Ieoh Ming Pei, one of the last great modernist architects, was born in Guangzhou, China in 1917 into a wealthy family. His father was a banker. His artistic mother—a calligrapher and musician—had the greater influence on him. Despite not speaking English, he moved to the US at the age of 18 to study at Pennsylvania, MIT and Harvard. He worked as a research scientist for the US government during World War Two, and went on to work as an architect, founding his own firm in 1955. He carried on working well into old age, creating one of his most famous masterpieces—the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar—in his 80s.
Although Pei worked mostly in the United States, he will always be remembered for a European project: his redevelopment of the Louvre Museum in Paris in the 1980s. Pei was the first foreign architect to work on the Louvre in its long history, and initially his designs were strongly opposed. But in the end, the French—and everyone else—were won over. His glass pyramid outside the Louvre, completed in 1989, is now one of Paris' most famous landmarks.
He has designed buildings, hotels, schools and other structures across North America, Asia and Europe. His other works include Dallas City Hall and Japan's Miho Museum. His style was influenced by his love of Islamic (伊斯兰) architecture. His favoured building materials were glass and steel, with a combination of concrete.
He won a variety of awards and prizes for his buildings, including the AIA Gold Medal, the Praemium Imperiale for Architecture. In 1983 Pei was given the fifth Pritzker Architecture Prize for giving the 20th century some of its most beautiful interior spaces and exterior forms. He used his $100,000 prize money to start a scholarship fund for Chinese students to study architecture in America.
In person, Pei was always neatly dressed, good tempered, charming and unusually humble. In 2019, I. M. Pei, known as the last master of modern architecture, passed away at the age of 102.
24.How did the author develop Paragraph 1
A.By giving examples.
B.In space order.

D.By making comparison.
25.What can we say about Pei's glass pyramid outside the Louvre
A.Its design was objected at first.
B.It is Pei's first European project.
C.It won a lot of prizes in France.
D.It is the only famous landmark in Paris.
26.Which words best describe Ieoh Ming Pei
A.Kind and patient.
B.Creative and generous.
C.Intelligent and outgoing.
D.Interesting and proud.
27.What is the best title for the text
A.Contributions Made by I. M. Pei

Street artists have the unique ability to turn the entire world into their canvas (画布). Artist David Zinn's work is no different, as he masterfully uses his natural environment to bring his delightful creations to life.
Depending on the seasonal conditions around him, Zinn combines his character filled chalk drawings with fallen leaves and more permanent landscape features, including rocks and sidewalk cracks.
Zinn's drawings remind people of children's book illustrations and often feature animals with adorable look. Even though he draws a variety of creatures, his art does feature some recurring (多次再现的) characters—including Sluggo, a tiny green animal; Philomena, a flying pig; and Nadine, a small but brave mouse.
Zinn chooses to draw his creations onto staircases, streetlamps, and other fixtures of urban life besides the flat sidewalks. The artist also uses optical illusions (视觉错觉) in his work, providing the appearance of bottomless chasms (大裂口) or holes in sidewalks for his characters to climb in or out of.
Zinn has been making characteristic chalk art around Ann Arbor, Michigan, since 1987. However, his drawings have attractive sidewalks all over the world.
Due to the materials that he uses and the fact that his art is often located in high trafficked locations, all of Zinn's chalk drawings are temporary, only lasting for as long as nature allows them to. However, this contributes to their uniqueness, as no two drawings will ever be the exact same.
In order to be viewed, Zinn's work also forces people to look down and pay attention to the environment around them, which is more and more difficult in our ever changing and increasingly connected world. However, his colorful creatures encourage people to stop and smell the roses, and find something lovely.
28.What can we infer from the first two paragraphs
A.Zinn is completely different from other street artists.
B.The environment is part of Zinn's drawings.
C.Zinn draws on sidewalks only in autumn.
D.Flowers are the focus of Zinn's works.
29.What can be learned from Paragraph 3
A.Zinn likes drawing lovely animals.
B.Zinn only draws three characters.
C.Sluggo is a flying pig.
D.Nadine is Zinn's favourite character.
30.Which of the following best describes Zinn's drawings
A.Cheap but boring.
B.Attractive but expensive.
C.Popular but meaningless.
D.Temporary but creative.
31.What does Zinn's work remind people to do according to the last paragraph
A.Stay close to people around.
B.Appreciate the beauty around us.
C.Buy roses on the way home.
D.Face difficulties in our life.

In Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, you can find Jamey Turner playing an unusual musical instrument, the glass harp (竖琴). A glass harp is made up of different sized drinking glasses, each filled with water.
Turner makes music by running his fingers over the tops of the glasses. When he does so, each glass makes a different musical sound. Visitors like what they see and hear. They thank Turner by leaving a donation of a dollar or more in his box. Jamey Turner is 78 years old now. He first became interested in playing the glass harp at the age of six when he heard his father playing with a glass of water at the dinner table. He has been playing it for 50 years.
Today Turner puts together his instrument by placing 60 different glasses on a wooden soundboard. He holds the glasses in place with rubber bands, which keeps them from breaking. He then adds different amounts of water to each one to create different musical notes. Adding more water to a glass will make a lower sound. The smaller bowls of water produce a higher sound, while larger ones produce a lower, deeper sound.
Turner always uses low priced glass considering that it sounds better than costly crystal, and he has more control over the sound. Before buying new glasses, he will test them in stores. He decides if they produce the right sound by rubbing (摩擦) his finger over the top of them.
The glass harp was popular 300 years ago when composers like Wolfgang Mozart wrote music for the instrument. About 400 pieces of music have been written just for the glass harp. But Turner plays all kinds of music, even popular music from China. Few people play the glass harp these days, but Turner says he sees videos of people experimenting with the instrument on YouTube. He hopes the next generation will continue making music with it.
32.Which word can best describe Turner's performance
A.Disappointing. B.Appealing.
C.Convincing. D.Strange.
33.How does Turner change the sounds of the glasses
A.By placing glasses on a wooden board.
B.By beating different parts of the glasses.
C.By controlling the amount of water in the glasses.
D.By holding different glasses with rubber bands.
34.Why does Turner prefer to use cheap glasses
A.To save more money.
B.To protect his fingers.
C.To adjust beats easily.
D.To produce better sounds.
35.What does Turner expect of the glass harp
A.It can be passed on.
B.Students can study it in school.
C.It can be used to play all sorts of music.
D.More composers can write music for it.

As an artist who shares her journey on social media, I'm often asked by curious followers how to begin an art journey. Unfortunately, there is no magic list I can offer. I do remember, though, what it was like to be a complete beginner. So I've put together some good tips for starting an art journey.
Start small. I suggest using a sketchbook (素描本) for small studies. These small studies provide inspiration and may be a springboard for more complex works in the future. __36__ You'll want to look back on your journey to see how far you've come.
Paint often and paint from life. There's no better way to improve than to put in those brush miles. Whether you paint still lifes, portraits, or landscapes, paint from life as much as possible. __37__
Continually challenge yourself to try something new. __38__ Artistic growth can be a bit painful. Welcome to the club; we've all been there. I love taking on challenges. I once took up a challenge to create a painting every day for a month and post the works online.
__39__ Seeking and accepting constructive feedback (反馈) is crucial to growth. I post my work on social media and, in turn, have met some of the kindest people. They make me feel valued and respected, no matter my level of artistic ability.
The journey you're on won't follow a straight path. __40__ Push through, give it time and put in the effort. You will harvest the rewards of an artistic life.
A.Get out of your comfort zone.
B.Make career plans and set goals.
C.Don't throw away your beginner art.
D.Share your work if you feel comfortable doing so.
E.You'll hit roadblocks, and you'll feel discouraged at times.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Amy loved to draw, and her hands, always dirty from the pencil lead, moved on the paper, showing the pictures in her mind. She would sit for hours, lost in art. Trees on her pages seemed to swing in an unseen wind, and the faces she drew wore lifelike expressions. But Amy didn't look like the art she made. Her clothes were old and had many patches (补丁) that her mother made with care. Amy's family did not have much money, but they loved each other very much. Her mother worked hard at many jobs to take care of them after Amy's father got sick and died.
Amy had her good times and hard times in school. She loved different corners of the school which were sources of her inspiration and expected the art lesson. Yet other kids' laughing at her dress made her sad. She wanted to change the situation, but didn't know how to go about it. Despite this, she would quietly help someone with a hard math problem or pick up garbage on her way home. She always found comfort in her drawing. In the middle of the term, an art contest on the theme of “My Dream” was to be held, which would select the top three winners, and the head teacher would award them prizes. This news thrilled the children, Amy in particular. They enthusiastically registered for the contest and, after thoughtful consideration, finished their own art pieces. The contest organizers gathered all submissions one week later and set up an exhibit showcasing every participant's work in the school gym.
The school gym was filled with viewers as the walls displayed the efforts of the young artists. There were paintings of colorful landscapes where the sun burst through thick clouds. Some students had created portraits (肖像) of their heroes. In this sea of creativity, one painting stood out. In the painting, a community garden was drawn, a place where people from all walks of life were planting seeds together. The heartfelt work drew the viewers into a world where every detail had meaning. The exhibition would last a week and all the students and teachers could vote their favorite work.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
Finally came the day when the winners were announced. The children who had laughed at Amy started to see her in a new way.

解析:考查状语从句的省略。此处为while引导的时间状语从句的省略,当从句的主语和主句的主语一致,且从句中含有be动词时,可对主语和be动词进行省略。从句补充完整为while they are holding ...,此处省略they are。故填holding。
63.答案:which
故填which。
64.答案:the
解析:考查冠词。句意:在过去的几十年里,北京为保护这一标志性的民间舞蹈文化做出了巨大的努力。in the past decades为固定搭配。故填the。
65.答案:is being taken
故填is being taken。

Dear Mr Smith,
With the date of your return approaching, I've prepared a special gift, a set of Chinese paper cuttings for you.
Originated from ancient handcraft arts, Chinese paper cuttings have been considered a unique way to convey good wishes. Chinese characters, “Fu”, “Shou” and “Xi” represent fortune, longevity and happiness respectively. As traditional Chinese culture spreads across the world, paper cuttings have become the collection of many art lovers. You can paste them on your windows or doors to create a festival atmosphere.
Wish you a pleasant journey back home!
Yours,
Li Hua
第二节(满分25分)
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
Finally came the day when the winners were announced. The children who had laughed at Amy started to see her in a new way.
Finally came the day when the winners were announced. The head teacher started with the third place winner followed by a boy in the second place. Then the students waited with bated breath for the first place winner to be announced. “First place goes to—Amy!” said the head teacher. After a moment of silence, the crowd clapped. Amy stepped onto the stage to accept the prize, shocked and delighted. When Amy explained her intention of spreading the idea of unity and hope, everyone was moved. After that, things changed.
The children who had laughed at Amy started to see her in a new way. They got to know the real Amy—her kindness and her dreams. She wasn't alone anymore. During breaks, kids crowded around her to see her create pictures, which made her classmates eager to try drawing with their own thoughts, too. Amy's art became well known outside of school as well. A local gallery asked to exhibit her best painting. As Amy made more art, she became more confident. Her art changed her life and how others saw art and the world.

Here are four of the best online art classes for kids that are either free or extremely affordable (负担得起的).
Carla Sonheim's Kid's Week
Carla Sonheim, the author of Drawing Lab, has a series of free art classes. They are taught not just by Sonheim but also by fellow artists and teachers. Udemy
Udemy offers art classes to kids with different skill levels. For around $15-$20 per course, kids can learn drawing everything, and even drawing on an electronic device. Each course has a series of short lectures that kids can complete at any time, plus articles and downloadable resources.

篇章导读:本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了街头艺术家David Zinn (大卫·津恩)巧妙地利用自然环境将他令人愉快的创作带入生活。

30.Which of the following best describes Zinn's drawings

解析:细节理解题。根据第三段中的“He then adds different amounts ... a lower, deeper sound.”可知,Turner 通过控制玻璃杯中的水量来改变声音。故选C。

F.Evaluate your performance and, if needed, redefine your role.
G.You'll develop that painting muscle memory that only comes with repetition.

Yours,
Li Hua
第二节(满分25分)
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
