care for the brain and social medicine. Next time your stress begins to bite, try to turn to music instead of the news. Your brain and society might thank you.

Titan, Saturn's largest moon, is blanketed in smog, rich in surface organic molecules(分子).However, its surface is extremely cold, around -179°C, making chemical reactions for life progress very slowly.
Scientists believe a vast liquid ocean, holding 12 times the volume of Earth's oceans combined, exists deep underground where it's warmer. Similar oceans may exist on moons like Jupiter's moons Europa and Ganymede,where there could be liquid water, often suggesting possible life, but researcher Catherine Neish and her team challenge this idea.
Their research suggests that for Titan's ocean to support life, a significant amount of organic molecules from the surface must reach it to start the chemistry needed for life. The main way this could happen is through comet(彗星)impacts. Impacts melt surface ice, creating pools of water mixed with organics. Because liquid water is denser than ice, these pools could sink. However, Neish's models show comet strikes are too infrequent to deliver enough organic material.
Her team estimates only about 7,500 kilograms of simple amino acid(氨基酸)reach Titan's ocean every year. While this sounds substantial, it's equal to the mass of one male African elephant spread across an ocean with a dozen times the voluime of Earth's oceans, truly a drop in the ocean. Even in this most optimistic scenario, there's not enough organics transported into Titan's ocean to sustain life there.
Other possibilities exist, like some hot vents on the seafloor where water meets rock, making all kinds of molecules erupt and set off complex chemical reactions that could support life. Could similar internal sources provide organics on Titan Neish doesn't rule this out, but points out a concern: organics from Titan's interior might be mostly molecules with exceptional stability, which are difficult to transform into essential biological units like amino acids.
While directly exploring these oceans to find lfe is still far off, Neish's research highlights the value of NASA's planned Dragonfly mission to Titan. If Neish is correct, Dragonfly could find sites where comet impacts mixed water and organics, allowing scientists to study prebiological chemistry similar to what led to life on Earth.
